Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'Batman'To fans of "Batman," writer Greg Rucka has become a name synonymous with the character. In addition to delivering some of the Bat-universe's most groundbreaking story arcs ("Batman: No Man's Land," "Bruce Wayne - Fugitive"), Rucka now handles writing duties on DC's Bat-friendly monthly "Detective Comics" series.

MTV caught up with DC's resident Bat-expert to get his two cents on 2008's box office champ, "The Dark Knight," and how he thinks Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan (if he decides to return) should tackle "Batman 3." Read More...

With his role as The Joker in "The Dark Knight," Heath Ledger masterfully portrayed a dangerously unpredictable criminal, worthy of Batman's attention. However, his posthumous win at Sunday night's Academy Awards presentation for "Best Supporting Actor" was anything but "unpredictable."

The odds-on favorite to win the coveted statuette, comic book and film fans the world over cheered as Ledger's name was announced as the winner during Sunday's Oscar presentation, capping off what can only be described as an historic awards season for the actor, which includes top honors from The Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Chances are, if you're reading this post, that means you're not currently in front of a TV set watching the latest installment of MTV's "Spoilers," and are therefore not getting the latest news and behind-the-scenes goodness on your favorite upcoming flicks -- like "Watchmen," for example. But fret not, because your buddies at MTV Splash Page have got your hook up in regards to our much-hyped exclusive sneak-peek at a scene straight from the insanely-anticipated superhero film, set to hit theaters on March 6.

Here we get a look at Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson) and Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman) taking care of business at a maximum security prison in the midst of a riot. For those of you who have been keeping score at home, chances are you'll recognize plenty of shots from the various "Watchmen" trailers seen so far, but clearly there ain't nothing like seeing it all in one complete scene. 'The Joker'Ask just about anyone who saw "The Dark Knight" which performer they thought stole the show, and chances are they'll say "Heath Ledger" faster than The Joker made a pencil disappear in the film. Heck, even the esteemed Academy thinks so -- after all, when was the last time we saw a costumed supervillian from a comic book flick make the cut for a major nomination, let alone stand as the current odds-on favorite to win, huh?

There's certainly no debating that Ledger left some huge shoes to fill should The Joker return in future installments of the Batman franchise (and the chances are good, since, given his recent statements, Warner Bros. CEO Jeff Bewkes hopes to keep churning out Batman movies for some time to come), but one fansite -- TheUltimateJoker.com -- is petitioning Warner Bros. to not only recognize Ledger as "The Best Joker Ever," but retire the Clown Prince of Crime altogether from any future installments of Batman films. By now we've all seen (well, more like heard) "The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale's infamous rant on the set of "Terminator: Salvation," and likewise have been treated to countless spoofs of the on-set tantrum (including one featuring our very own MTV News Movies Editor Josh Horowitz). However, leave it to Mighty Marvel to take what should be a played-out piece of behind-the-scenes embarrassment and completely reinvent it.

Do yourself a huge favor and check out the clip below, featuring everyone's favorite "Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing":

Mickey RourkeEarlier this week, Splash Page reported on the latest in what's become a string of make-your-head-spin "Iron Man 2’" casting rumors, as Mickey Rourke declared that he was dropping out of the "Iron Man" sequel, simply stating that, "Right now, we’re not doing ‘Iron Man 2.’”

However -- if a report on Entertainment Weekly can be trusted -- there still may be a glimmer of hope for fans who were looking forward to seeing the Oscar-nominated actor take a turn as one of ol' Shellhead's rogues. According to unnamed sources, the offer by Marvel Entertainment made to Rourke still stands, adding "nothing's yet being negotiated." Read More...

'Superman'About a week ago, message boards across the 'Net blew up over a rumor that those love-'em-or-hate-'em Wachowski Brothers were in talks to helm a three-part "Superman" revamp in addition to a long-rumored "Plastic Man" live-action flick.

Well, it looks like we've got some good news or bad news for you (depending on your personal thoughts on Los Bros. Wachowski). In a post over at SlashFilm.com today, "two independent sources" claim that Larry and Andy Wachowski were never offered a shot at a revamp of "Superman," adding, "the Wachowski Brothers have definitely never had any talks with DC or Warner Bros to helm a 'Superman' film. This is confirmed." Read More...

'The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone'While we've been getting our daily allowances of ridiculously cool viral hype from upcoming films like "Watchmen" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," one of the movies we're most excited about has been sitting quietly in the corner -- namely, Disney's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Surrogates," based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel by creators Rob Venditti and Brett Weldele. Directed by Jonathan Mostow, the film features the star power of Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames -- no small "get" for an otherwise under-the-radar story.

And though sneak-peeks of Wolverine and eerie "Watchmen" websites are always great, what really gets us going are comic books -- and the good folks at Top Shelf Productions have given us just that with an exclusive 11-page preview of "The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone," which serves as a prequel to the original 2006 graphic novel. 'Conan'When last we heard from the "Conan" revamp camp, director Brett Ratner was adamantly dismissing rumors that he'd signed on to direct a "Conan" remake, saying the "Conan" news was premature and his next project would be "Beverly Hills Cop 4."

However, he's certainly not denying his desire to take on Cimmeria's resident berzerker in a big screen update. In fact, the director behind "X-Men: The Last Stand" already has ideas on how he'd handle casting.

"I believe it should be an unknown," Ratner hinted to MTV News. "Conan is kind of iconic. It's kind of like when you do Superman." Read More...

'Breckin Meyer'Actor Breckin Meyer has certainly lived a charmed life in terms of all-things geek -- between his writing duties on ["Adult Swim" series] "Robot Chicken" and a cameo spot on "Heroes" with his buddy Seth Green, it's safe to say Meyer has some legitimate "nerd cred."

And if a Production Weekly post on Twitter can be believed, it looks as though Meyer will be taking what's he's learned from his time on the Comic Con circuit to the big screen, as the veteran actor is apparently making the jump to screenwriting, taking on writing chores for "Superguys." The film -- based on a story by Harry Elfont and Deb Kaplan (the team behind "Can't Hardly Wait") -- is being described as "'Ocean’s 11' with idiots set at Comic-Con." Read More...
