Jeff BridgesEven though Ryan Reynolds' involvement with "R.I.P.D." has become a bit uncertain, that hasn't stopped the studio from finding an impressive co-star for the film. According to a new report, Jeff Bridges has officially joined the upcoming adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics series.

Bridges will take on the role of Roy, a veteran officer in the Rest In Peace Department, reports The Wrap. The Oscar winner was previously rumored to be in talks for the part, replacing rumored contender Zach Galifianakis.

"R.I.P.D." is based on a 2003 comic book series by Peter Lenkov and Lucas Marangon, and follows a police department staffed by undead cops. Reynolds is currently attached to play Nick Cruz, a recently slain officer on the hunt for his murderer. Read More...

The WolverineIt's been more than a month since we last heard any word on "The Wolverine," the follow-up to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" that's currently in search of a director. According to a new report, the search for a filmmaker continues, but has been narrowed down to eight names.

According to Variety, the list of potential directors includes Jose Padilha ("Elite Squad"), Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity "), Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"), Mark Romanek ("One Hour Photo"), Justin Lin ("Fast Five"), Gavin O’Connor ("Miracle"), James Mangold ("3:10 to Yuma"), and commercial director Gary Shore (who directed the short film "Wolverine Vs. The Hand").

The mix of big-budget filmmakers like Lin and largely unknown directors like Shore and Padilha (who was recently attached to a "Robocop" remake) would seem to indicate that the studio is casting a wide net for the project. Read More...

X-Men: First Class"X-Men: First Class" hits theaters next week, and lately there's been no shortage of new interviews, sneak peeks, and other evidence of the promotional home stretch leading up to the film's release. Amid all of the television spots and teasers that recycle the same footage, it's always nice to see a cool, original way to promote the film — like a recent Farmers Insurance ad that features a cameo from one of Charles Xavier's students.

In the ad, actor J.K. Simmons (who, coincidentally, played Daily Bugle chief J.Jonah Jameson in the "Spider-Man" movies) introduces a class of new Farmers Insurance agents to an exchange student from Charles Xavier's school: the blue-furred mutant nicknamed Beast.

Their guest doesn't manage to get much of a word in before Simmons' character wonders aloud what their agent is doing at the X-Men academy, which leads into a scene featuring the Farmers Insurance agent holding a target as Havok unleashes one of his mutant energy blasts. Read More...

The Dark Knight RisesThere's been a flurry of casting news for "The Dark Knight Rises" hitting the 'net lately, and now that we have a few moments to breathe, it seemed like a good time to find out what you think about the latest headlines.

Here's a quick recap, just in case you missed anything (which is entirely possible, given how quickly news has been developing):

- On Friday, we got our first look at Tom Hardy as Bane, courtesy of a clever viral marketing campaign for "The Dark Knight rises" (with the assistance of some clever code-divers).
- On Monday, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, and Joey King joined the cast. Modine will reportedly play a character named "Nixon."
- Earlier today, "Lost" actor Brett Cullen and "Transformers" actor Chris Ellis were added to the cast, playing a judge and a priest, respectively. Read More...

"Captain America: The First Avenger" won't arrive in theaters until July, but we're not the only ones looking forward to the film's premiere.

When MTV News visited the set of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," we spoke to actor Dominic Cooper about playing Howard Stark, the brilliant industrialist and father to Tony Stark. Cooper offered up some of his thoughts about playing a key role in Marvel's cinematic universe and whether fans will like what they see when "Captain America" hits theaters.

"I can't wait to see it," Cooper told MTV News. Read More...

Stan LeeIt was only a few weeks ago that I was telling you when to watch out for Stan Lee's cameo in "Thor," and now it looks like we have a little more info about the legendary creator's appearance in another movie featuring one of his creations: "The Amazing Spider-Man."

Lee appeared at last weekend's Dallas Comic Con and teased his cameos in both "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Captain America: The First Avenger." Pressed for details about the "Spider-Man" cameo, he described the scene in which he'll make an appearance, and praised it as one of his favorite cameo so far.

The good folks at BigFanboy were there to capture Lee's comments, so this is the part when I issue a big ol' SPOILER WARNING for anyone who doesn't want to know about Lee's appearance in the film or the cool scene in which it occurs. Read More...

Brett CullenThe casting news for "The Dark Knight Rises" continues to develop this week, with two more actors joining the cast of the much-anticipated third — and final — installment of Christopher Nolan's gritty Batman franchise.

According to Variety, actors Brett Cullen (pictured) and Chris Ellis have been added to the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises." The report indicates that Cullen and Ellis will play a judge and a priest, respectively.

"Lost" fans will likely remember Cullen as Goodwin Stanhope, one of the mysterious Others that the survivors of Oceanic Flight 813 encounter early in the series. He also played Johnny Blaze's father, stunt rider Barton Blaze, in the 2007 film "Ghost Rider." Read More...

Last we heard from the "Wanted" camp, plans for a sequel remained in limbo, without even star James McAvoy sure of the project's status.

With "Wanted" director Timur Bekmambetov currently hard at work on "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," MTV News made sure to ask his producing partner Jim Lemley whether a sequel to the 2008 hit starring McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, and Morgan Freeman was still in the works.

"We still talk sometimes about 'Wanted 2,'" he told MTV News. "We want to try and continue that story because it's a very interesting one for us." Read More...

Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesWay back in October 2009, we brought you the news that Leonardo, Donatello, and the rest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were getting a new animated series to go along with the planned feature film blending live action and CGI effects. Now it looks like the Heroes In A Half Shell will also return to their true roots with a brand new comic book series, too.

IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon recently announced plans for a new series that will kick off this August and feature a creative team led by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. While the first story arc will introduce a brand new villain to the TMNT universe — a mutant alley cat named "Old Hob" — all the regulars will also play a role in the rebooted TMNT adventures.

In the official announcement of the comic book series, there's also mention of a new premiere date for the upcoming CGI "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" animated series, now scheduled to air in late 2012. Read More...

"Green Lantern" hits theaters in just a few weeks now, so it's no surprise that we're seeing bunches of new "Green Lantern" trailers, television spots, and other promotional footage popping up around the 'net lately. What is a bit of a surprise, however, is how much new footage we're seeing in the aforementioned teasers.

For example, check out the new theatrical trailer for "Green Lantern" that arrived online this weekend:

Posted at Yahoo Movies, the new trailer is narrated by Geoffrey Rush, who voices the beaked Green Lantern named Tomar-Re. Read More...
