Kevin BaconAfter a week of casting rumors and changes, an even bigger coup may give "X-Men: First Class" its main villain.

According to Deadline, Kevin Bacon is in talks to play the villain in "X-Men: First Class." Bacon has previously appeared in numerous films, including "Animal House," "Footloose," "Flatliners," "A Few Good Men," "Apollo 13" and "Mystic River." Bacon's long list of credits also led to the popular "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game.

It's interesting to note that the report doesn't cite which villain Bacon would play in the film. In the original comics, Professor Xavier and Magneto went up against the Nazi war criminal Baron Strucker early in their careers, while Xavier also had encounters with Lucifer, who was eventually revealed as an alien invader. Neither of these characters seem like obvious choices for the villain in this film, though. Read More...

Lucas TillBarely 24 hours after Nicholas Hoult and Caleb Landry Jones were respectively cast as Beast and Banshee (reportedly), rumors continue to swirl around potential new cast members for director Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lucas Till may also be in negotiations to portray Havok, the younger brother of Cyclops. Till has previously appeared on television in episodes of "House" and "Medium" in addition to feature film roles in "The Other Side," "Walk The Line," "The Spy Next Door" and "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

Intriguingly, the latest rumor seems to suggest that Hoult, Jones and Till may not actually be playing their originally reported characters as part of a campaign of misdirection. However, that seems less likely. Additionally, Entertainment Weekly also denied previous rumors that Aaron Johnson ("Kick-Ass") and Taylor Lautner ("The Twilight Saga") had been cast or in talks to appear in "First Class." Men In Black 3Back in May, Columbia finally announced plans to go forward with "Men In Black 3" with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones after nearly eight years since "Men In Black 2." Josh Brolin ("Jonah Hex") and "Flight of the Conchords" star Jemaine Clement also joined the cast as a younger version of Jones' Agent K and a new villain named Yaz, respectively.

Although the movie isn't set to begin filming until August, several details about the film have potentially been revealed by Jo Blo; including a passage that describes Clement's Yaz as "a nightmare biker who looks like Dennis Hopper" who is "named after a side-effect prone brand of birth control."

The report also cites specific details about the plot of "Men In Black 3," so consider this your SPOILER ALERT before going on any further. Read More...

SupermanEarlier this year, "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan confirmed that he would have direct involvement with the next "Superman" film, while later stressing that he does not intend to direct it.

Although there has been relatively little news since then, a surprising candidate for the director's chair has emerged.

Chris Columbus is rumored to have been offered the chance to direct the new "Superman" film, according to Superman Homepage. The rumor claims that Columbus — who directed the first two "Harry Potter" movies and the recent "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" adaptation — is believed to be "the right fit" for the film among those inside Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures. SmallvilleLast spring, Warner Brothers announced that the upcoming tenth season of "Smallville" will also be its last. And while the show will begin its final chapter in the fall, several members of the cast and creative team coming to the San Diego Comic-Con for one final appearance.

Series stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Justin Hartley will headline the "Smallville" panel on Sunday, July 25 at 10:00a.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. "Smallville" showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be on the panel, with special guest moderator Geoff Johns; the recently named Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment who has also written two episodes of "Smallville."

For Welling, this will be only his second appearance at Comic-Con, following nearly a decade as Clark Kent. It's also interesting to note Freeman's appearance, as her character, Tess was seemingly killed off in the ninth season finale. Presumably, she will be revived in the new season. Read More...

Wonder WomanLast week, DC unveiled a new costume for Wonder Woman designed by superstar artist Jim Lee for the upcoming creative team of J. Michael Straczynski and artist Don Kramer.

Although the early fan response has been largely negative, the costume seems to resemble versions of her costume that could have been used in Joss Whedon's "Wonder Woman" live-action adaptation.

Shawna Trpcic — a designer who has previously worked with Whedon on “Angel,” “Firefly,” “Serenity” and “Dollhouse” — recently posted four designs for her interpretation of Wonder Woman. While, none of her designs appear to have directly influenced the new costume by Lee, it’s worth noting that three of Trpcic’s designs would also have put Diana in pants. Read More...

Erica HosseiniWith production of director Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class” heating up to meet its release date next summer, it now appears that the latest installment of the franchise will draw upon more than just the classic “X-Men” characters.

“I just went in for a reading for the new “X-Men” Movie: “First Class,” Erica Hosseini told Straight 2 DVD. “I was extremely nervous and reading my lines the best I could. But I have absolutely no acting experience. I really hope that I get a call back, but I'm not holding my breath.”

“I was auditioning for a role named Willow,” continued Hosseini. “Hopefully I don't get in trouble for blabbing details on the off-chance that I get it. It's a role similar to Mystique from what I understand. Potentially lots of body paint, so that would be really fun.” Read More...
