Scott PilgrimI knew something was up when "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" director Edgar Wright posted a trio of mysterious messages on Twitter today.

"Wait. What's that? (looks into distance)," he wrote around 11 AM EST, adding just a few minutes later, "(squints) Ah. I guess it was just a mirage or something."

What he was hinting at was the debut of the "Scott Pilgrim" teaser trailer just a few minutes ago on Apple Movies. While we can't embed the trailer here for you (Boo to you, Apple! Boo!), we do have a few new images that were released along with it. Read More...

Chris EvansThe long road to casting the lead role in "The First Avenger: Captain America" could be nearing its end, with actor Chris Evans offered the Marvel Comics' hero's iconic red, white and blue uniform.

While there's been no official word from Marvel Studios or Evans' representatives at this point, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the "Fantastic Four" actor has been offered the role of soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers. According to the report, Evans would commit to up to three movies based on the character if he accepts the role, as well as "The Avengers" and other unnamed Marvel movies.

If Evans is indeed offered the role and accepts, it would be the fourth live-action comic book movie he appears in (not including 2007's animated "TMNT" movie, in which he voiced Casey Jones). Read More...

Team Whedon's online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" surprised a lot of people in 2008 when the first chapter of the three-act production went live with stars Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day. The project went on to spawn prequels and spin-offs in the comic book world, a hit album and fast-selling DVD, and as many expected, an as-yet-untitled sequel.

However, when we caught up with Dr. Horrible himself, Harris told MTV News he expects the sequel to take on a notably different form than its predecessor — namely, as a feature-length film that debuts offline rather than on the Web.

"Apparently they're making a 'Dr. Horrible' sequel — a feature film, I hope," laughed Harris. "I hope they cast me in it — we'll see." Read More...

Felicia DayWith prominent roles in Joss Whedon's television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and his online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," actress Felicia Day already has a lot of fans — but for many people (myself included), it's her ongoing web series "The Guild" that first won her a place of honor in our geeky little hearts.

Chronicling the adventures of gamer Cyd Sherman as she navigates the troubled waters of real-life drama and relationships in both the online and offline worlds, "The Guild" has been described as a "love letter to gaming." Day stars, writes and produces the award-winning web series, which recently saw its third season released on DVD.

And now she's bringing it to the comic book world.

MTV News caught up with the hardworking actress/filmmaker to chat about the upcoming "The Guild" comic hitting shelves March 24 from Dark Horse Comics. Day wrote the script for the three-issue series, which will feature art by "Street Angel" creator Jim Rugg. Read More...

Christian Bale as SupermanIt’s the eighth day of production as Christian Bale pulls on the spandex. His character is a beacon of liberty and justice, striking out at evildoers and keeping the streets safe from super villains. But his nickname isn’t the Dark Knight…it’s the Man of Steel.

In 2003, before Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins,” director Wolfgang Petersen was set to direct “Batman vs. Superman,” a big-budget outing that set two of DC Comics’ biggest superheroes against each other. Now for the first time, MTV News can reveal that one of those on the shortlist for Krypton’s favorite son was none other than Christian Bale.

In an exclusive interview, Petersen – director of such blockbuster fare as “Air Force One,” “Outbreak,” “The Perfect Storm” and “The Neverending Story” – told us that Bale was among the two actors he met with for the role of Superman, with Josh Harnett being the second candidate. And according to the helmer, the film nearly happened. Read More...

No stranger to playing a villain, "Avatar" actor Stephen Lang will soon make the jump from high-tech military to swords and sorcery as the warlord Khalar Singh in "Conan."

Lang confirmed rumors that he'd been offered the role during an interview with MTV News conducted Sunday evening on the Oscars red carpet. Lang, who played Colonel Miles Quaritch in "Avatar," will star opposite Jason Momoa, who recently reported that the film will be based on Robert E. Howard's original "Conan" novels as opposed to past film iterations.

"I've accepted the role of Khalar Singh," Lang told MTV News when asked about the rumor. Read More...

Serenity: Float OutMuch like his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" universe, the world of Joss Whedon's space-based series "Firefly" still manages to live on long after the final episode aired. In June, actor/comedian Patton Oswalt will add yet another chapter to the "Firefly" universe with a one-shot comic titled "Serenity: Float Out," picking up where the 2005 film left off.

Written by Oswalt with interior art by Patric Reynolds and a cover by "Buffy" artist Jo Chen, "Float Out" explores how the end of one character's life spins out into the beginning of a new chapter in the "Serenity" universe.

"Post-'Serenity,' a bunch of Wash's friends who we haven't met on the show, they're basically buying a new ship and christening it," said Oswalt of how the death of Serenity's pilot, Wash (played by Alan Tudyk), plays into the comic. "It’s called a 'float-out' when you christen a ship." Read More...
