Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'The Warriors' Comic BookPolish up that leather vest and start heading for the F-Train, because Walter Hill’s 1979 cult classic “The Warriors” is getting the four-color treatment courtesy of upstart publisher Dabel Brothers.

The zany film -- long a favorite on the midnight screening circuit --- follows a New York City gang called the Warriors forced to flee towards Coney Island after being framed for the assassination of popular kingpin Cyrus. Along the way the group runs into a hodgepodge of rival gangs out for their blood, ranging from the facepainted, bat-swinging Baseball Furies to the rollerskate-equipped Punks.

Initially slated to adapt the movie, the publisher told MTV News that the eventual goal is to tackle the entire world that makes up the rough-and-tumble New York City of the late-1970’s. Read More...

Often the best moments at Comic-Con are the most unexpected, and such was the case when Hugh Jackman made a last-minute visit to the show to promote his upcoming "X-Men" spin-off, "Wolverine." In the middle of interviewing the star, who should drop in but the godfather of comics himself, Stan Lee. Check out the golden moment below, and then check back soon for more from our chat with Jackman.

Rose McGowan in Red Sonja posterWe're stoked to see what Rose McGowan does with Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith's raven-haired she-devil in director Douglas Aarniokoski reboot of 'Red Sonja," so thankfully we have an exclusive poster from the hotly anticipated fantasy flick.

In fact, we're riddling McGowan, Aarniokoski, and producer Robert Rodriguez with questions here at Comic-Con right now, so stay tuned for that, but in the meantime, check out the poster after the jump.

Steve LieberA hearty welcome to artist Steve Lieber, who joins us as the very first contributor to the Splash Page "Cover Artist" gallery, an ongoing series of originally-created art that will grace every page of the blog (everything you see on the top and sides). In the coming weeks you'll see illustrations appearing on the site from some of the coolest names in comics, including Jim Mahfood, Cully Hamner, Renee French, Skottie Young and many, many others.

Steve Lieber spans the breadth of the industry, from small press to mainstream, having performed art duties on such books as "Civil War: Frontline," "Detective Comics," and "Road to Perdition 2." But he is perhaps best known as the artist behind the Eisner Award-winning series "Whiteout" with writer Greg Rucka, the murder-mystery-in-Antactica that’s a soon-to-be motion picture starring Kate Beckinsale hitting theaters in 2009. The pair are currently working on "Whiteout: Night," a third entry to the franchise.

Art by Tony HarrisOn behalf of everyone here at MTV News, I'm beyond thrilled to welcome you to Splash Page. As the new home for where comics hit Hollywood, we'll be bringing you exclusive news on the latest comic-to-film adaptations, offering up interviews with the biggest names in comics and movies, hosting guest celebrity columns and playing host a bevy of exciting content all geared towards the four-color world.

With films like "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man" ruling the box office, and fare like "Persepolis" earning Oscar nods, there has never been a more remarkable time for the industry. But the amazing summer of 2008 is only the beginning of Hollywood's comic craze. Dozens of amazing projects are coming down the pike, and you can trust that we'll be aiming our journalistic cannons at them all.

We also want to make a promise to you, and that's that we take this seriously. Having covered comics professionally for nearly a decade and having read them for far longer, I've seen the frustration firsthand when mainstream media treats the industry as a launching pad for "Zap, Bam, Pow!" headlines and Archie jokes. So to that end, we're assembling a cache of expert contributors to help fuel Splash Page, in addition to hiring of one of DC Comics' most talented editors, who will be joining us full-time in the coming weeks. We view advancing comics as a mission, and we're pleased to combine our experience in covering movies with our love of pencils and ink.

With that in mind we'll be hitting the San Diego Comic-Con hard beginning Thursday, so be sure to check in hourly from then until Monday as we roll out a ton of huge exclusives from the show. Those include a first look at Robert Rodriguez's "Red Sonja," interviews with the entire cast of "Watchmen," and first looks at the comic adaptations of some of 2009's biggest movies. It's going to be a fun (and dizzying) experience, and I promise it'll be worth the bookmark.

As our tagline says, "When comics and movies collide, we pick up the pieces." We're excited to have you along for that journey. Excelsior.
