Quicksilver Scarlet Witch

by Brett White

Considering how secrecy pretty much goes hand in hand with Marvel movies, it's still a bit shocking how transparent Joss Whedon and Marvel are being about the expanding ensemble of "The Avengers 2." Whedon casually mentions that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are in the sequel, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige just says, "yeah, pretty much" and shrugs it off, and now Whedon's talking to IGN about their role in the film without any of the usual layers of mystery.

"You know, they had a rough beginning," says Whedon, forgetting to speak in secret code. "They're interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn't necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they're not there to make things easier. I'm not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier."

Michael B Jordan

by Brett White

"Chronicle" and "Friday Night Lights" alum Michael B. Jordan has been very vocal recently about rumors that he'll be flaming on as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) in director Josh Trank's upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot. The actor addressed the casting rumor in new interviews with both USA Today and the Huffington Post, saying that he is not officially involved yet, but he is very open to the idea.

"Nothing is real. Everyone knows we're good friends," says Jordan, mentioning his friendship with director Josh Trank. "It's something that if it happened I would be ecstatic. I'd love to be a part of it." USA Today notes that Jordan winked "off the record" while making the last statement, which basically means that he has a blue spandex suit in his closet ready to go! Man, jumping to conclusions is fun.

SHIELD

by Brett White

As if "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had any real competition for Hero of the Week. This show dominated the news this week, with trailers, teasers, photos, interviews and more taking up a healthy chunk of this blog's output as well as our hearts. Seriously, even with only 3ish minutes of footage released, people are getting very excited for this show.

And rightfully so. If Joss Whedon has proven anything, it's that he knows how to make TV shows that people fully invest in. Yeah, we're all super pumped for "S.H.I.E.L.D." right now, but just wait until it starts. This show is going to be huge and, for the first time ever, Joss might actually have a show that attracts a big audience.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

ABC premiered the trailer for "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." during the network's upfronts presentation in New York and, unsurprisingly, it looks to be one of the best new shows in the fall TV line-up. During the upfronts presentation of his show, Joss Whedon opened up about what will make a series based on S.H.I.E.L.D. work for all audiences.

"Everything has to push 'character' forward, including action. We don't want 'spectacle' characters, we want some spectacle that addresses character. We always want the two to mix," Whedon said.

James Badge Dale

When James Badge Dale finally took the role of the "muscle" in "Iron Man 3," it was a pretty big deal for the actor. He admits now that he has had plenty of opportunities to star in superhero movies, but it was only the role of Eric Savin that snagged his attention.

"I've actually passed on even auditioning for almost every superhero movie I've been sent because I didn't think I could play someone in a suit," he told Movies.com. "I don't want to be in a cape or wear a codpiece. So this was the absolute best of both worlds. I get to be in a superhero movie where my suit is actually just a regular suit."

Avengers

by Brett White

It looks like "Avengers 2" will be shooting in places other than the United Kingdom when cameras start rolling in early 2014. Comic Book Movie has heard from a few sources in South Africa who claim to have heard that the film is looking for permission to shoot in Cape Town. CBM's article states:

"Multiple listeners of South African FM radio station 5FM suggest that Earth's Mightiest Heroes could be reassembling in Cape Town, according to the Chairman of Cape Town Film Studios. During the radio session, the chairman mentioned that Marvel reps have phoned them requesting permission to shoot the next Avengers movie in South Africa's jewel city, and 2nd-most populated."

Bautista Drax

by Brett White

Going by the TwitPic below, one could assume that Dave Bautista has begun his transformation into Drax the Destroyer for Marvel's cosmic film, "Guardians of the Galaxy." The wrestler turned actor tweeted a picture of himself undergoing a makeup session for an undisclosed project. The makeup looks a lot like Drax's signature eye markings.

For all the maybe-Drax-y goodness, check out the tweet and photo below.

Jeremy Renner

by Brett White

Listen, there are times in a blogger's life when they just don't want to report on a rumor because it hurts too much. When this rumor went up yesterday on Comic Book Movie, I thought I'd just let it slide. But I've now seen this story pop up in a few more places, so no matter how dubious the unnamed source is, I feel an obligation to Splash Page to write this up. Even though it hurts.

The unnamed source states that Hawkeye is due for a major overhaul during Marvel's Phase Two, and it could lead to a diminished role for Jeremy Renner in "Avengers 2" to make room for a set of twins, the character being written out of the franchise completely, being recast for "The Avengers 2," or being recast and involved heavily in the "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." TV show. But how did these rumors even start?

Dwayne Johnson

by Ryan Rigley

It's no secret that everyone loves Dwayne Johnson. Ever since we first got a whiff of what he was cooking back in 1996, people have fallen absolutely in love with him, including Marvel Studios.

"I mean, his name has come up in the past," states Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in a recent interview with Collider. "I'm a gigantic fan of his, I think he's an unbelievable personality and an unbelievable sort of force of nature. He's awesome in 'Pain & Gain,' he was great in 'G.I. Joe,' he's really kind of an amazing human being. I would love him to be part of the Marvel universe somewhere, someday."

It seems like Marvel fans agree, judging by this fan-made Luke Cage movie poster starring Dwayne Johnson as everyone's favorite Hero for Hire. Clearly Marvel is in the cards for Dwayne Johnson. The only question that remains is who should he play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

ABC's upfront presentation has already produced news about "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," most notably that the show is going to be great. Access Hollywood and IGN caught up with actors Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Agent May) and Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Simmons), as well as producer Jeffrey Bell ("Angel"). The actors were all tight-lipped about the series, of course, but the video is still worth watching if only to see just how excited these actors are to enlist with S.H.I.E.L.D. Ming-Na's even busted out her boxing equipment!

The real juicy bit of information comes from producer Jeffrey Bell, who addressed the rumors that J. August Richards is playing either Luke Cage or Rage.

"[J. August Richards] killed it! He's so good. He's so good, because we were looking for this character M-- I almost said his name. It's not the one people are talking about..."
