'Heavy Metal'Sure, he may have just delivered the big screen adaptation comic fans have been itching to see for decades with "Watchmen," but hopefully someone told director Zack Snyder that us comic and movie fans are an insatiable bunch. After all, the blood on the Comedian's pin isn't even dry yet, and we're already asking him about his future funnybook forays: namely, his "Heavy Metal" team-up with co-directors David Fincher and Gore Verbinski that re-imagines the classic, adult-themed animated epic.

"'Heavy Metal,' is coasting," Snyder told MTV News of the in-development project. "I don’t know what’s going to happen, I’m excited about it. I love ‘Heavy Metal,’ if that happens it’ll be great.” Read More...

'Damon Lindelof'He's credited as the mind behind one of television's most talked-about and acclaimed series of the past few years (ABC's "Lost"), and one would assume he got the geek out of his system writing Marvel's "Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk," but as Damon Lindelof has discovered, the siren song of comics can be a hard thing to ignore. Now, it looks like he's setting his sights on Marvel's crosstown rival for his next potential project.

"I think it's everybody’s dream to write a 'Batman' story," Lindelof told MTV News. "He remains the coolest comic character in my reckoning. As a kid, my favorite character was Green Lantern. My extrapolation of his superpower was that his super power was imagination. I am scrawny and weak but if I had that ring I could come up with some clever things to do with it." Read More...

'Caliber'Last month, we spoke with "Caliber" writer Sam Sarkar and got an update on the status of the in-development adaptation of that series he's currently writing the screenplay for -- a film that action director extraordinaire John Woo is likely to helm. Sarkar told MTV News that Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil production company (where Sarkar serves as head of development) has officially signed on to produce "Caliber," but the popular actor won't star in the film.

So, with that in mind, we asked Sarkar if there's been any other movement in terms of casting for the film ("A few people have responded already," he told us) and which characters were likely to be the standouts in the big-screen version of his unique, Wild West-era take on the Knights of the Round Table. Zack SnyderEarlier this year, it seemed like you couldn't go five minutes without hearing or seeing the name Zack Snyder, thanks to a certain little flick called "Watchmen" and the deafening hype surrounding it. However, a month out from that insanely anticipated, critically acclaimed (yet some would argue, financially disappointing) film, we haven't heard much from Snyder -- so MTV News checked in with the director to find out what the post-"Watchmen" world looks like.

'I’m great," exclaimed Snyder in an exclusive chat with MTV News. "I’m working on 'Guardians [of Ga'Hoole],’ and putting ‘Sucker Punch' together, and we’re just trying to make another movie. The director’s cut of ‘Watchmen,’ is coming out in July, so there’s a lot more ‘Watchmen,’ still to be had, but we’re working on the other movies now.” Read More...

'Green Hornet'If you've been keeping up with the latest online scuttlebutt regarding Seth Rogen's adaptation of "The Green Hornet," then you're probably well aware that the rumor mill has not been too kind to the project lately. Likewise, Rogen's most recent, head-scratching comments didn't do the flick any favors, either.

As if that wasn't enough, amateur French filmmaker Aurenlien Poitrimoult has upped the ante in terms of gritty action and breakneck fight sequences in a "Green Hornet" short film that's been around a while now, but just caught our attention here at Splash Page HQ. Read More...

'The Goon'"The Dark Knight," "Spider-Man" and "Iron Man" were all top-grossing comic book flicks, and all live-action spectacles. These days, in a world of A-list actors desperate to put on the spandex or body armor, it's a pretty bold move to go the CGI-animated route with comic book adaptations.

Even so, "The Goon" creator Eric Powell revealed to MTV News that he wouldn't have had it any other way.

"I always felt that the material would work better animated, just because of the bizarre nature of the characters and the atmosphere of the stories," Powell told MTV News. "But American audiences don't always embrace animation when it's not a bunch of cute animals singing and dancing -- so I was a little hesitant about it." Read More...

'Ninja Scroll'A common complaint when it comes to stateside adaptations of classic anime and manga properties has been the lack of actual Asian actors playing lead roles in them. And while that trend doesn't seem to be slowing down, could Leonard DiCaprio -- whose Appian Way production company has the likes of "Akira" and "Ninja Scroll" in the works -- be listening to what fans?

Indeed he has, if a recent post on Anime News Network can be trusted. In a move that should get the hardest of hardcore anime and manga fans excited, ANN reports that DiCaprio is considering casting Japanese pop group SMAP as main leads in his "Ninja Scroll" adaptation. Read More...

'Sin City'UPDATE: Weinstein Co. attorney Bert Fields has issued the following statement denying the report that TWC lost its rights to "Sin City 2":

"TWC's rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash."

ORIGINAL STORY FOLLOWS:

We've heard from numerous actors pining for the chance to return to the mean streets of Basin City for "Sin City 2," but today we're getting word of a major player from the first film that definitely won't be playing a role in the highly anticipated sequel -- The Weinstein Company.

Although details are limited, IESB reports that the Brothers Weinstein have lost the rights to the follow-up to Frank Miller's "Sin City," and a sequel could be financed by a private equity group with specifics to come soon. The site goes on to suggest that Robert Rodriguez's Trouble Pictures will remain on board as the film's producer. Read More...
