Walking Dead

If you ever wanted to live through a zombie apocalypse, here's your chance.

AMC TV has launched a new "Walking Dead" interactive Facebook app today titled "The Walking Dead: Left Behind," and it's pretty damn freaky. Basically, it drags you head first into the walker-filled world of the "Walking Dead," by drawing information from your account and incorporating it into a first-person viewing experience that feels right at home with the tone of the AMC survival horror series.

Here's how it works: after connecting your Facebook account to the "Left Behind" app, you'll be treated to a veritable short film starring you—yes, you—waking up in the midst of the apocalypse. With your hands covered in bloody bandages and your person confined in a police cell, you'll emerge and start piecing the puzzle together that the world has ended. Everyone and everything you know is gone.

John Hawkes

John Hawkes on "The Walking Dead" as The Governor. Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it? Too bad it's not going to happen.

Legendary horror FX guru Tom Savini dropped a bombshell in a recent interview, saying that "Walking Dead" producers were targeting Hawkes for the coveted role of Philip Blake, the psychotic zombie-killer who declares himself the Governor of Woodbury. Apparently, it is not to be: speaking with The Wrap, Hawkes' publicist states quite plainly that "John is NOT appearing on The Walking Dead."

We'll get a longer look when the full "Avengers" TV spot hits the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 5).

"Marvel's The Avengers" assembles in theaters on May 4, 2012.

Walking Dead

Even though we're not likely to see him until season three, there's little doubt that The Governor is going to find his way onto "The Walking Dead." Easily the cruelest, most memorable villain to ever grace the paneled pages of Robert Kirkman's zombie apocalypse, Philip Blake's eventual arrival on the AMC horror series isn't just likely, it's inevitable.

The question is, who will play the Governor? Ask horror legend Tom Savini, and he'll say it should be himself — but he'll also say that Oscar nominated actor John Hawkes is the frontrunner for the part.

Speaking with MovieWeb, Savini — the horror effects guru who counts "Dawn of the Dead" and "Friday the 13th" among his many credits — revealed his desire to get a role as The Governor on "The Walking Dead," and his belief that the role already belongs to Hawkes.

Bane

There's a darkness in Bane. You'd expect as much, considering that the masked terrorist is fond of killing federal agents, crashing planes filled with dummy corpses, and breaking crime-fighters' backs from time to time.

But "Dark Knight Rises" actor Tom Hardy, who stars as Bane, does not share his character's dark side. Speaking with Latino Review at the UK premiere of "This Means War," Hardy insisted that he never had to get himself into an emotionally cold place in order to play Bane.

"Chronicle" has gifted Josh Trank with a very useful opportunity for learning his way around the superhero genre. Useful, we say, because rumor has it that the young filmmaker is Fox's lead choice to direct their upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot. Ask Trank himself about the possibility, however, and you'll get a very different -- and very vague -- answer.

“I really have nothing to say about ['Fantastic Four'] because I know as much about this as everyone else," Trank told MTV News' Kara Warner during a recent interview for "Chronicle," out in theaters this Friday (February 3). "I’m just working on my own original stuff right now.”

Stephen Amell

Ladies and gentlemen, we present Oliver Queen… and no, it's not the dude from "Smallville."

The developing CW pilot "Arrow" has found its titular bow-wielding vigilante in the form of Stephen Amell. Deadline reports that Amell has nabbed the lead role of Oliver Queen in the developing pilot, which David Nutter is directing based on a script from Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim.

Amell is already a fixture among the CW faithful, having appeared on both "The Vampire Diaries" and "90210" for two episodes each. He's also held roles on the recently canceled "Hung" and the ongoing medical drama "Private Practice."

Ryan Reynolds. "Deadpool." We want it to happen. It has to happen. But every year we move away from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," the less and less hopeful we get that we'll actually get to see Reynolds crack wise as the Merc with the Mouth.

Luckily, Reynolds himself remains optimistic about the film's eventual prospects. Speaking with MTV News at the press junket for "Safe House," Reynolds revealed that "the script is there [for 'Deadpool'], everything just comes down to budget and time."
