Captain America

"The Avengers" is now less than a month away, and Marvel is ramping up the promotion for the movie with two new TV spots.

The first minute-long teaser gives the most honest portrayal of the film that we've seen to date. We've known for a while now that "The Avengers" is going to be told from Captain America's perspective, and this TV spot shows us how that will work on the big screen.

The new tagline, "Every team needs a captain," really underlines what the flick seems like it's going to be about. Each of the four main Avengers has now had his own movie, but in "The Avengers" there can be only one leader. And let's just say that Steve Rogers isn't called Captain America for nothing.

Jennifer Lawrence is a certified all-star now. Not only is she the leading lady in the top-grossing movie of the year, but she also has movie studios filming their upcoming blockbusters around her schedule.

At least that's the case according to The Hollywood Reporter. Their Heat Vision blog is reporting that 20th Century Fox is planning the shooting schedule for the "X-Men: First Class" sequel around Lawrence's commitment to "The Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire." Take that, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender!

God bless America! Captain America, that is. As if the new "Avengers" clip wasn't enough, Marvel has graciously gifted us with the release date for a sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger." Marvel, you are far too kind to us. Slated for a 2014 release, "Captain America 2" will take place directly after the events of the upcoming "Avengers" movie.

Which means that unlike "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Captain America 2" will be taking place in modern times. This, while eliminating a slew of potential foes from Cap's past, opens the door for some of Steve Rogers' biggest and baddest villains. Click past the jump to see the Captain America villains we think are ready for a sequel!

Alongside news that "Captain America: The First Avenger" is getting a sequel in the not-too-distant future comes this brand new photo of Cap in "The Avengers." Looking good, Steve!

Part of me is bummed that this new "Captain America" movie is going to be set in the modern era. I would love to see the story head back to World War II with Dum Dum Dugan in tow (if only to see Neal McDonough again), though I'm still not convinced that we won't have Brubaker-esque flashbacks in the mix. Still, looking upon Cap's new "Avengers" digs has me very excited to see what the super-soldier's got in store for a world filled with iPads and Lady Gaga fans. Should be a good time.

What do you think -- are you psyched for a modern "Captain America" sequel, or would you prefer another round of World War II mayhem? Sound off in the comments or on Twitter!

Fanboys, assemble! The track list for the "Avengers" score, composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri, is now available on Amazon. Although the score itself won't be available for purchase until April 20, the names of the tracks alone have got us here at MTV News speculating about what each of these songs could possibly mean for the film.

It's a pretty safe bet that "Assemble" will come into play sometime either before or after someone says "Avengers assemble," which they surely will, despite there being no confirmation of it occurring in the script yet.

Click past the jump for some more possible plot points revealed to us by the "Avengers" score!

Chronicle

Making a movie about kids with superpowers on a budget of $12 million is no easy feat, especially when you're trying to make sure your effects look convincing. But that's exactly what director Josh Trank managed to do when he put together this year's surprise hit, "Chronicle."

One of the biggest surprises in "Chronicle" was how convincing the special effects looked. A new behind-the-scenes video -- courtesy of The Daily -- shows how the special effects team managed to make the flying look so realistic with the help of the visual effects company Rhythm & Hues. Turns out that the biggest problem the team had was trying to make main characters Andrew, Matt and Steve look as realistic as possible while soaring through the air.

Steve Rogers is coming back! Yes, of course he's coming back, you say. "The Avengers" is but a month away. But now we have a second Cap appearance to look forward to, as Marvel Studios has officially announced that a sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger" is landing on April 4, 2014.

In a press release, Marvel offered up this much about the "Captain America" sequel's plot: "The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world."

Whether you're ready for it or not, a new animated take on "Woody Woodpecker" is going to soon be coming to a theater near you.

With the exception of a short-lived Saturday morning cartoon that aired on Fox in the late 1990s through early 2000s, Woody Woodpecker has been largely absent from the public eye ever since creator Walter Lantz shut down his studio in 1972. Now Universal is resurrecting the character with a very distinctive laugh, thanks to some help from Illumination Entertainment.

Deadline is reporting that John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky have been hired to pen a script for the new "Woody Woodpecker" movie. Judging by the duo's previous writing credits, we can get a sense of the type of project this will be.

This is a big year for Jeremy Renner. He came out of 2011 on a high note thanks to the great success of "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol." The two-time Oscar nominee has other big releases in 2012 as well: "The Avengers" and "The Bourne Legacy" chief among them.

In honor of his star-making year, The Hollywood Reporter ran a lengthy profile piece on Renner. Among the many topics discussed, Renner talked about his role in Marvel's ensemble superhero movie "The Avengers."

"Avengers was the first big movie I signed on to," he said. "It was something Zak Penn was the writer on; he's a friend. Then I met [Marvel Studios president and Avengers producer] Kevin Feige, and Zak was really pushing, saying 'You guys have got to hire Renner.' "

"Ben 10," arguably one of the best original superhero concepts to come out of the past decade, has been one of Cartoon Network's most popular cartoon series for quite some time now. Spawning two sequel series and multiple straight to TV movies, it's no wonder that Hollywood now has their collective eye on the sensational sci-fi property.

During a recent interview with Man of Action Studios, the creators of "Ben 10" and producers of the upcoming "Ultimate Spider-Man" cartoon, the team confirmed that there are indeed plans for a live action "Ben 10" movie. Already attached to the project is famed producer Joel Silver, who's resume includes the likes of "Die Hard," "Predator," "Lethal Weapon," "V For Vendetta," the entire "Matrix" trilogy, and many other well known, big budget movies. Clearly, "Ben 10" is in very capable hands.

When questioned about the film, Duncan Rouleau had this to say on the matter: "We’ve met with Silver a couple of times but it’s very early in the development stages to really discuss it any further than that. Other than we are also equally as excited by the prospects."
