Avengers

The Avengers are assembling on the big screen in barely over a month — yes, really, that soon! But if you can't wait all the way until May 4 for Earth's mightiest superhero movie to hit theaters, you can at least pass the time with some awesome Lego action.

As you're likely aware by now, "Avengers" and Lego have teamed up for some new toy sets hitting shelves this year, turning the likes of the heroic Iron Man and the massive incredible Hulk into teensy-tiny heroes — tiny, yes, but no less awesome. Ahead of the "Avengers" Legos release, we've got an exclusive look at an "Avengers" Lego poster, featuring Earth's mightiest heroes sporting their yellow-blocky best.

The Avengers

"The Avengers" might not be set to soar into theaters until May 4, but some lucky people are going to be seeing the film almost a week ahead of time. Today it was announced that Marvel's upcoming superhero ensemble flick is going to be closing out the Tribeca Film Festival.

It might seem like a weird pairing at first glance, but the Tribeca team said that "The Avengers" helps honor the spirit of their festival. Local "everyday heroes" from police agencies, fire departments, first responders and military personnel have been invited to attend the screening and meet the cast.

"'Marvel's The Avengers' is an exciting ride that absolutely transports audiences," Jane Rosenthal, Co-Founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, said in a press release. "It is the perfect way to end our 11th Festival."

The Amazing Spider-Man

"The Amazing Spider-Man" will be swinging its way into theaters on July 3, but fans who were lucky enough to attend WonderCon in California earlier this month got a sneak peek at Sony's reboot of the "Spider-Man" franchise.

Director Marc Webb and Emma Stone sat down with Popcorn Biz at the event to discuss the many aspects of their adaptation that they deemed important.

"Well, I think there are elements of Spider-Man that are just universal. I mean, he shoots webs and he soars through the sky and he's a little guy who beats up guys that are bigger than him, or fights for the little guy," he said. "I think that's a really important thing."

But there were other more specific elements of the "Spider-Man" mythology that Webb wanted to explore in order to make his film stand on its own.

Whedon

With little more than a month to go until "The Avengers" finally hits theaters, it seems safe to say that we're about as hyped for the film as we're going to get (that is to say, we're pretty hyped). The Marvel ensemble action film is set to be one of the most star-studded superhero movies of the summer, and director Joss Whedon said in a new interview that he spent a lot of time making sure the flick didn't get too big for its own good.

"With this film it was always a question of if the audience was going to go through this, making sure the Avengers went through it as well: really testing them, not just watching them punch people for two hours," Whedon told GQ UK. "It is big because it is by necessity big - it's not spectacle for its own sake and I'm not good at that."

Marvel Music and Hollywood Records announced today that Soundgarden has reunited to record the band's first new song in fifteen years -- "Live to Rise" -- for the upcoming "Avengers" soundtrack, "Avengers Assemble." The song is also featured in the end credits of the film.

"When the opportunity arose to write an original song for 'Marvel's The Avengers' film came our way, we thought it could be a cool match," said Soundgarden. "We are excited to release our new song 'Live To Rise,' which is also the only new song in the film."

If yesterday's look at Earth's mightiest heroes brought you overwhelming joy, today brings another dose of goodness in new behind-the-scenes stills of director Joss Whedon all over the "Avengers" set. Just in time for Whedonverse favorite Nathan Fillion's birthday, too!

Since the announcement that Whedon was in fact directing "Avengers," fans have been itching to see how his direction would pan out. But fans weren't the only ones pleased by the choice of director. Whedon has a huge support system in the heroes themselves. Last summer, star Chris Evans himself told MTV News that Whedon is "unbelievable."

Avengers

When Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow were all standing in a circle during that "Avengers" Super Bowl ad, did you have to ask yourself, "How the hell did it come to this?"

It's been an incredible journey since 2008 when Samuel L. as Nick Fury decided to show up after the end credits of "Iron Man," back when this whole Avengers Initiative mess began, and now the folks over at Norton have been kind enough to put together a featurette reminding us how we got here.

The video is a fun, nostalgia-filled look back at the simpler time that was the first decade of the 21st century, when there was only one "Iron Man" movie and Edward Norton was Bruce Banner.

Scarlett

Love interest and best friend Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, Stark's personal pilot Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle and, of course, Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., are all coming back for "Iron Man 3."

That news, courtesy of Feature Film Casting, shouldn't come as much of a shock. But this one's a bit more unexpected: apparently, Scarlett Johansson will also reprise her role as Tony Stark's assistant, Natasha Romanoff, or as she's better known, the Black Widow.

Deadpool

by Ryan Rigley

It's plain to see that Deadpool, the merc with a mouth, has clawed his way back into mainstream pop culture as of late. With guest appearances on multiple platforms, ranging from video games to animated movies, Deadpool has certainly regained his status as a fan-favorite anti-hero from the late 90's.

But none of these appearances ever seem to match the Deadpool comic books that we all know and love. Most notably, his appearance in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" had fans doubled over in rage, as the character that appeared in the movie couldn't have been any further from the original.

There have been several attempts to make a "Deadpool" spinoff movie since then, spearheaded by Ryan Reynolds himself. In a recent interview with "Man of Action Studios," the creative team behind the new "Ultimate Spider-Man" cartoon, we got a chance to ask Joe Kelly, the initial "Deadpool" series writer, his opinions on the feature film that is currently stuck in the pre-production stage. "My opinion is that they should just call me up and have me write the damn thing. Cause that goes without saying."
