Simul-Cam

by Brett White

Director Bryan Singer has tweeted a picture from the set of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which is currently shooting in Canada. The set-up is, as singer says, more reminiscent of mission control than a film set thanks to the film being shot in both 3D and Simul-Cam.

Simul-Cam technology has been employed in films like "Avatar," "Real Steel" and "Jack the Giant Slayer" to effortlessly blend CGI and live action footage. You can check out the full picture and tweet below.

Iron Man 3

by Brett White

If you're going to enter contract negotiations with big ol' companies like Disney and Marvel, it would help to have about $600 million worth of worldwide box office in your corner. Thankfully for Robert Downey Jr., he has a lot more than that. And thanks to "Iron Man 3's" ridiculous $175.3 million opening weekend, he's proven that he's worth whatever amount of money he asks for to suit up again as Iron Man.

On May 6th, a select group gathered at Spago to celebrate the runaway success of "Iron Man 3"; included among them were Robert Downey Jr., his wife and producing partner Susan Downey, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black and Disney Studio head Alan Horn. The Hollywood Reporter states that the meal also kicked off the first real shaky period for Marvel Studios since its inception: re-signing its biggest star to appear in more films.

Amazing Spider-Man 2

by Brett White

Another week, another TwitPic Round Up for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"! If you aren't following director Marc Webb on Twitter yet, can you really call yourself an "Amazing Spider-Man" fan? The guy posts a new set photo for pretty much every day of the film's shoot. Sure, not all of them offer insight into the film's plot, like the time he debuted Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon, but they're almost always entertaining.

Today's batch starts off with maybe the best TwitPic yet, one that shows our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man chatting with a fan better known as the Amazing Spider-Fan.

Iron Man 3

Art of the Title has posted an interview with "Iron Man 3" Creative Director Danny Yount about the film's memorable end credits sequence, which mixes footage from all three Iron Man films together in one glorious, '70s throwback montage. The interview takes you through the end credits' entire creative process, from the more tech-driven first approach, to an animated Iron Man striptease, up through to the ultra-'70s demo that led to the final product.

"[Director] Shane [Black] is open to retro things — as evidenced in 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' — so he wanted something kind of like an old film title... like Pablo Ferro's 'Bullitt' titles," explains Yount. "And I'm a product of the '70s and '80s so I love old TV crime drama titles like 'The Dukes of Hazard' and 'Get Smart.' I'm also a huge fan of the classic comedies like 'Airplane!' and 'The Naked Gun,' which to me are all about taking a very serious subject and finding the right way to make it extremely unserious."

Storm

Director Bryan Singer has really enjoyed keeping fans in the know as "X-Men: Days of Future Past" begins filming. So far he's been tweeting pictures of the cast as they undergo various costume fittings and special effects prep, showing off Professor X, Iceman, Storm, Kitty Pryde and Wolverine. Each image has offered looks ranging from a glimpse to a full-on display of what each character will possibly be wearing in the new film, and they're all rather... odd when you look at them together.

Adam Pally

by Brett White

Pretty much every Marvel movie has brought the funny to some degree, but "Iron Man 3" puts all the others to shame. Shane Black and Drew Pearce crafted a witty script full of wit and character that packs in as many big jokes as it does plot twists. It also doesn't hurt that they have the endlessly charismatic Robert Downey Jr. in the lead and, in the case of one memorable scene, comedian Adam Pally.

If you haven't seen "Iron Man 3" yet, then consider this your spoiler warning. Maybe no big plot points will be revealed here, but some jokes might, and I consider jokes even more sacred than plot twists. Your mileage may vary.

"Happy Endings" star Adam Pally pops up as a cameraman with an unhealthy (understatement) fixation on Tony Stark during the film's Tennessee-set second act. In a recent interview with Vulture, Pally reveals how he made his way into what's already the biggest movie of the year.

"I actually got the role in a roundabout way. I got called in about three years ago to meet Robert Downey Jr. and write web series stuff for him. He's basically my idol, and he was trying to find an online presence for himself, and through that we just started working together. Eventually I got the call for Iron Man, and I read sides that had nothing to do with what I did in the movie, and I performed it once while no one was in the room — it was videotaped, and I'm sure Shane Black was watching it from his helicopter or something. And then I got a call the next day that I was going down to shoot it."

Electro

by Brett White

Ever since Batman teamed up with Robin and Batgirl to take on Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane in 1997's "Batman & Robin" (a film that still exists despite fandom's constant attempts to erase it from existence through sheer force of will), fans have equated crowded superhero sequels with bad superhero sequels. With "The Amazing Spider-Man 2's" cast ballooning to include not only Jamie Foxx as Electro, but Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, fans have gotten a bit worried about the follow-up to last summer's delightful hit, "The Amazing Spider-Man."

But fans should have no fear, because "Amazing Spider-Man 2" screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci know what they're doing. MTV News caught up with the writing team at the premiere of their latest film, "Star Trek Into Darkness."

"I think you have to go into it and say, 'is this character essential to the story or are you just throwing him in for no reason whatsoever'," said Kurtzman. This should come as a relief to fans, who saw the final installment of the original Spider-Man trilogy crowded with the likes of Sandman, Venom and the second Green Goblin.

Check out the entire interview below for a tease at who else Spider-Man may eventually thrown down against (note: it's totally a joke, a really well-timed joke).

Gwen Stacy

The latest "Amazing Spider-Man 2" set photos may not come directly from director Marc Webb (like so many have before), but they offer a deeper level of insight than any previous TwitPics. You can check out the images below, but be warned that possible spoilers lurk after the jump. Big ones. Ones that you'll wish you hadn't seen, if you're aiming to remain spoiler-free until the film opens next summer.

The Avengers

There's been a lot of focus on how long Robert Downey Jr. will stay with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the real question should be how long Kevin Feige will stick around. The Marvel Studios president is the glue that holds the MCU together, and he is responsible for building the Marvel movie franchise up to the success it is today.

Fortunately the folks over at Collider thought to ask Feige how much longer he has in his contract with Marvel. He said it was the first time he'd been asked that question, and admitted that he'll stick with the studio "certainly through Phase Two."
