After Imagi Entertainment gave "Astro Boy" fans a brief scare a few weeks back when reports surfaced that the animation studio was facing severe financial difficulties -- leading to online speculation that their in-the-works animated adaptation may be doomed -- it looks like things are back on track. And if Imagi Entertainment U.S. President Erin Corbett's recent statement assuring fans that everything was still "go" for "Astro Boy" wasn't enough, then hopefully two all-new images from the film on AintItCoolNews will quell any lingering concerns.

'True Adolescents'When your day-to-day world is the place where comics and movies collide, your email tends to fill up with some pretty interesting stuff. Case in point: A message I received from the filmmakers behind "True Adolescents," a coming-of-age indie film about an aging Seattle rocker who gets lost in the woods during a camping trip and has to "man-up" to get himself -- and the two teenagers he took camping -- home safely. What really piqued my interest about this one, though, was the art that accompanied the message.

The poster art for "True Adolescents" was created by "Green Arrow & Black Canary" cover artist Cliff Chiang, who's also working on DC/Vertigo's "Greendale" graphic novel with Neil Young. (Chiang also provided the art for one of my favorite under-the-radar DC titles, the absolutely bizarre "Doctor 13.")

Read on for the full poster art, as well as some info about "True Adolescents." Read More...

'Watchmen'Well, it looks like our skeptical take on last week's release of the "final" poster from "Watchmen" was half-right, at least -- and in this case, we couldn't be happier about that. Warner Bros. has provided Splash Page readers with an exclusive look at the new poster for the IMAX release of "Watchmen" (also on March 6).

Dr. Manhattan disassembling a tank in IMAX? Rorschach breaking fingers on the biggest of the big screens? Count us in -- and check out a full-size version of the new "Watchmen" poster after the jump. Read More...

'Amazing Spider-Man' #583 5th PrintingLast month, Marvel Comics was practically printing money with its Barack Obama-inspired cover to "Amazing Spider-Man" #583, with copies of the issue flying off shelves as fast as fans of the new fanboy-friendly US President could snatch 'em up. Well, the issue is still a big hit with the "collectors item" masses, as Marvel announced today that the ever-lovin' ASM #583 is headed to a fifth printing with yet another variation of the Obama/Spidey cover.

We've posted the full cover image for the upcoming printing after the jump, but you can pick it up for yourself on February 18. Politics and comic books have never been friendlier, it seems. Read More...

'The Warriors'Earlier this week, I posted an exclusive, 10-page preview of "The Warriors" comic book adaptation published by Dabel Brothers that will debut at next weekend's New York Comic Con. As one might expect while chatting up "Warriors" writer David Atchison (who's tasked with adapting the cult classic film to the comic book medium), the conversation eventually touched on the colorful gangs of Walter Hill's 1979 film -- specifically, the bat-wielding Baseball Furies.

With this week's debut of a new "Warriors" poster featuring the Furies and created by popular comic book writer/artist Eric Powell ("The Goon"), I decided to pick Atchison's brain about the the gang that arguably evolved into the film's most memorable export. (You can check out a full version of the new "Warriors" poster at the end of this post.)

"The Baseball Furies are still creepy looking," said Atchison, but the writer confessed that even he's surprised that the threat posed by the baseball-themed gang has stood the test of time. Read More...

If we've learned anything from the marketing campaign behind "The Spirit," it's that we should be a bit skeptical when it comes to a "final" theatrical poster. However, after seeing the latest -- and supposedly "final" -- poster for "Watchmen," we can only assume that the folks at Warner Bros. have saved the best for last.

While some of you may have already seen this image (it being the cover to the upcoming "Watchmen" soundtrack), we can't help but think how cool this would look hanging from the wall here at Splash Page HQ. But don't just take our word for it, see it for yourself below:

Over the last month or so, we’ve heard from various members of the cast and crew for DC's "Wonder Woman" animated film, including Vicki Lewis (who will voice Persephone), producer Bruce Timm and "Wonder Woman" screenwriter Michael Jelenic.

Now, fan-favorite "Firefly" actor Nathan Fillion has spoken up about his role as Steve Trevor in the direct-to-dvd film, pairing him up once again with his “Waitress” co-star Keri Russell.

'Wonder Woman'

“Playing second fiddle to Keri, that's a wonderful fiddle to play. I've done it before, I'll do it again,” said Fillion. "As for her strengths as Wonder Woman, well, first of all, she has a jet. It’s not invisible, but it’s close. And she does wear a tiara. Not all the time--you’re not going to see her walking down the street in it. But she’s got it. And it looks good. She wears it well.” Read More...

When it comes to the halls of academia, comic books have come a long way from the days when our grandparents used to do the old "hide the funnybook inside your arithmetic text book" trick. These days, there are college-level courses that study the story structures of some of comics' most acclaimed series, and, in the case of Vicki Lewis -- who provides her vocal talents to DC's direct-to-DVD animated feature "Wonder Woman" -- comics were a way of going back to school.

"I’ll be honest, I knew nothing about the mythology of any of this," said Lewis of her character, Persephone. "I got the script, and oftentimes I just kind of look at my part, but this is a fascinating story. I ended up spending half a night on Wikipedia going through the real mythology of the character. Persephone is a very fascinating character in Greek mythology and the comic books. I wasn’t a great student, so I love any opportunity at my age to learn something new. So that’s how I prepared."

After the jump, we've got more from Lewis on her role as Persephone, as well as another all-new image from the upcoming DVD, "Wonder Woman." Read More...

However, before we get into the latest round o' rumors, why not cleanse your palette with a new promo image that debuted on Ain't It Cool News over the weekend.
