Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Avengers

There are few things Marvel fans are looking forward to more than swinging with "Spider-Man" and assembling with "The Avengers" this summer. But actually swinging as Spidey, or assembling as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes? That might actually take priority!

Speaking with THR, Marvel's Vice President of Games Production TQ Jefferson gave some updates on the video game front for both of those properties, hyping up the forthcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" game from Activision and the currently available "Marvel: Avengers Alliance" playable on Facebook.

Spike Lee's remake of the Korean cult classic "Oldboy" has had a rather tumultuous development with Colin Firth turning down the role of the villain and Clive Owen recently exiting. But when 2011 breakout star Elizabeth Olsen signed on to star opposite Josh Brolin, things began to look up for the film.

MTV News' caught up with Olsen while she was promoting her new "one-take" horror film "Silent House." While she seemed excited about the upcoming project, she remained extremely tight-lipped about the details of Lee's next film.

"I don't know if I can talk much about it, expect for the fact that the Korean film is one of my favorite movies," Olsen said.

The Avengers

The MTV Movies team was a huge fan of the latest "The Avengers" trailer, and apparently we weren't alone. Disney announced that the teaser for the upcoming ensemble Marvel superhero flick has broken the record for the trailer most downloaded on iTunes in a 24-hour-period. Turns out it was downloaded 13.7 million times in the day after its release.

That means it beat out "The Dark Knight Rises," which was the previous record-holder at 12.5 million downloads. Of course, it's worth noting that "The Dark Knight Rises" had stolen that record from "The Avengers'" earlier trailer, which earned 10 million views over the course of a few days. Still, 13.7 million in 24 hours is an insane amount of buzz.

The latest "Men in Black 3" trailer has hit the web, and it shows that the new movie will have everything the previous two "Men in Black" films had and more. Fighting against crazy ridiculous aliens? Check. Random "celebrity" Men in Black appearances? Check. Witty banter between Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones or Josh Brolin, depending). Double check.

It's clear from this new trailer -- and everything else that's been released in promoting the upcoming film -- that "Men in Black 3" is going to stick to the tried-and-true formula that made the series so popular when it came out back in the '90s. So don't expect any darkness or edginess in this movie that wasn't in the first two. This time, it's all about saving the world from an invading alien force and rescuing Agent K from non-existence. Because, you know, there are some secrets that even the universe doesn't know anything about.

"Men in Black" fans, we've got two tidbits of good news for you. The quick update first: a new trailer for "Men in Black 3" is headed online Monday. Though we're not sure what the trailer will contain, there's probably some sort of clue in the second bit of news coming at you.

Yahoo! Movies has posted a new photo from the movie featuring leading men Will Smith and Josh Brolin. Hopefully that is a sign that we'll get plenty more of Agent J and the young Agent K in the upcoming trailer. The first teaser gave us a taste of that, but we're always hungry for more.

It's been a long time in the making, but it seems like a "Bloodshot" adaptation is finally coming together. There had been rumors Matthew Vaughn would be adapting the Valiant Comics series back in 2010, but nothing ever came to fruition on that. Now new reports are saying that Sony Pictures has acquired the comic with new talents attached to the script.

Deadline is reporting that Jeff Wadlow will write the script for Sony. Wadlow's most well known screenplay is for the 2007 horror film "Prey," but he is also known for directing "Never Back Down" in 2008.

"Walking Dead" fans, beware: the Governor has a name, and it's David Morrissey.

The British actor joins the cast of the AMC survival horror series' upcoming third season, putting a face to the most terrifying name that "The Walking Dead" has ever seen. Despite fan-lobbied actors John Hawkes and Tom Savini being passed over for the role, the Governor has found a home in Morrissey—and "Walking Dead" executive producer and comics creator Robert Kirkman couldn't be more excited.

"More than any other actor, David Morrissey came in and wanted to embrace everything that there is to the Governor," Kirkman told MTV News about Morrissey's casting. "He knew this is a complicated character, and he knew this was a character that people are going to hate to love."

Marc Forster is carving a very nice niche for himself as a director of all things absurd: Deadline reports that he’s slated to direct the adaptation of the graphic novel "Cowboy Ninja Viking," which has recently been acquired by Universal Pictures.

At the moment, Forster is wrapping work on "World War Z" for Paramount, the hopeful blockbuster about the zombie apocalypse and the changes it brings to humanity, but his new project is slated to start shooting later in the year. With a script from "Zombieland" writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese that was declared too edgy by Disney, it’s got an intriguing pedigree, to say the least.

"Watchmen" film veterans are starting to weigh in on the prequel series planned by DC Comics. Already, actor Matthew Goode expressed his interest in "Before Watchmen," admitting that he's curious to learn more about Ozymandias' past.

Less sure is Jeffrey Dean Morgan; the actor spoke with MTV News at the Independent Spirit Awards and confessed that without Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' direct involvement, "Before Watchmen" seems like a tricky proposition.

"I don't know how I feel about it," said Morgan. "If Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore aren't part of it, I don't know how you do that."

Deadpool

It seems as though fans have been clamoring for Ryan Reynolds to star in a Deadpool movie since his role in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was first announced. I still remember sitting in the Hall H audience at Comic-Con in 2008 when Hugh Jackman introduced the first footage for the 2009 superhero film, and hearing the crowd lose their mind when they saw Reynolds in costume for the first time.

But "Wolverine" is considered far from the best "X-Men" movie, and with "X-Men: First Class" taking the franchise in a new direction, it seems that any hope of following the franchise in that direction is lost (especially with the continued delays on James Mangold's "The Wolverine"). There has been some forward momentum on a "Deadpool" movie, though, with Tim Miller attached to direct and the flick given a tentative 2014 release date. In the end, it seems like Reynolds and the fans have been driving the interest in that project more than anyone else.

Reynolds recently sat down with IGN and talked about the current status on the project. It turns out that "Deadpool" might be closer than we once thought.
