"Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" arrived on shelves today, marking the superhero duo's return to DC's universe of animated features after last year's popular "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies."
Based on the next story arc in the "Superman/Batman" comics, "Apocalypse" kicks off just a short time after the conclusion of "Public Enemies" and the destruction of the massive kryptonite meteor in the latter story's finale. Originally written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Michael Turner, the story was adapted by Tab Murphy ("Gorillas in the Mist") with Bruce Timm producing and Lauren Montgomery ("Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths") directing.
In "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse," audiences are introduced to a brand new Supergirl, Kara Zor-El (voiced by "Firefly" actress Summer Glau), as well as the evil ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid. While Superman and Batman decide how to handle the sudden and mysterious arrival of a new Kryptonian on Earth, they find themselves at odds with both longtime allies and one of Superman's most dangerous foes.
The DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the film also contain a new "Green Arrow" animated short featuring Oliver Queen as he tries to protect a young girl targeted for assassination. Read More...
