Free Comic Book Day 2010: Iron Man, Thor And Superman Help You Celebrate The Holiday!

FCBDHere at Splash Page HQ, we can hardly contain our excitement for Free Comic Book Day 2010 this weekend. It's the one day of the year where there's absolutely no excuse not to head straight out to the local comic book shop bright and early in the morning (not that you shouldn't hit up your store of choice every Wednesday, of course)!

Comic book publishers are offering brand-new, compelling stories completely free of charge at stores nationwide, with many creators even slated to make guest appearances at certain shops. From further tales of Iron Man and Thor to a war waged by Superman, there is plenty of diversity on display within this year's Free Comic Book Day offerings.

EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Swift 'Fame' Comic Book Gets A New Cover!

Taylor SwiftFrom Lady Gaga to Kristen Stewart, Bluewater Productions' new line of "Fame" biography comics has put the spotlight on a host of pop-culture celebrities — and now we have your first look at a new cover for their latest subject: award-winning musician Taylor Swift.

Hitting comic book shops in July, "Fame: Taylor Swift" promises to chronicle the musician's "rise from young singer/songwriter to mega-selling recording artist." The 32-page comic is written by CW Cooke and PR McCormack, and features interior art by Erick Adrian Marquez and covers by Marquez and JuanMar Studios.

'Interview With A Vampire' Author Anne Rice Next Up For 'Female Force' Biography Comic Line

Female Force: Anne RiceFrom "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer to comedian Ellen DeGeneres, Bluewater Productions' line of "Female Force" biography comics has covered a wide range of pop-culture personalities, and now we have your first look at the next subject in their popular series: best-selling author Anne Rice.

One of the most widely read authors in the world, Rice is best-known for her "Vampire Chronicles" series — specifically, "Interview with the Vampire," her first novel. Scheduled for release in June, "Female Force: Anne Rice" promises to follow the author "from her formative years in her beloved New Orleans through the tragedies that influenced the creation of her most popular novels and her fervent rediscovery of Catholicism."

The 22-page comic will be written by Scott Davis with interior and cover art by Louie Demartinis. Bluewater Productions has provided Splash Page readers with an exclusive preview of the first three unlettered pages of the comic, as well as the two covers the comic will feature. Read More...

EXCLUSIVE: 'Fame: Kristen Stewart' Comic Book Preview

Kristen Stewart comic bookFirst it was Lady Gaga on the cover of Bluewater Productions' new line of "Fame" biography comics, then it was "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. Now Pattinson's "Twilight" co-star, Kristen Stewart, will make her debut as a comic book cover girl — and we have your exclusive first look.

Written by Kim Sherman (who also penned the Robert Pattinson "Fame" comic) with interior art by Warren Martineck and covers by Juanmar Studios and Randy Green, "Fame: Kristen Stewart" promises to "show readers the depth residing in this young woman and the roles she’s beautifully tackled through a series of spot shots, pinups and word art." The 32-page comic hits shelves in June.

Joan Jett And The Runaways Get Comic Book Treatment For 'Rock 'N Roll Comics'

Joan Jett and the RunawaysKristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning are getting primed for their big-screen debut as "The Runaways" rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, but comic shops will receive their own dose of '70s rock-and-roll later this month with "Rock 'N' Roll Comics: Joan Jett and the Runaways."

Bluewater Productions' "Rock 'N' Roll Comics" series features republished material from the original magazine that launched in 1989. The comics offered unauthorized comics-style biographies of their subjects, which included Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Dylan and various other musicians and their bands.

With "Twilight" star Stewart portraying Jett in "The Runaways" movie, the upcoming comic promises to offer yet another take on the popular singer's life and career.

"Rock 'N' Roll Comics: Joan Jett and the Runaways" will hit shelves in June 2010 and is written by Spike Steffenhagen and Jay Allen Sanford, with interior art by Joe Paradise and Larry Nadolsky, and a cover by Michal Szyksznian that you can get your first look at here. Read More...

EXCLUSIVE: 'True Blood' Creator Next Subject Of 'Female Force' Bio Comics

charlaine Harris - True BloodIt's a big week for "True Blood" author Charlaine Harris in the comics world, with an announcement earlier this week that her popular Harper Connelly series was receiving a comic book adaptation. Now, we bring you the exclusive news that Harris will be the next subject of Bluewater Productions' "Female Force" comic book biographies.

Hitting shelves in May, "Female Force: Charlaine Harris" promises to explore the author's career "from the publication of the lighthearted Aurora Teargarden mysteries to the phenomenon of her vampire-infused Sookie Stackhouse stories." And unlike previous "Female Force" books, Bluewater reports that Harris took an active role in the development of the comic, discussing her career with the comic's writer, Kim Sherman (who also authored the publisher's "Fame: Robert Pattinson" bio).

EXCLUSIVE: First Look At New 'Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story' Hardcover Edition

Twilight Unbound Stephenie Meyer comic bookIt's no surprise that Bluewater Productions' comic book biography of "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer sold well — very well, in fact — so it should probably be no surprise that yet another printing of the comic is headed to shelves.

Revealed exclusively to MTV News today, the publisher announced plans for a new, hardcover edition of "Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story," featuring updated content and a brand new cover image. The edition will hit shelves in May before "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" arrives in theaters, and include post-"New Moon" updates on the cast and, of course, the creator of the "Twilight" books.

Lady Gaga comic bookLast month, we gave you the first look at "Fame: Lady Gaga," the upcoming biography comic hitting shelves later this year from Bluewater Productions. Since the first cover created such a stir, we're back with an exclusive peek at two more covers planned for the issue.

Just in case you missed the news the first time around, the new line of "Fame" comics will present unauthorized biographies of celebrities from the music and movie world, kicking off with MTV's Woman of the Year, Lady Gaga. According to the publisher, the preview issue of "Fame: Lady Gaga" will be available in May for Free Comic Book Day, and future issues will focus on such notable pop-culture icons as 50 Cent, David Beckham and Taylor Swift.

While Gaga's debut was certainly big news, "Twilight" fans were most excited about the presence of franchise actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the "Fame" lineup.

Now, we have your first look at a new cover for "Fame: Robert Pattinson," as well as an exclusive preview of interior art from the comic. Arriving on shelves in May, the 32-page comic promises to "trace Pattinson's career from his first performance in Tess of the D'Urbervilles at London's Barnes Theatre to his star turn in the Twilight movies."

EXCLUSIVE: 'Female Force: Ellen DeGeneres' Comic Book Preview

Ellen DeGeneresLast month, we gave you the first look at "Female Force: Ellen DeGeneres," the latest in Bluewater Productions' line of comic-book biographies of famous women. Back then, we only had unlettered, black-and-white pages from the comic, but now we have an exclusive, finished preview of the issue hitting shelves in March.

The comic promises to follow the entertainer "from her youth in Louisiana, through the endless smoke-filled comedy club circuit, to her breakthrough sitcom and finally as an Emmy-winning daytime talk show host." Written by Sandra C. Ruckdeschel with art by Pedro Ponzo, "Female Force: Ellen DeGeneres" will feature many of the touchstone moments from her career — including her recent addition to the "American Idol" judging panel.

The publisher has also informed MTV News that a portion of the proceeds from the comic will be donated to The Humane Society in DeGeneres' name. Read More...
