Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

He's a member of the seminal Wu-Tang Clan, one of the hardest-working rappers in the game and has the tough-as-nails street cred to back it up. So it's probably surprising that in a money-down, hardcore comic book trivia game, our bet would be on Meth, no questions asked.

Owning an astonishing 25,000 comics, Method Man knows his stuff. During our interview, we covered everything from his upcoming graphic novel to "Secret Invasion" to his love for creators like Mike Mignola, Peter David and John Byrne. But there's one title at the top of his pile right now, and that's Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's "Kick-Ass." We've been covering it a lot lately, from the announcement of it becoming a film to the casting of Nic Cage. And hopefully soon you can add Method Man to the list; the MC-turned-actor is throwing his hat into the ring, enthusiastically hoping for the role of the "black cop." Given his passion for the material we'd love to see it happen...tell us what you think in the comments below.

'Rest'Anyone who’s ever felt overworked can be tempted by the premise of “Rest” – a new limited-edition comic series published by Devil’s Due and produced by Divide Pictures, “Heroes” star Milo Venitmiglia’s company (the main character also shares Milo’s likeness).

“Everyone wants more time,” Ventimiglia said. “As an actor, I work 12-15 hours a day, and at the end of the day when I’m not acting, I read 90-100 emails about business for the production company, so yes, I can identify with a guy who takes a drug so he doesn’t need to sleep. I don’t sleep much as it is!”

John Barrett, a New York-based office professional type, is approached by an old college buddy to take part in a pharmaceutical experiment – take a pill which allows you to function without sleep. What he does with his extra time – and why the government is sponsoring the experiment – becomes the focus of the four-to-five issue run, which starts in October. (It’ll later be collected as a trade paperback next year). Read More...

'Virulents'Director John Moore has one question when it comes to comic movies today -- "Why so serious?"

No, he hasn't succumbed to the rampant "Dark Knight" mania, more so, the now-classic line is Moore's mantra for his upcoming film, "Virulents" -- a horror story published by Virgin Comics about a platoon of U.S. Marines stationed in Afghanistan who come across a group of flesh-eating vampire zombies.

"The world’s pretty serious right now, and there’s an ironic lightness in 'Virulents,'" Moore explained. "There’s a touch of macabre ridiculousness to it. I think we’ve seen a lot of attempts to make serious movies about serious things, and it strikes me that we might be a little more artful about how we make a point [these days]." Read More...

'30 Days of Night'The thing about vampires, they never really die. Neither do vampire stories. So it’s no surprise that there’s already talk of a sequel to “30 Days of Night,” especially given the comic and prose books Steve Niles has ready and waiting to be adapted. So what would a “30 Days” sequel look like?

“It wouldn’t take place in Alaska,” Niles said. “It would have to be Los Angeles.” (Unlike say, New Orleans, where the FEARnet prequel and sequel “Blood Trails” and “Dust to Dust” take place.)

That’s because after we last see Stella (who was played in the film by Melissa George) holding her husband (played by Josh Hartnett), and he turns to ash, in the next book in the series -- “Dark Days” -- she decides to write a book about surviving the attack, also called “30 Days of Night.” Read More...

Black CanaryJustin Marks’ script for “Super Max” includes cameos for the Riddler, Lex Luther, and the Joker. Heck, as he admitted in our extensive chat about the film, even the prison itself is something of a major character. Everybody’s getting love in the first big-screen incarnation of the Green Arrow. Well, everybody but his wife...

As yet, there are no plans for the Black Canary -- Oliver Queen’s super-heroine wife -- to make an appearance in the film, Marks said, although he remains hopeful that she will eventually be written in.

“I mean, right now he's in prison. It's the kind of thing where I know there's talk of working with her, and she's obviously a huge part of Ollie's life and now that they're married especially,” Marks said. “[But] I don’t know. I don’t know how they’re kind of planning on doing it.” Read More...

BatmanNever let it be said that superstar writer/director/rabid fanboy Joss Whedon was the type to rest on his laurels. Clearly not content with his work on such fan-favorite franchises like "Buffy," "Serenity" and the upcoming "Dollhouse," Whedon regaled MTV News with the details of his proposed plan to reboot the "Batman" film franchise before Director Christopher Nolan got the gig.

"Well, I actually did pitch a 'Batman' film when [Warner Bros. began developing "Batman Begins"], and it wasn’t what they did but the vibe was very similar," said Whedon. "Mine was a bit less epic. It was more about the progression of him and it was more in Gotham City. He didn’t go to Tibet and meet cool people, but it was very similar in vibe [to Nolan's "Batman Begins"]."

After a little prodding, Whedon opened up a bit about his "Batman" idea, even going into detail about what villain he planned on using...or not using. Read More...

'We3'A dog, a cat, and a rabbit need a home -- that’s not just a way-oversimplified description of the plot of “We3,” but also the status of the film version of Grant Morrison’s mini-series about animal soldiers.

Since “We3” was originally optioned to New Line -- and since New Line has since imploded/been absorbed into Warner Bros. -- Morrison said the producers behind the project got the option back and have made quick progress with it. While at New Line, “We3” was considered by over a dozen directors but no one signed on. Now, Morrison said, “we have a director attached,” and while he wouldn’t reveal who that was, he said it was a “big, hot director” as well as a “real cool guy.” Guess that narrows the field. Heath Ledger in 'The Dark Knight'Heath Ledger’s Joker -- no question it was an amazing performance. And if he were still with us, we could ask him about his various inspirations: what did he watch, what did he read, what did he observe, how did he inhabit his character? Well, one of the clues he left us was his Joker diary, which he kept four months before shooting.

In it, there’s a list of what would make the Joker laugh – including AIDS, landmines, geniuses suffering irreversible brain damage, brunch, and sombreros. “It gave me this chill,” Grant Morrison said, because it was word-for-word what Morrison had written in one of his Batman stories.

“There’s a Batman [Batman #663, “The Clown at Midnight”] that I did last year that hardly anyone read,” Morrison said. Read More...

Can Stan Lee do for Paris Hilton what he did for Pamela "Stripperella" Anderson? Word leaked out last year that the dynamic duo were working with MTV on a mutant-geared animated series for the heiress, so what's the latest?

"We're developing that right now and just going over scripts and drawing my character," Hilton told us. "I fight crime."

The infamous party girl will soon be seen in the upcoming twisted musical "Repo! The Genetic Opera" where she lampoons beauty-obsessed celebritities as a plastic surgery-addicted brat, and Hilton proclaimed her next target will be the capes-and-cowls crowd. Read More...

VenomIs Sony betting on black in a bid to jump-start its aging "Spider-Man" franchise? That's the news coming out of Hollywood as the studio reportedly develops a spin-off around Venom, the menacing alien symbiote featured in "Spider-Man 3” that bonded with both Peter Parker and disgraced reporter Eddie Brock.

Introduced to the Marvel Universe more than twenty years ago, Venom has provided a variety of hosts with enhanced powers, always with devastating effects as it perpetrates a reign of terror. As one of the most villainous characters in the Marvel arsenal, could this pile of extraterrestrial goo really transition to leading man?

"I think Venom could headline a good movie on his own, but it would be tricky and would depend in large part on the script," Venom's creator David Michelinie told MTV News. As the "Amazing Spider-Man" writer behind the origin story depicted in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3," Michelinie argues the film's success would depend most on who's inhabiting the suit. Read More...
