Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'Billy Smoke'These days, Hollywood sharks view the San Diego Comic Con as a veritable feeding frenzy of possible film and TV properties, but rarely do they bite at a project that hasn’t been published – or even written – yet. Even more rare is when a star gets attached to it so early in the game. Matter of fact, we’re pretty sure that’s never happened.

However, Oni Press’ soon-to-be-released “Billy Smoke,” written by B. Clay Moore about a hitman-turned-hero, broke that new ground in terms of comics making the jump to film with a star already attached. Fans who attended the show last month were treated to the news that, not only had Warner Bros. optioned the film, but “Lost” star Matthew Fox is already attached to star in the picture. And just to remind you – all this happened BEFORE the final script was written. Read More...

Mike O'Hearn, 'American Gladiator'Word is trickling out that Mike O'Hearn -- better known as Titan on “American Gladiators” -- has been one busy blond brute around Hollywood. According to an article referenced on Slashfilm.com, O’Hearn has met with Lionsgate for the lead role in their reboot of the “Conan” franchise. Furthermore, according to O’Hearn, he’s already passed his audition and will most likely be offered the role.

And if for some reason O’Hearn decides to pass on the offer, he also claims to be in negotiations with Marvel Studios to play the Star Spangled Avenger himself, Captain America, in their big screen adaptation. Read More...

'Scott Pilgrim'For comic fans in the know, one of the most highly-anticipated upcoming comic films along with “Watchmen” and the next series of sure-to-be-Marvel blockbusters is the film adaptation of Brian Lee O’Malley’s comedy/action/romance series, “Scott Pilgrim.”

Regarding the film (which will officially be titled “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”), much has been announced to get “Pilgrim” fans worked up since Universal picked up the option in 2005: Edgar Wright (“Shaun of the Dead”) is set to direct, up-and-coming screenwriter Michael Bacall will write the script and Michael Cera (“Superbad”) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Live Free or Die Hard”) are set to play the lead roles of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona V. Flowers, respectively -- however, plenty of questions remain.

We caught up with Wright to see if the director could shed any more light on the story about the kid who must defeat the Seven Evil Exes to win his girl’s heart. Read More...

'The Freshmen'In terms of livin' the geek high life, Seth Green’s got it made. Not only is he widely known for his work in film and on Adult Swim’s hit "Robot Chicken," but he’s also got a hit comic book in Top Cow’s "The Freshmen."

“Freshmen” fans who were lucky enough to attend this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were given a special treat, as publisher Top Cow handed out special one-shot issues which bridged the gap between the recently concluded second volume of the series and the upcoming third volume.

However, according to Green, don’t expect another series of comics this time around. “[Writer and co-creator] Hugh [Sterbakov] and I have talked about [volume three]...he has the whole thing mapped out,” he hinted. “[But] I really wanna push towards trying to exploit another medium -- I really want to make a movie at this point. So we’re talking about how to do that. It’s always a process getting a film made, but I think this concept will really come alive on film and that’s what I’m pushing for.” Read More...

Seth RogenSeth Rogen can't seem to get away from green these days -- first in this month's "Pineapple Express" (where a bit of "green" gets him into a world of trouble) and now with news breaking hard and fast about 2010's 'Green Hornet' comic book adaptation.

In a sit-down with MTV News, co-writer Rogen (who will also play the film's titular role) spilled more info about the upcoming feature film, which he hopes to be a healthy balance of comedy and action. "I think the tone is very real, but the relationships in the movie are where we try to draw our comedy from," explained Rogen. "I think it’s somewhere in a 'True Lies' type world almost, with big exciting action but the relationships are all very personal, and that’s where a lot of the comedy comes from." Read More...

'JLA'Word outta Hollywood is "Justice League of America" director George Miller may have found his Wonder Woman.

According to a recent interview with Miller published in Australia's Herald Sun, Aussie supermodel and actress Megan Gale "blitzed her competition" after reading for the part of the Amazonian Princess and Justice League staple, stunning the award-winning director with her acting chops and fueling rumors that she's been offered the role. Gale had been long-rumored to have snagged the role. Previously, Jessica Biel had been in talks to don the famous bracelets but reportedly passed on the part.

Short of a cameo role in 2005's "Stealth", Gale is a relative unknown stateside, but has appeared in numerous Italian films and several news and entertianment programs for Australian television. Read More...

MTV Logo by Tony HarrisHi. I’m Casey. I’m new here.

Gonna try and keep my introduction short and sweet, since you’re obviously not here to hear me ramble on about my own bad-ass self -- you’re here for the comics!

I’ve been in the funny book business for almost a decade now -- starting out at Wizard Magazine as a staff writer, and then moving over to DC/Vertigo Comics, editing books like "Sentences: The Life of MF Grimm" and "Hellblazer," and assisting on books like "100 Bullets," "Y: The Last Man," "D.M.Z.," "Scalped," "Superman," "Batman" and a ton of other titles and original graphic novels. I don’t mean to brag, but life’s been very good to my inner-geek so far. Read More...
