Patrick Stewart Holds No 'X-Men: First Class' Grudges

There’s no bad blood (just mutant blood) between Patrick Stewart and his young replacements in the summer blockbuster "X-Men: First Class." Stewart, who has played Professor Charles Francis Xavier (or just Professor X) in every other "X-Men" film, insists that while he hasn’t sat down to watch it, he’s certainly not holding any sort of grudge.

“I haven’t seen it,” Stewart told MTV News during a recent interview, “I haven’t been to the movies in over nine months. Believe me, and no one will believe this, especially I think James [McAvoy], there’s nothing personal about this.”

McAvoy took over the role of the wheelchair-bound Professor Xavier in "First Class" to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. “This is because I’ve been in the theater working all the time,” he clarified, “I’m not able to see movies.”

'Cowboys & Aliens' Inspires 'Star Trek' Sequel, According To Writers

"Star Trek" news is usually the stuff of MTV Movies Blog, but we're making an exception today since this news in particular ties to "Cowboys & Aliens." The comic book adaptation's co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are also the writers on J.J. Abrams' reboot of "Trek" and its coming sequel, which is planned for a June 2012 release — and the duo recently revealed that there's a bigger tie between their work on the two projects than fans might realize.

"['Cowboys and Aliens'] inspires it a little bit," Orci said in an interview with Airlock Alpha. "'Star Trek' was 'Wagon Train [to] the Stars.' Isn't that how Gene Roddenberry pitched it? So right now we're just doing 'Stars Come to the Wagon Train' and now we start turning."

"Once we start relaxing about what were doing here, I'm hoping that being out in the woods a little bit will kind of inspire the right decisions hopefully," he added. Read More...

'Thor's Hamner,' Prince Charles, And Singapore TGCC In Today's Twitter Report

Tony Moore's got big supporter on Twitter in his fellow Robert Kirkman collaborator Ryan Ottley, who made a public plea today get Marvel to let Moore do more Venom covers. I don't know that there was an official Marvel response to that request, but the publisher's envoy to Singapore has been regaling their followers with tales, pictures and adventures this week. C.B. Cebulski, Matt Fraction and Ivan Brandon have all been signing, paneling and posting in their capacities there, though Fraction's impact on the Singapore dumpling supply might need to be independently verified.

In trending topic reactions, a protester swarm's clash with Prince Charles' car caught a lot of tweet attention; Michael Kupperman had some advice for the British royal family member, while Christian Beranek reacted to the new "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" teaser. Sure, "The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale has cemented his status as the big-screen incarnation of Batman these days, but for anyone who remembers a time before Christopher Nolan — or even Tim Burton — got their hands on Gotham's guardian, Adam West was (and in some cases, continues to be) the Batman.

The star of the campy 1960s television series that played a big role in making Batman a household name, West has managed to keep himself active in the pop culture eye for decades now with on-screen television, movie, and commercial roles, and numerous voice-acting gigs. One of the most popular recurring characters on the hit series "Family Guy" (he voices an eccentric version of himself who happens to be the mayor of fictional Quahog, Rhode Island), West has somehow managed to avoid adding a comic book project to his resume... until now.

"The Mis-Adventures Of Adam West" will debut in Spring 2011 from Bluewater Comics as an ongoing series co-written by Adam West, Walter Fernandez Jr. and Arastao Maree. I spoke with West about the project, which will send him on a dimension-hopping adventure featuring encounters both fictional and within his real-life history, and received an exclusive preview of several covers from the upcoming series. William Shatner Describes His Return To 'Tek War' For New Comic Book Series

"Tek War Chronicles" #1, the debut issue of the new comic book series based on William Shatner's best-selling science-fiction novels is on stands now, but that doesn't mean the iconic actor and novelist has let up for a moment in voicing his affection for the latest iteration of the "TekWar" -- a franchise that has included, among other things, prior "TekWar" comic books, a television series, a feature-length movie, and even a video game.

According to Shatner, he's taking a hands-on approach with Bluewater Productions' new "Tek War" comic, and learning quite a bit about the ins and outs of the medium along the way.

"I'm right there from the very beginning, from the concept of how the story will be told to okaying the drawings and the color," Shatner told MTV News. "I'm getting a good education on the exigencies of drawing a comic book -- but at the same time, storytelling is storytelling." Read More...

This Week's Best Bets: New Horrors From 'Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash,' 'Predator' And Milo Ventimiglia!

FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH: THE NIGHTMARE WARRIORS I'm running a day late on this week's edition of "Best Bets," but I hope you'll excuse the delay. When someone offers advance tickets to "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," any self-respecting geek worth his long boxes knows that decisions have to be made and schedules should be shuffled for Optimus Prime -- and let's be honest here, Megan Fox.

So, without further excuses on my side, let's get right to the best of this week's comics with Hollywood ties, shall we?

"FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH: THE NIGHTMARE WARRIORS" #1 (DC/Dynamite) -- Not only is it the sequel to 2007's "Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash" miniseries, which was based on the script to a movie that would have tied together the "Freddy Vs. Jason" movie and the "Evil Dead" trilogy (and that alone should be enough to excite, well... anyone), but "Nightmare Warriors" is co-written by James Kuhoric and comics/movie veteran Jeff Katz -- who provided the script treatment for the original "Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash" story. Basically, "Nightmare Warriors" is likely to be every bit as good as you hope it will be. Read More...

William Shatner Visits 'The Tonight Show' To Promote New 'Tek War' Comic

William Shatner If there's one spot to showcase a new comic on late night television, it's probably "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien." Besides sharing a name with U.S. President Barack Obama's favorite comic book barbarian, the Tonight Show host and former "The Simpsons" scribe has been a fan of the medium for many years.
