Quicksilver Scarlet Witch

by Brett White

When Joss Whedon flat-out stated that he intended on including a "brother and sister act" in "The Avengers 2," it caused the entire comic book community to do a double-take. The most prominent brother and sister pair in Marvel Comics are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, two characters everyone pretty much assumed were tied up over at Fox since they are the children of Magneto and, you know... mutants. But apparently Fox's film rights to Marvel's mutants contain a loophole for longtime Avengers like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. And since the pair most likely aren't showing up in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" or "The Wolverine," Marvel is free to call dibs. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige didn't deny the duo's inclusion in Whedon's first draft, either.

The sequel isn't due in theaters for another two years, so firm confirmation and casting is definitely a ways away (we have "Iron Man 3" to get through first!), but that doesn't mean I can't start wildly speculating. For this casting call, I'm looking only at actors that already work together for two reasons: 1. Pietro and Wanda Maximoff need to work off of each other effortlessly and casting them together makes sense; 2. This arbitrary limitation prohibits me from just listing all the usual suspects (sorry Connie Britton, who should be in literally everything).

Check out the candidates below.

X-Men_First_Class

by Brett White

We've spent the last few weeks being bombarded with casting announcements for Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The thing is, almost all of them have been for returning cast members from the previous three X-Men films. These actors will most likely be on the future side of the time-travel story, so it's somewhat shocking that the past X-Men of 1973 are so under-represented. This is, at its core, a sequel to "X-Men: First Class," but the classic returning actors outnumber the "First Class" cast two-to-one.

So far only James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are reprising their roles from "X-Men: First Class." Of those four, only two of them (McAvoy's Xavier and Hoult's Beast) are even X-Men. With Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert), Lucas Till (Havok) and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) still M.I.A., it looks like the classic X-Men are a dynamic duo. Who else could be on the team?

Omar Sy

by Brett White

Omar Sy, best known for the French film "The Intouchables," has just joined the seemingly never-ending cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The actor makes a welcome addition to the film, but director Bryan Singer has been mum about who he's playing. With Singer using so much of his previous cast in the film, odds are Sy will be suiting up as someone we have yet to see on film. Here are our best guesses.

Guardians of the Galaxy

by Brett White

With "Parks and Recreation" star Chris Pratt confirmed for Star-Lord and Jason Momoa of "Game of Thrones" fame in talks to go green as Drax the Destroyer, it looks as if the big-screen adaptation of "Guardians of the Galaxy" is going to be filled with popular actors from the disparate worlds of television dramas and comedies. With that in mind, we're going to take a crack at casting the rest of the main squad, pulling one name from each genre.

Peter Dinklage

by Brett White

The casting of Peter Dinklage in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" came out of nowhere this week. The fan-favorite actor has proven he has serious chops as Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones," and now he's joining the ranks of Bryan Singer's ever-expanding, sure-to-be-epic X-Men sequel.

There's nothing bad about this news, except for the identity of Dinklage's character: it appears that Dinklage is playing the bad guy in this time-spanning sequel.

This comes as a serious surprise, since this casting seems to confirm that the film's villain will in no way tie into the original comic story. Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants were the heavies then, but Dinklage's casting and Mystique's essential role as a protagonist in "X-Men: First Class" means that this villain will be totally unexpected… unless Singer really wants to up Avalanche's profile.

Here are the X-Villains we could see The Dinklage tackling.

Cyclops Storm

by Brett White

With Bryan Singer snatching up actors from his previous tenure as X-director, it seems more reasonable to ask who won't be in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" when it hits theaters in 2014.

With Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page all suiting up one more time, it's worthwhile to take a closer look at the actors Singer has yet to re-enlist. Is there room for them in a movie that's starting to make the sizeable Avengers team seem quaint? Let's find out!

Dane DeHaan is Harry Osborn. But who should play his dad? Between a reference to the ailing Oscorp figurehead in the first "Amazing Spider-Man" to DeHaan's casting, it's only a matter of time before we find out who is playing Norman Osborn — the man who ultimately becomes Spidey's arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is headed to the Amazon — but first, The CW needs to find its Wonder Woman.

Deadline reports that the network is about to launch into the casting process for "Amazon," their small-screen adaptation of the popular DC Comics superhero. Some details have emerged about the character and the plot of the show, and the big headline is this: Wonder Woman's name won't be Diana, but Iris. Purists, have your way with that one. (UPDATE: Both Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg say "Iris" is just a code word for "Diana." Crisis averted!)

Star-Lord

"Guardians of the Galaxy," the biggest wild card in Marvel Studios' hand, has officially begun casting! We reported late yesterday that a handful of actors have signed test deals to audition for Peter Quill, the half-alien known as Star-Lord.

The eight actors named in the original report rank among Hollywood's most sought-after, so we figured we'd break down the list of those in contention to give you a better idea of just who might lead the Guardians when they hit the screen in August 2014.

Guardians

You wanted "Guardians of the Galaxy" casting news? You got it.

Director James Gunn's adaptation of Marvel's cosmic superheroes reportedly has its eye on five actors: Joel Edgerton ("Warrior"), Jack Huston ("Boardwalk Empire"), Jim Sturgess ("Cloud Atlas"), Lee Pace ("The Hobbit" and "Twilight" films) and Eddie Redmayne ("Les Miserables"), according to Variety's Jeff Sneider.

These five actors have reportedly signed test deals for Marvel's ambitious space-set epic, so don't start banking on any one of them taking home the grand prize.
