Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'Wanted: Weapons of Fate'FROM MULTIPLAYER BLOG: Some rather fiendish combat and a lot of slow-motion bullet-fire failed to ruin my second hands-on demo of March’s “Wanted: Weapons of Fate” game, even if the game’s producer was certain I’d be too squeamish. Wary of my reaction, he began my hands-on time with the game in a most unusual way…

“I should have brought you the German version,” Pete Wanat, producer of the upcoming game “Wanted: Weapons of Fate” said as he greeted me last week for a demo of his game. German versions of games tend to be tamer than their global counterparts due to that country’s content restrictions. Wanat was joking. Sort of.

Who is the greatest movie badass of all time? That's the question MTV has been asking accomplished actors, filmmakers, and readers of Movies Blog and Splash Page, and we're happy to announce that the final results are in!

We'll reveal the baddest of the badasses on February 6 at 7:15 PM (EST), when MTV announces the winner live at New York Comic Con and here on MTV.com. Until then, however, MTV is revealing each of the 10 finalists for the "Greatest Badass" mantle -- one per day and in alphabetical order. So far, we've honored the extensive badassery of "Star Wars" bounty hunter Boba Fett and "Alien" fighter Ellen Ripley, while notable MTV Movies mainstays Kurt Loder and Larry Carroll each provided their lists of the film world's greatest tough guys (and gals).

And just in case you needed a reminder why why Boba Fett made the cut, here's a montage we created of some of his greatest hits (minus the dip into the Sarlacc pit, of course):

It's always a good time to watch Boba Fett in action, isn't it? Keep it locked to MTV.com every day leading up to the big reveal on Friday, Feb. 6 to find out more of the contenders for the title of GREATEST BADASS IN MOVIE HISTORY!

'Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe'FROM MULTIPLAYER: Midway announced today they’ve shipped 1.8 million copies of “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” and said work on the next, most likely M-rated “Mortal Kombat” has already started. Series co-creator Ed Boon told us a little bit about the new title at last summer’s Comic Con (we never reported it). Here’s what he said.

Comic book characters are not the future of the “Mortal Kombat” franchise, series co-creator Ed Boon told me last summer at Comic Con in San Diego. Eventually, “Mortal Kombat” would return to its M-rated, violent roots.

'The Dark Knight'Well, another week is over and it's time to reminisce on all the great times we shared over the last 5-6 days, folks. We laughed, we cried, and we even went back in time for a little while. Here's a quick recap of what went down:

- The Academy Awards didn't think enough of "The Dark Knight" to nominate it for "Best Picture," but Heath Ledger received his well-deserved nomination. Meanwhile, we collected some thoughts on "The Dark Knight" from filmmakers who certainly put it high on their lists.

- While Sam Rockwell looked ahead to "Iron Man 2" homework, MTV brought you the news that Billy Bob Thornton was almost the man in the "Iron Man" mask!

- J. Jonah Jameson himself (or rather the actor who portrayed him, J.K. Simmons) told MTV that filming for "Spider-Man 4" would begin in 2010.

- There was all sorts of new stuff hitting the 'Net for the comics-friendly thriller "Push," including three exclusive new images from "Push" that debuted on Splash Page, a new "Push" TV trailer, a new clip from the film, and finally, our interview with the film's director about casting teenage actress Dakota Fanning.

- "The Shadow" producer Michael Uslan teased some very intriguing details about the upcoming film.

- Finally, "Batman Begins" villain Liam Neeson told us Christopher Nolan had his number if he ever wanted to bring back the immortal Ra's Al Ghul.

That's it for now, readers, but have faith...our paths will cross again next week!

Guillermo del ToroWith work on "The Hobbit" really starting to move forward, Guillermo del Toro updated MTV News this week with exclusive scripting, casting and pre-production news, including confirmation that "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola will be coming aboard for early visualization.

"We are sketching and designing with Weta's John Howe, and [Adam Lee]," del Toro offered. "Mike Mignola is coming soon. He's going to do a stint on the design team."

This is good news for fans of Mignola, who worked with del Toro on both "Hellboy" films as well as providing some art for "Pan's Labyrinth."

Tobey MaguireFROM NEWSROOM BLOG: The Hollywood studio system couldn’t make it happen, but President-elect Barack Obama pulled off a bit of movie-worthy magic today. No, he didn’t make the country’s trillions of dollars in debt disappear via high-tech FX overnight before he even moves into the White House; he brought Superman and Spider-Man together in the same room to fight for the good of the nation.

OK, so maybe it was actually actors Tobey Maguire and Brandon Routh. They were on hand at Abram Simon Elementary to perform some community service as part of the president-elect’s call to community action on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. But the momentous meeting was the kind that comic geeks salivate over.

'Watchmen'It was a busy one this week, but maybe that's because the news began breaking early and never let up! Here's a recap of this week's big stories:

- In what was possibly the biggest story of the week (and maybe the year?), we saw the end of the "Watchmen" legal battle. Sure, we were glad to see it end, but now what are we supposed to write about?

- Just in case you've been living under a rock, we brought you up to speed with the team-up between Spider-Man and U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama, fist-bumps and all!

- There was a lot of action with Marvel's much-anticipated slate of upcoming movies, with Eva Longoria addressing "Avengers" casting rumors, then Mickey Rourke "bringing it all" to a potential "Iron Man 2" role.

- "The Dark Knight" had another busy week in the headlines, with Heath Ledger winning a Golden Globe, then Aaron Eckhart hinting at the return of Two-Face.

- Marvel jumped back into the headlines later in the week when Emily Blunt became a likely addition to the "Iron Man 2" cast and Sam Rockwell confirmed his "Iron Man 2" role during an exclusive MTV interview.

But that wasn't all we had for you this week...

- Comics-savvy producer Michael Uslan teased that his Captain Marvel/Shazam movie is still alive and kicking.

- Director Sam Mendes told us why he still has plans for a "Preacher" movie.

- And finally, we gave you a must-read list of Legion of Super-Heroes and Superman stories in advance of the teen superteam's debut on "Smallville."

Was that everything? If not, it was a pretty decent approximation of a crazy week here at Splash Page HQ! See you next time!

'The Dark Knight'FROM MULTIPLAYER: While giant video game publisher Electronic Arts still won’t admit that a “Dark Knight” game was under development at the company in 2008, the existence of such a project had been widely rumored and winked at throughout the last calendar year. Still, no game based on the movie was released for any of the major console and handheld gaming systems.

But a report in the Australian version of gaming blog Kotaku goes into great detail about a now-canceled “Dark Knight” game that was in development all year at the Brisbane offices of EA-owned development studio Pandemic.

'The Dark Knight'FROM MTV.COM: Heath Ledger emerged victorious Sunday night at the Golden Globes, winning for his portrayal of the Joker in "The Dark Knight." While director Christopher Nolan accepted the award on the late actor's behalf, Ledger's daughter, Matilda Rose, will end up with the Globe, according to Ledger's mother.

Actually, Sally Bell told People.com that Matilda will get all of her father's posthumous awards.

"I should imagine that eventually it will be going to Matilda," Bell said in an interview from her home in Perth, Australia. "At this stage, she is only so young, but down the track, she will have all these things. It will belong to her, because she is part of him."
