The jury's still out on "The Amazing Spider-Man," but star Andrew Garfield is quickly becoming one of the most likable superhero movie stars with zero assistance from the movie itself. Garfield, recently nominated for a Tony award for his work in "Death of a Salesman," has already made his Spider-Man fandom well known, but it turns out that the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler isn't the only hero he's got room for in his heart.

"I saw ['The Avengers'], and I was blown away. I'm going to see it again this weekend," Garfield told Vulture about his experience with Earth's mightiest heroes. "I have no problem adding to the amount of money it's making!"

Praising what writer-director Joss Whedon was able to accomplish with "Avengers," Garfield said he was "very, very jealous" that as a Sony-owned character, his Spider-Man couldn't join the Disney/Marvel heroes.

"The Avengers" versus aliens, or Taylor Kitsch versus aliens — following the performance of "John Carter" back in March, which side would you take? Apparently the answer is decisively the former, as Earth's mightiest heroes continue their domination over the box office while new competitors like "Battleship" can do nothing but look on.

Once again, "Marvel's The Avengers" took home the first place prize at the domestic box office this weekend, taking in $55 million to bring its domestic tally to $457 million. Worldwide, it's sitting atop a gold pile worth $1.2 billion, making it the fourth highest grossing movie of all time with plenty of room to grow. Few people predict that "Avengers" will ultimately dethrone the top two record-holders "Avatar" and "Titanic," but it should be able to clear "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" for third place before all is said and done.

Stay tuned to MTV News later in the day for more box office updates.

With upfronts in full swing this past week, the latest show picked up by The CW—their DC Comics adaptation, "Arrow"—is gaining some pretty hefty buzz. The television network released another trailer showing Oliver Queen's return home after a teaser trailer introducing his serious skills. When MTV News headed to the CW Upfronts, we caught up with the Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, who told us the series is "a real superhero show" despite the fact that none of the heroes or villains have any super powers.

"It's pretty kick ass," he said. "There's a lot of action; there's a lot of fighting. It's close hand to hand combat and it's aggressive. The entire pilot just keeps ramping up the entire way. You don't get a break."

If only Rick Grimes had been given a map of the zombie apocalypse ahead of time — think about how much easier his escape from Atlanta would have been!

There's no changing the past for the "Walking Dead" hero, but if you're planning to participate in "The Walking Dead Escape" — the official name of the obstacle course planned for San Diego Comic-Con this year — then you'll be interested to know that a map of the course has been published online.

Avengers

Are you in a post-"Avengers" depression? Does the fact you have to wait a whole freaking year for "Iron Man 3" to hit theaters have you a little bummer? Well, Marvel has revealed something that might make the wait a little easier.

Like everything in the Marvel universe, the six movies the studio has released fit together to weave one big story. We just weren't entirely sure what the correct chronology was. Some diehard fans have created their own timelines that chronicle the events that occur in every movie from "Iron Man" to "The Avengers," but now Marvel has released an official "Cinematic Universe" timeline to set the record straight.

Hot off its presence at Cannes, the upcoming adaptation of "Dredd" is being featured on the cover of this week's issue of The Hollywood Reporter, and it looks like things are getting pretty heated for Karl Urban's Judge Dredd.

Urban has stepped into the distinctive helmet that Sylvester Stallone wore in 1995's "Judge Dredd." Both projects are based on the character of the same name that originally appeared in the British sci-fi anthology "2000 AD." From what we have heard, "Dredd" is going to be a lot closer in tone to the comic and will be grittier than the incarnation of the story that Stallone starred in.

A new promotional picture from the movie (which you can see above) also shows off the grittier, darker take on the "Dredd" story. Find out what people had to say about the film's debut at Cannes after the jump.

Avengers

The Na'vi of "Avatar" probably don't need to watch their tails too closely; it's not likely that "Marvel's The Avengers" will topple its record as the highest grossing movie of all time. The same can't be said for the Boy Who Lived, however, as "Avengers" is well on track to dethrone "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" for third place.

As of today, "Avengers" is the sixth biggest film of all time, surpassing the record previously held by fellow Disney picture "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," reports THR. With not quite three weeks of domestic release under its belt and another weekend victory about to hit the books — sorry, "Battleship" — the film's current $1.07 billion worldwide tally is only going to grow in the coming weeks.

As a reward for all of the "Avengers" awesomeness, check out an equally marvelous (ha!) interpretation of Earth's mightiest heroes as Pixar characters past the jump.

Bane

If there's one word to describe "Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan, it's meticulous. The man pays extremely close attention to detail. His Batman films have become known for providing explanations for each and every tool in the Caped Crusader's arsenal. This is a filmmaker who likes to understand the reality behind the fantastical, and that information usually translates to the viewer as well.

Surprising no one, Nolan's tactics have not changed one iota in his approach to "Rises," the conclusion of his epic Batman trilogy. Speaking with Rolling Stone (via Comic Book Movie), Nolan went into great detail on all of the design decisions behind Bane, the monstrous villain destined to break the Bat.

Sin City

After years of feeling hopeless, waiting with bated breath for even the slightest forward momentum on a "Sin City" sequel, we can finally start marking our calendar: the movie has a release date!

Both THR and Jeff Sneider with Variety have the news that "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" will be released on October 4, 2013 through Dimension. It's believed that both Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are returning to direct. Details are still coming, but for now, the very fact that "Sin City 2" actually has a release date is enough to make my day complete. Breathe your own sighs of relief in the comments below or on Twitter.
