Astro BoySummit Entertainment has released a pair of new images from "Astro Boy," the CGI-animated film based on the popular anime/manga character. The new images feature Astro Boy himself showing off his twin hand cannons, as well as a crowd facing off against a massive robot that -- if I'm going to venture a guess -- doesn't exactly have their best interests in mind.

"Astro Boy" stars Freddie Highmore as the voice of the title character, and he's joined by an all-star cast that includes Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Matt Lucas, and many more notables. Read More...

DESC"Bromance." Love the term or hate it, it's become a part of the nation's vernacular -- and apparently, it's become a part of the comics world, too. The follow-up to last year's "Marvel Romance" collection, this August's "Marvel Bromance" will offer up some of the greatest "bromantic" moments from the publisher's long history, featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool and other popular characters engaging in good, old-fashioned male bonding... superhero-style.

Whether it's Tony Stark and Jim Rhodes, Cable and Deadpool or Spidey and the Human Torch, guys-only adventures have yielded some funny -- and occasionally endearing -- moments in Marvel history. Given MTV's history with covering great moments in "Bromance" history, Marvel wanted to give Splash Page readers the first look at the never-before-seen Jorge Molina cover to "Marvel Bromance." Blood: The Last VampireOkay, I'll admit not knowing much about the "Blood: The Last Vampire" other than it seems to be a favorite of anime- and manga-savvy friends of mine. But after seeing how well "Death Note," one of my favorite series, was translated to the live-action medium, I'm willing to give anything a shot.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has released a big batch of images from the upcoming, live-action adaptation of "Blood:The Last Vampire," which stars Gianna Jun as Saya, a 400-year-old, half-vampire assassin on a covert mission in Vietnam-era Japan. Tasked with infiltrating a military school to discover the identity of a hidden demon, Saya has to find out which one of her classmates is the deadly creature preying on humans. Read More...

Ash Saves ObamaLate last month, I spoke to artist Todd Nauck about his work on the "Amazing Spider-Man" and "Ash Saves Obama" comic book covers featuring U.S. President Barack Obama. Today, "Ash Saves Obama" publisher Dynamite Entertainment unveiled a new cover for the first issue of the series, inspired by the iconic "HOPE" posters created by designer Shepard Fairey during the 2008 presidential campaign.

The new cover replaces the Commander-in-Chief's face with that of Bruce Campbell's deadite-blasting Ashley J. Williams, hero of the "Evil Dead" and "Army of Darkness" franchises. Along the bottom of the cover is printed "HOPE?" Read More...

GundamWhile most dread turning 30, Japan's most beloved mobile suit is standing tall... literally. Earlier this week Japan became the proud owner of the first life-size Gundam, which now towers over Tokyo Bay's Odaiba Island.

Built by Bandai in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" anime series, the iconic Gundam RX-78-2 replica stands close to 60 feet tall, making it the first ever in-scale mobile suit to accurately portray the proportions of the legendary mecha. There's a gallery of photos of the suit on a Japanese-language blog, but we've posted a pair of our favorites here. Read More...

We just received a bunch of new photos from "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" here at Splash Page HQ, and since I'm pretty sure there's no need to introduce my favorite giant robots to all of you out there, let's get straight to the images, shall we?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Yup, that's ol' Optimus Prime himself in the above image. Head over to our "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" gallery for a Devastator-sized heap of photos from the much-anticipated sequel to Michael Bay's 2007 blockbuster. Well, consider that one "Iron Man 2" mystery solved. The first official image of Mickey Rourke in costume as Whiplash has hit the 'Net.

Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in Iron Man 2

According to AdvancedIron.org, Rourke will indeed be playing an amalgam of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, melding the super-powered tendrils of the former with the Russian prison background of the latter. Earlier this week, Rourke shed the first rays of light on his role, saying that he chose to speak Russian while playing "Ivan." (This led us to find a few potential connections between his character and that of Scarlett Johansson, too.) Read More...

Angel: Only HumanJoss Whedon's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" crew sure do get around these days. Whether it's voicing "Green Lantern" heroes or "Angel" characters making cameos elsewhere around the comics world, the demons, vamps and slayers of the Whedon-verse (and the actors who played them) are in high demand.

Offering yet another way to meet that demand, IDW Publishing has announced "Angel: Only Human" -- a new, four-part story spun-off from their main "Angel" series and focusing on the troubled characters Illyria and James Gunn. Kicking off in August, the miniseries puts the pair on the road to redemption (literally), as they deal with their recent return to the mortal plane.

IDW has provided Splash Page readers with the first look at the variant cover for "Angel: Only Human" #1, featuring the art of veteran "Star Wars" artist Dave Dorman. Read More...

AbsolutionSure, we've seen comics about superheroes becoming government-sanctioned police before, and there's been no shortage of stories depicting super-powered vigilantes dishing out brutal justice -- but what about a hero who walks in both worlds?

This week, "Absolution" #0 hits shelves from Avatar Press, introducing readers to a world created by "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" writer Christos Gage in which super-powered police wield immense power, but run up against the same red tape as real-world law enforcement officers. When one hero decides he's tired of seeing the same repeat offenders, he's forced to lead a dual life while struggling with both a crisis of faith and his own sanity.

Avatar Press has provided Splash Page readers with the first look at two of the covers to issue #1 of "Absolution," featuring the art of Juan Jose Ryp and Jacen Burrows. Read More...

FROM MOVIES BLOG: If you haven't heard about director Shane Acker's "9," you should check out our exclusive clip below. The movie features some super-cool art design and gorgeous CG animation. Now we have another tasty exclusive to share with you, a pair of images revealing Elijah Wood's title character, 9. Check out the official description right here and then proceed beyond the jump for the eye candy.

Made out of burlap, with detailed copper hands and feet, 9 is the most physically refined, emotionally attuned of the 9 stitch-punk beings – the closest to perfection. His curious, proactive nature causes him to oppose 1's strategy of hiding, opting instead for action and setting the stage for conflict over leadership of the group.
