Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson's "Hercules" will be coming to us a little sooner than we expected, as the Brett Ratner-directed movie's release date has officially been bumped up two weeks.

Paramount Pictures and MGM have announced that "Hercules" is now slated to come out on July 25, 2014. Originally it had been announced that "Hercules" would hit theaters on August 8, 2014, the week after "Guardians of the Galaxy." Now the movie has one up on that Marvel movie, but will have to deal with the aftermath of "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," both of which are coming out on July 18, 2014. So far no other movies are slated for the July 25 release date.

Wonder Woman

Warner Bros. hasn't yet found a way to make a "Wonder Woman" movie or TV series quite work, but stuntman-turned-director Jesse V. Johnson has. The longtime member of the film community decided recently he wanted to give his hand at directing and made a concept fan trailer for his idea of an epic "Wonder Woman" movie. Well, he has succeeded admirably.

As he told Latino Review, "It was my manager / producing partner Kailey Marsh’s idea to shoot the trailer. She really believes I should be a studio director, and thought shooting 'Wonder Woman' would be a great way to show off my skills in a fun way that people could get excited about." Consider us excited, and you likely will be too after you watch Johnson's video after the jump.

Justice League Dark

Guillermo del Toro's plans for a "Justice League Dark" movie still seem to be underway. In a new interview while promoting the movie "Mama," the "Pacific Rim" director admitted that he'll soon be bringing his ideas for the ensemble DC superhero film to higher ups at Warner Bros.

"I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens," del Toro told Total Film. "It's going really really well. It's like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heart."

Man of Steel

Though it remains to be seen how big Russell Crowe's role as Jor-El will be in "Man of Steel," there's no denying he's pretty excited about the movie. Crowe visited "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and opened up about the film -- and what it means to be playing the father of Superman.

"It's a reboot of the franchise with Zack Snyder who did the '300' film, with a young English fellow called Henry Cavill as Superman or Kal-El as I would call him because he's my son," Crowe said. "Times have changed, I'm Superman's dad."

The Crow

Could it be that the long-planned "The Crow" remake isn't so dead-in-the-water after all? It's being reported that James McAvoy is in talks to join the flick as leading man Eric Draven, though the news hasn't been confirmed by Dimension Films.

Bloody Disgusting was the site to report the McAvoy news. His is the first actor's name to be attached to the project since Bradley Cooper departed years ago. F. Javier Gutierrez is slated to direct this iteration of the film.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's part in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" has already wrapped, and if he's to be believed, it's going to be awesome. MTV News caught up with the actor on the Oscars red carpet, and he explained what made that set different from any other he's been on.

"Yeah, we shot it already. It went so great," he explained. "Robert Rodriguez is just a delightful human being. He's got so much creativity pouring out of him. He's got a painting studio set up next to where we shoot so that when there's downtime he encourages people to just go paint. How cool is that? So cool."

FDR

The FBI are coming to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and so is... Franklin Delano Roosevelt? The latest tweet from director Marc Webb teases that the former president could have something to do with the movie's plot.

"Day 12. #thepassage," he tweeted, along with a taped-together picture of FDR. This clue about the upcoming movie is a bit harder to figure out than some of Webb's other ones, but the popular theory is that it has something to do with New York City's Roosevelt Island.

Beasts of Burden

Shane Acker is returning to the realm of animated film. The "9" director will next tackle the CG animated feature "Beasts of Burden," based on the Dark Horse Comics series of the same name.

Reel FX announced the partnership, and says that "Turbo" scribe Darren Lemke is writing the script for the movie. Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson wrote the comic books, which tell the story of a group of animals that look into various paranormal events that happen in their Burden Hill neighborhood. Sounds like a story that's right up Acker's alley.
