'Barack the Barbarian'The love affair between U.S. President Barack Obama and the comic book is still going strong, and it looks like we'll see the comics-friendly Commander-in-Chief making a cameo on a few more covers in the coming months. Chicago-based comics publisher Devil's Due announced a pair of projects today that will involve Obama-related storylines, and released promotional images for the comics featuring the US President and a very, well... unique take on former Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Like the massively popular issue of "Amazing Spider-Man" #583 that hit its fifth printing last month, the comics feature Obama prominently on the cover -- but Devil's Due president Josh Blaylock said they'd offer a very unexpected take on the fist-bumping president. After the jump, check out all three images released for the new Obama comics, as well as details about the projects. Read More...

'Scott Pilgrim'Last week, we heard a bit more news about the much-discussed action scenes in "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," Edgar Wright's live-action adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's series, and this week we get our first peek at a few more cast members on the set of the film. Unlike previous weeks, however, the new photos of Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells) and Chris Evans (Lucas Lee) don't come from Wright's daily photo blog, but were found on a Canadian celebrity news site.

The four photos were posted on Canadian Tabloid, and offer the first in-character look at Culkin and Pill. You can check out both of those photos after the jump, but the set would seem to confirm a recent announcement by O'Malley (via Twitter) that principal photography for "Scott Pilgrim" would begin this week. [UPDATE: The photos have been removed from this post at the request of the filmmaker.] Read More...

Last year, DC/Wildstorm Comics and Dynamite Entertainment gave us horror comic fans a little slice of heaven (or hell, depending how hardcore you are) in the form of "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash," a six-issue mini-series by writers Jeff Katz and James Kuhoric and artist Jason Craig which found the three slasher-flick titans squaring off in a terrifying-yet-hysterical showdown. The book proved to be a surprise success, and fans (including yours truly) have been waiting for the inevitable follow-up ever since.

Well, that wait is finally over, as the folks over at Slash Film have wrangled a first look at the upcoming sequel in the form of a triptych cover by Arthur Suydam ("Marvel Zombies").
