Warbound

With rumors abounding that the popular storylines "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" may serve as the basis for the next Hulk movie and third Avengers movie respectively, fans are looking back to those storylines to see what elements the movies might borrow if the rumors prove true.

One of the most intriguing aspects of those storylines were the allies that Hulk gathered during "Planet Hulk" and brought back to Earth to aid him in wreaking havoc during "World War Hulk." That assemblage of aliens, known as the Warbound, are represented by species from every corner of the universe, united by their loyalty to the Hulk who proved himself a worthy leader on the planet Sakaar.

This week in Galaxy Guide, we're going to take a look at each member of the Warbound, and see what they contribute to the force the Hulk uses to bring vengeance to Earth.

Arrow

"Arrow" fans are gearing up for the debut of Count Vertigo on the January 30 episode of the series, but some may be wondering: just who is Count Vertigo anyway?

While the show's incarnation of the character promises to be very different from his comic book roots, we still thought it might be instructive to take a look back at the original conception of the character, to learn just why the folks behind the show saw him as a worthy adversary to bring into the Arrowverse.

Kree Skrull

The past week has been filled with "Guardians of the Galaxy" casting rumors, but perhaps none were as tantalizing as the possibility of Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Star-Lord. That possibility has now apparently been put to bed, but it's worth noting that while Gordon-Levitt may have been in the running to play the Guardians' lone human member, he first gained fame playing an alien on the critically acclaimed sitcom "3rd Rock From The Sun."

Given that, this week we’ve decided to put the spotlight on three of the most notable alien races of the Marvel Universe, some of whom may well play a role in upcoming Marvel films.

Heaven Sent

In a recent interview, director Guillermo Del Toro revealed that development on "Dark Universe," a film focusing on DC's supernatural characters, is now underway. Del Toro named some of the heroes — if they can be called that — of the proposed film, including John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Etrigan The Demon, and Zatanna. But with such offbeat protagonists, it begs the question: what of the villains?

This week in Hollywood Justice, we're going to run down a list of five villains who pose a threat that extends beyond the world of traditional superheroics, and into the supernatural.

Star Wars

In the wake of Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, and with it, the "Star Wars" franchise, there has been much speculation about one particular corner of that multimedia juggernaut, namely the "Star Wars" comic books. Produced exclusively by independent publisher Dark Horse since 1991, questions immediately arose about the future of the "Star Wars" comics in light of another Disney acquisition of the past few years: Marvel Entertainment, which among other things is the comic book industry's leading publisher.

According to recent reports, a decision has been made, and Dark Horse will lose the license to Marvel after 2013, with new "Star Wars" comics coming from Marvel in 2015. But could the Marvel/Star Wars connection extend beyond the comic book arena, and even onto the big-screen? Marvel has their own space opera in "Guardians of the Galaxy" hitting theaters in 2014, so we thought it might be fun to compare and contrast the characters populating these respective space epics, and see how they might fit together… or not.

Guardians of the Galaxy

One of the things we value most here at Galaxy Guide is you, the reader. The fact that you folks take time out of your busy schedules to read our musings on the cosmic side of comic book movies every week is what makes it all worthwhile. So when one of our readers contacted us through the official MTV Splash Page Twitter account with a special request, we just couldn't say no.

This week, we're going to take a look at a different set of Guardians of the Galaxy, not the ones slated to appear in 2014's feature film, but the original team, the ones who came before, and yet paradoxically also came after. That's because the Guardians of the Galaxy, as first introduced, were a team from the far flung future of the 31st century who would go on to inspire the creation of the modern day team. That gives the two teams a crucial link, so there's always the possibility, however remote, that some of the characters from the original might turn up in the film or eventual sequels.

Here now, we run down a list of five future Guardians who could make their mark on the big-screen.
