Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'Y: The Last Man''Even though his thriller "Eagle Eye" will be hitting shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray today, writer/director D.J. Caruso keeps hearing one question every time he plops down in the interview chair, "Why?" -- or more specifically, "Y?" -- as in his in-the-works adaptation of Vertigo Comics' "Y: The Last Man."

Case in point, in a recent sit-down with Caruso, SuperHeroHype.com once again brought up the possible trilogy which follows the last man on earth, and as usual, the director was more than willing to give fans of the comic an update -- this time, on the struggles involved with adapting such an epic tale.

"I think it's one of those that the source material is fantastic stuff, it's great, but it's a tough one to lick into getting into a screenplay," Caruso related to SHH.com "I've tried to feel like it's a trilogy of movies and I think everyone sort of agrees, but at the same time, just getting the first movie right and getting the right beats and knowing what to put in, it's been really tough." Here we are, just a day away from the December 25 release of "The Spirit," and naturally, we're already asking about a sequel (because, let's face it, it's never to early to start talking sequel). So, when MTV had the chance to talk with "The Spirit" co-stars Gabriel Macht and Eva Mendes, we decided to see if they thought a follow-up to this Christmas' latest offering to the superhero film genre would be worth it.

While Macht seemed to be ready for it, Mendes had a different point of view. Check out the video below to see what the two stars had to say:

What do you think, readers? Would you like to see a sequel to "The Spirit," or is one film enough? We wanna know what you think in the comments.

'The Dark Knight'While the neighboring setting may have played a major role in the movie itself, as far as "The Dark Knight" being screened in theaters in China, Warner Bros. will be taking a pass.

Variety is reporting today that the studio has decided not to screen "The Dark Knight" in China -- which has seen foreign grosses top $465 million -- due to "cultural sensitivities." And while studio reps refused to elaborate further on exactly what those cultural sensitivities were, all signs point to scenes in "The Dark Knight" which took place in Hong Kong, which may have proved difficult to get past Chinese censors. T-minus two days and counting until "The Spirit" hits theaters, and Splash Page couldn't be more excited to see Will Eisner's classic comic character make the leap from pulp to cinema. However, when "The Spirit" co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson recently sat down for a chat with MTV's Joshua Horowitz, the conversation just so happened to shift to another, highly-anticipated Frank Miller vehicle, "Sin City 2," as well as a different film Miller might have in the works post-"Spirit."

Frank Miller... on a western?! That sound you hear is the rumor mill cranking at full speed, readers!

RorschachComic book writers and artists are usually all too eager to explain the inspirations behind the heroes they create -- be they Biblical, fictional, historical, or just knock-offs of other comic characters -- and "Watchmen" co-creator Dave Gibbons is no exception. However, for the resident anti-hero in "Watchmen," Rorschach, Gibbons explains that he found heroic inspiration in a rather unlikely duo of historical figures.

"I put him in the same kind of bag as Hitler and Margaret Thatcher -- you might not like them but you can't deny that there's something very attractive about someone who has no grey areas," Gibbons recently related to DigitalSpy. "Just as all the characters are archetypal - there's the Batman equivalent, the feisty female heroine, the Superman - Rorschach is like the gumshoe detective or the masked vigilante taken way out of everyone's comfort zone. The ultimate vigilante where everything is black and white." Read More...

'Eddie Murphy'Sure, we all had a good laugh at the expense of the U.K.-based tabloid The Sun after they announced that Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBeouf would portray The Riddler and Robin, respectively, in "Gotham" (what The Sun claimed to be the title of the follow-up to this summer's "The Dark Knight"). After all -- as we've made perfectly clear -- Warner Bros., director Christopher Nolan and various high-level execs attached to the franchise have all gone on record saying that there's been absolutely no movement on the film, let alone a script or preliminary casting.

However, the source of the speculation -- Sun reporter Gordon Smart -- has come forward in the face of the fanboy firing squad to defend his reporting, saying that he stands by his story based on "a reliable contact" close to the film. And while it's still safe to shrug and smirk this rumor off, it might be worth noting that Smart claims that the same anonymous source who kick-started the recent "Batman 3” casting rumors was responsible for another rumor back in 2005 that proved true in a big way: the casting of Daniel Craig as the new (at the time) James Bond. 'Martha Washington'Over the past year, Frank Miller and Dave Gibbons have become creative forces to be reckoned with in the world of comic book movies. Both have major projects in the works -- Miller's "The Spirit" and Gibbons on "Watchmen" (which he co-created) -- and, thanks to their respective, storied careers, both have plenty more where that came from in terms of groundbreaking comic book work. But what about a possible team-up between these two comic titans?

When DigitalSpy.co.uk recently asked Gibbons what he'd like to work on after "Watchmen," the acclaimed artist hinted at the possibility. "There was a series I did with Frank Miller called 'Martha Washington,' which in fact is longer than 'Watchmen,' it's about 500 pages. Frank's enjoying a certain amount of success in Hollywood and I wouldn't be surprised if something happens with that. I think that would make a great movie." Read More...
