Coulson variant cover

by Brett White

This November, seven of Marvel's hottest and most high-profile titles will get a little "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." makeover. Variant covers for each individual cast member as well as the entire cast will hit comic book shops, giving fans of the new series an opportunity to collect comics with the as-seen-on-TV agents on the stark covers.

Even if these are just variant covers and have no bearing on what happens within each issue, we can't help but wonder if this is just the first of many "S.H.I.E.L.D." interactions with the Marvel comics. So far only Agent Coulson has a comic book counterpart, and his five cast mates could get a similar treatment eventually.

Skye

Rising Tide may be the name of the Anonymous-esque online organization determined to out any and all instances of superhuman activity on ABC's new TV show "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," but it turns out the name hits a little too close to home for one real world volunteer group. And by "close to home" I mean right on top of it.

The real Rising Tide, a group dedicated to work on climate change issues whose membership spans four continents, isn't too keen on being associated with a fictional group on a pretty popular TV show. The group has hoped to distance itself from the Marvel Comics group by issuing a statement on its website.

"Thor: The Dark World" season 'tis upon us! The time has come for Marvel to start releasing clip after clip from this fall's Marvel movie, all in the hopes of getting us pumped up for the "Thor" sequel. Newsflash, Marvel: it's working.

This clip features a lot of bits we've previously seen in trailers, now with all the rest of the dramatic tension intact. If you've somehow forgotten just how good Tom Hiddleston is as Loki, then this minute of footage will remind you that he's an incredibly captivating actor—even when he's just listening! And I gotta mention Thor himself; it's possible that the "dark" in the film's title refers just as much to Chris Hemsworth's performance, because dude is bringing new layers of inner pain to his performance. Things are not well between these two bros.

Check out the clip below, and start counting off the days until "Thor: The Dark World's" November 8th release date.

What did you think about the first "Thor: The Dark World" clip? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter!

Terry Crews

by Brett White

Just a little over a week after preemptively taking himself out of the running for Luke Cage in a future Marvel movie, "Expendables" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Terry Crews has now preemptively put himself into the running for two other Marvel characters: Thing and Colossus. Apparently Crews is a big fan of heroes that require extensive makeup and/or CGI.

While speaking to Newsarama about his debut as the voice of Blade on tomorrow's "Ultimate Spider-Man Halloween Special," the subject of big screen superheros came up.

"One character I always thought I could play is the Thing from Fantastic Four," revealed Crews. "Another character I've always loved as a fan is Colossus. If there was a way to make that happen that worked, I would love to be Colossus."

Loki

by Alex Zalben

It's been a great week for villains. From the announcement today that DC Comics' Villains Month (where bad guys took over all of the Publisher's titles for thirty days) sold more than four million copies, to Walter White finally Breaking his final Bad, anti-heroes are the new heroes. For that reason—and way more, which we'll list below—villains who don't think they're villains are our hero of the week! Also, it just sounded nice and weird.

Read on for a rundown of all the bad guy goodness we could fit into a seven day period:

Anthony Mackie

by Brett White

With Anthony Mackie making the promotional rounds for his new film "Runner Runner," the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" crowd is getting a lot of new updates about next spring's most anticipated film (sorry, "Rio 2"!). In addition to talking to MTV News earlier this week about his audition and the decidedly non-Batman-and-Robin-ish relationship he has with Cap, Mackie talked to Rolling Stone about the upcoming film and what it was like working with one of the actors he most admires.

"Yes [I've seen footage from 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'], and it looks amazing," said Mackie. "It's so much bigger than everyone thought it would be, and we're kicking a lot of ass. It's a lot of fun to be a part of, especially with Samuel L. Jackson, who's been my mentor for so many years."

Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe's days in the "Spider-Man" universe are long behind him — but not so behind him that he isn't at least a little disturbed by the swiftness of the new "Amazing Spider-Man" series.

"I saw a trailer for the first 'Spider-Man' reboot and I thought, 'This is crazy! It's not shot for shot, but it's the same story,'" the former Norman Osborn told Total Film during a recent interview. "I thought, 'This is sort of a cynical approach to making money!'"

Criminal Coward

by Alex Zalben

Good news, "Criminal" fans! Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' first volume of the hit comic book series, "Coward," may have previously been heading slowly to movie theaters, but as of yesterday it made a big leap forward: acclaimed director Kim Jee-Woon has joined the production.

"My first reaction was shock," Brubaker told us over e-mail, "Because I love his work, and when [producers] Jamie [Patricof] and Lynette [Howell] sent me a short list of directors and I saw his name on it, I had to double-check he was really interested. Anyone who saw 'A Bittersweet Life' will know exactly why he's right for this movie."

Volstagg

by Brett White

Even with a ton of posters already revealed, "Thor: The Dark World" still has a few more up its chainmail sleeve as evidenced by today's double debut.

Two members of the Warriors Three now have character posters, leaving poor Hogun apparently bringing up the rear. The pair of posters show off Ray Stevenson's Volstagg and newcomer Zachary Levi as Fandral. The former "Chuck" leading man took over for Josh Dallas, who played Fandral in 2011's "Thor" and could not journey to "The Dark World" due to his commitments as Prince Charming on ABC's "Once Upon A Time."

You can check out both posters after the jump, as well as a new featurette focusing on "Thor: The Dark World's" Icelandic locales.

SHIELD

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." got backed up by some heavy firepower this week, when Samuel L. Jackson made his first appearance on the show as the agency's director, Nick Fury. Jackson's arrival is big news for "S.H.I.E.L.D." and Marvel fans — but for the actor himself, it's nothing new.

"I'm still playing the same guy, it's the same process," the actor nonchalantly said in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, talking about his surprise "S.H.I.E.L.D." cameo. "I just show up and they turn the cameras on and we do it."
