In what now seems unfortunate timing, popular biography comic publisher Bluewater Productions announced the latest subject in its line of "Political Power" comics yesterday evening: Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy. The Democratic senator and leader of one of the most powerful political families in U.S. history died just before midnight last night.
Bluewater's press release regarding "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" went wide only hours before Kennedy's death, stating that the "Lion of the Senate" would "roar as a new comic book biography" scheduled for release in November.
[UPDATE: Bluewater has provided an exclusive preview of "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" to Splash Page readers.]
"We are truly saddened for his families loss," Bluewater president Darren G. Davis told MTV News. "He was a true icon in American politics who was respected by his friends as well as his critics. The Ted Kennedy comic book has been in production since the 'Political Power' series was developed in March. The book is almost competed and of course we are going to have to make some edits due to today's events." Read More...
Earlier this month, I told you about the upcoming comic book biography of "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer hitting shelves in November—timed to coincide with the premiere of "New Moon" in theaters, in fact.
The latest in Bluewater Productions' line of "Female Force" comics, the Meyer bio will hit shelves in both a standard-size issue and a limited-run, 32-page version featuring a custom, alternate cover debuting exclusively here on Splash Page!
If you're already planning to pick this one up, keep in mind that you won't be able to order the limited-edition "Female Force: Stephenie Meyer" issue at your local comic shop. The limited-edition format will only be available via Dazzled By Twilight, a retailer in Forks, Washington (the real-life town where "Twilight" is set—but you already knew that). Don't worry, though, fans who can't make the pilgrimage to Forks can order the comic online, as well as a poster-sized print of the cover. Read More...
Last month we told you about the upcoming "Twilight" manga, and now it looks like the massively popular series is making another splash in the comics world with an upcoming single-issue comic about "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer.
The next woman to be featured in Bluewater Productions' popular line of "Female Force" biography comics, Meyer will join an impressive group that's included First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Princess Diana.
Written by Ryan Burton with art by Dave Macneil and Vinnie Tartamella, the comic promises to examine Meyer's rise to fame as an author, the "Twilight" phenomenon in print and film, and where Meyer plans to take the franchise. And "Twilight" fans take note: Burton has promised that "a very recognizable and iconic vampire" will narrate the issue. Read More...
