Comic Book Movies 2013

In 2012, "The Avengers" finally assembled. "The Dark Knight" closed down shop, and "Spider-Man" started anew. But that's all behind us now — it's time to start looking forward.

Make no mistake about it: 2013 is going to be a huge year for comic book movies. Superman takes flight again, two of the Avengers get back in the solo grind, Wolverine pops his claws once more, and the denizens of Sin City return at long last. And those are just the highlights.

Which 2013 release are you most excited for? Vote in our poll, and keep the conversation going in the comments section below or on Twitter!

You voted for the Best Supervillain and the Best Superhero of 2012. Now it's time to reveal the results of the Best Comic Book Movie of 2012 poll. With thousands of votes cast, here are your picks for the top five flicks of the year...

5. "The Amazing Spider-Man"
Peter Parker's return to the big screen had a lot going for it — an excellent cast led by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, most of all. With two more movies in the "Amazing" series on the way, it's an exciting new time for Spider-film fans … which isn't to say that Marc Webb's first foray into the franchise wasn't without its shortcomings.

With Loki reigning as your pick for Best Supervillain of 2012 (not to mention his status as one of our Heroes of 2012, which is, we admit, kind of awkward), the time has come to assemble a group of superheroes to take him down. With over 15,000 votes cast in our poll for the Best Superhero of 2012, the results are in for your top five heroes.

(Spoiler: most of them are very mighty!)

Dark Knight

5. Batman
Eight years of retirement couldn't stop the big bad Bat from making one hell of a comeback in "The Dark Knight Rises." Though Bruce Wayne has hung up his cape and cowl for good now, he put on one final rager of a show in "Rises," bringing all of his might to bear upon Bane and Talia al Ghul.

We asked you to vote, and vote you did! Thousands of votes were cast for the Best Supervillain of 2012 poll, and today, we present to you the results. Read on to see who you voted as the Top Five Supervillains of the year.

5. Talia Al Ghul
The secret villain behind Batman's final battle clocks into our list at the number five spot. She might have had the silliest looking death of the year, but there's no doubting the damage Talia unleashed upon the people of Gotham City and the spirit of its greatest defender. Plus, Marion Cotillard is one hell of a liar, which surely earned her some points.

Daryl Dixon

With "Walking Dead" currently on hiatus, there's simply not enough weekly Daryl Dixon going on in our lives right now. So, we're going to change that — by welcoming Norman Reedus into the MTV News family this week!

The "Walking Dead" star is the special guest of honor for the After Hours segment of "The Big & Best of 2012," an eight-hour live-stream premiering Wednesday (12/12) at 12 p.m. ET to celebrate the year in music, movies and more. Reedus joins us at 2 p.m. ET to talk about "Walking Dead" and much more, and we're asking for your questions! Tweet them to @mtvnews or @mtvsplashpage using the hash-tag #AskReedus!

Dark Knight Rises

Even if "Avengers" ruled over 2012, it didn't happen without stiff competition from the Caped Crusader. The second highest-grossing film of the year and the end of an era, "The Dark Knight Rises" brought Christopher Nolan's epic Batman trilogy to its natural conclusion. It was a full circle ending, one that, in retrospect, we should have seen coming, but didn't because of that signature Nolan-wizardry he's perfected over the years.

In a year of excellent comic book movies populated by excellent superheroes, it would be foolish to dismiss 2012's excellent villains: a boy who became mad with power, an assassin with a decaying touch, a time-traveling alien, a vengeful trickster god, a science experiment gone wrong, a back-breaking terrorist and his duplicitous lady love, and the queen of a dystopian drug empire.

From Loki to Bane and beyond, here are your picks for Best Supervillain of 2012. Vote for your champion in the poll below, and tune in later this month for the results.

Dane DeHaan is Harry Osborn. But who should play his dad? Between a reference to the ailing Oscorp figurehead in the first "Amazing Spider-Man" to DeHaan's casting, it's only a matter of time before we find out who is playing Norman Osborn — the man who ultimately becomes Spidey's arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin.

Norman Osborn

Before Sony and Marc Webb have a chance to announce their choice (assuming Norman's in the movie at all), we wanted to get a jump-start with our own list of actors perfect for Osborn. Click on for our Norman Osborn casting call!
