Namor the Sub-MarinerWith the upcoming adaptation of "The Surrogates" wrapped and headed to theaters, many are wondering if director Jonathan Mostow will now turn his attention from robots and dry land to the undersea Kingdom of Atlantis, home of Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner.

Mostow said the film debut of Marvel's first mutant is in development, at least as soon as the right script is worked out.

"These characters have been around forever and to really do justice to them and make the right movie, you have to get the script right," Mostow told MTV News. "So we're still working on that and we'll see. With everything Marvel, we like to keep it in a shroud of secrecy." Read More...

Spider-ManIt might be a few more years before fans see "Spider-Man 4," but a generation of viewers can now relive their earliest "Spider-Man" experiences online. Beginning this week, the 1994 "Spider-Man" animated series joins its 1967 predecessor as a weekly online series at Marvel.com.

Originally broadcast Saturday mornings on the Fox Kids Network, the series began in-progress with a 19-year-old Peter Parker already versed in fighting crime as Spider-Man and attending classes at Empire State University. Through the duration of the series, Spider-Man relives many of his comic book adventures battling the likes of the Green Goblin, Venom and others between working a freelance photojournalist gig at The Daily Bugle and courting Felicia Hardy and Mary Jane Watson. The web-slinger also crossed-over with allies such as Daredevil, the X-Men and Captain America during the series' run, which helped to flesh out a wider animated Marvel universe. Read More...

Adam WestAs one of the most light-hearted and action-packed incarnations of Batman in recent memory, Cartoon Network's "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" often draws comparisons to Adam West's campy "Batman" series from the swinging '60s. Now the man who out-surfed the Joker could be returning to his costumed roots for the series' second season.

According to Collider, an unnamed creator from the show broke the news during an interview at last month's San Diego Comic-Con.

“Julie Newmar is playing Martha Wayne, and playing Bruce’s father, Thomas Wayne, will be Adam West! I think they’re very appropriate parents for Batman…" said the anonymous creator, "I should probably not be revealing this.” Read More...

Between the recent release of the animated "Green Lantern: First Flight" and the acquisition of Ryan Reynolds for 2011's live-action "Green Lantern" movie, the willpower of Lantern-lovers finally seems to be winning out in Hollywood. Heck, there was even that amazingly well-done "Green Lantern" fan trailer that cast Nathan Fillion as DC's Emerald Avenger.

When MTV News caught up with Fillion, the "Castle" and "Firefly" star voiced his support for both the faux trailer and Reynolds' qualifications to wield the most powerful weapon in the universe.

"A friend of mine, P.J., introduced me to this fan trailer, a fan-made trailer of me as the Green Lantern, which tickled me to no end," Fillion told MTV News. "It was actually really incredibly well done." Read More...

Fear AgentWhen last we checked, word was Universal had scooped up Rick Remender's "Fear Agent" for a potential motion picture. However, the media onslaught of Comic-Con merited updates on the properties making the rounds in Hollywood -- and this gritty space drama was certainly no exception.

"Well ['Fear Agent'] still moving forward," Remender told MTV News, "The press release that went out was a leak, it wasn't official and it was missing a lot of details obviously."

"I met with a couple of the guys involved in San Diego this past weekend and had a really good chat about it," he expalined. "It looks like the home is going to be Universal. I don't want to say anything definitive about any of the details yet, but it sounded like 'Fear Agent' might be a giant, $100 million movie." Read More...

Case in point: actress Jennifer Love Hewitt. When asked about her preferred criteria for upcoming roles, the star of CBS' "The Ghost Whisperer" and creator of IDW's upcoming "The Music Box," told MTV News that she's ready for some action.

"I'd really love to do an action movie. I'd really love to do like a 'Tomb Raider' or something like that," said Hewitt, "I think that'd be fun. I would love to play like a super hero or something like that. That would be awesome." Read More...

Night MaryMost people fight to wake up from their nightmares, but for the Rick Remender ("Fear Agent") and Kieron Dwyer ("XXXombies") character Mary Specter, entering the dreams of others to help resolve sleep issues is all in a night's work. Now, as Animal Logic, the studio behind "300," prepares to adapt IDW's "Night Mary," Remender reflects on the material's origins and explains why the tale is just right for a feature film.

According to Remender, bringing "Mary" to Hollywood has been a long time coming. After the adaptation cycled through a few other movie attempts that didn't quite materialize, he and Dwyer were ready to lose hope. Celebrity Death Ray Celebrity-created sequential art is always a sensitive subject among serious comic book fans. Many stars, such as “Mayhem” creator Tyrese Gibson candidly address their motivations for entering the medium, while others take a less hands-on approach to addressing audience skepticism. While it’s far too early to tell which route a given star will take, there should be plenty of opportunities to tackle the topic as Jeff Katz's American Original puts comics behind comics with the production of a new line of graphic novels collected under the “Comedy Death Ray” banner.

Announced during San Diego Comic-Con, the line is planned to feature titles by Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Silverman (pictured), Patton Oswalt, B.J. Novak, David Cross, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Scheer and Zach Galifanakis among others. Read More...
