Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

'Watchmen'It looks as though "Watchmen" has been taking a cue from "The Spirit" today in terms of hitting fans with a barrage of media in the hopes to build excitement for the upcoming release (as if us fanboys could possible be more excited about "Watchmen"). Earlier today, we got to check out an all new extended trailer for "Watchmen" from the 2008 Scream Awards, and now Warner Bros. has released an all new teaser poster for the upcoming film.

Fans who got to check out the new trailer will easily recognize the scene depicted on the poster -- that of the dramatic death of The Comedian (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan). And -- look closely -- and you'll see that "Watchmen" will be joining "Punisher: War Zone" in the "Rated R Club" -- which should be good news to those of us who have read the book and want the highly-anticipated film to maintain it's mature themes.

After the jump, check out the poster in full. Read More...

'Runaways'Marvel's award-winning series "Runaways" didn't have the most auspicious start. Canceled after 18 issues, then revived due to an outpouring of support from fans, the series was one of the most notable titles to come out Marvel's ill-fated Tsunami line, aimed at attracting manga readers to the publisher's universe. Once the series was revived, however, creators Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona found themselves with a hit on their hands. Multiple awards followed, and so did creative teams that included, among other prominent names in comics, "Strangers in Paradise" creator Terry Moore and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon.

Oh, and then there's that "Runaways" movie that's been rumored for quite a while now, too.

MTV News recently spoke with Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige about "Runaways" -- and discovered that, not only was Feige one of the project's biggest supporters, a film based on the teen superteam's adventures was high on the list of Marvel's post-"Avengers" movie plans. In fact, he expects to see a finished script by early 2009. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Speaking with MTV News last November, writer/star Seth Rogen promised he was buffing up for the role of Britt Reid in "The Green Hornet," he was looking very strongly at Stephen Chow for the role of Kato, and the movie wouldn't follow an origin story.

Well, two out of three ain't bad.

Looking more svelte and in-shape than ever, Rogen now insists that his action-hero comedy — which he likened in tone to "True Lies" — will follow a more traditional "beginnings" arc.

Despite the vociferous complaining from fans who initially objected to Rogen's command of the project, the funnyman says an origin story is necessary because, according to him, there aren't really that many fans.

To read more of Seth Rogen's thoughts on "Green Hornet," head over to MTV.com.

Terrence Howard in 'Iron Man'The startling news of Terrence Howard’s departure from “Iron Man 2,” led us to take a look over at MTV Movies at 5 recent high-profile cast departures, and how they affected on-going franchises. But what about the verdict of the day? How will Howard’s departure be judged? We broke it down Dr. Jack style to find out.

The Movie: “Iron Man 2

Who’s In / Who’s Out?: Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard as James Rhodes, the man who would become War Machine. Read More...

There's no denying that this year's Scream Awards were a big draw for comic book fans and the creators they love -- or, in some cases, the creators they love to hate. One of the biggest draws, however, was the promise of new footage from Zack Snyder's adaptation of "Watchmen," the groundbreaking graphic novel that... Well, I'm guessing that by now you know all about it.

The new footage hit the 'Net not too long after it aired, and features an extended look at several scenes we've seen before, as well as your first peek at a few new scenes that fans of the comic will certainly recognize.

The footage was introduced at the awards by Snyder and stars Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre II), Carla Gugino (Silk Spectre) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian).

My favorite scene? That shot of Rorschach arriving on the roof of the building via his grappling-hook gun. What was yours?

Mikey WayStory by James Montgomery

Hey, did you know My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way is really good friends with comic book artist Jim Lee? Well, he is. And when MTV News spoke to him yesterday -- about the 8-page Batman/Scarecrow story he contributed to DC's "Halloween '08" book (it's in stores tomorrow) -- he spoke with great reverence about the Caped Crusader, calling him "the perfect super hero … he encompasses everything I like about the genre, plus old '30s film noir."

So naturally, this drove us to ask him about his take on something that involved both Lee and Batman: "All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder," the rather divisive ongoing series featuring art by Lee and a rather sadistic take on Batman himself, courtesy of Frank Miller. Seems most fans and critics don't really like the masochistic Dark Knight Miller has conjured up this time around (the whole "I'm the Goddamn Batman" thing), though Way doesn't agree. Seems he sees the books as just another wrinkle to the Batman Mythology. Read More...

'The Incredible Hulk: The Complete TV Series'Long before CGI was the norm for live-action adaptations of comics, there was a time when the guy with the biggest muscles got the part. It was a time when legends were born and we all learned why it wasn't a good idea to make David Banner angry. (Because he'd turn into a green-skinned Lou Ferrigno and start throwing people around, that's why!)

Tomorrow sees the release of a massive, 20-disc collection of the original Hulk TV series starring Bill Bixby as Banner and Ferrigno as, of course, The Hulk. With a suggested price tag of $149.98, "The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Series" includes 6 hours of bonus features, a behind-the-scenes look at the connections between the TV series and "The Incredible Hulk" movie and episode commentaries. Heck, even the box looks pretty impressive (check it out after the jump). Read More...

Ryan GoslingNews and rumors regarding the currently-in-development movie based on "Green Lantern" have been flooding the internet over the past month, and so far, fans of DC's Emerald Interstellar Enforcer have been hearing nothing but good news about the production -- from the fanboy-friendly script to co-writer Marc Guggenheim's sources of inspiration.

However, one bit of news that has had fans scratching their collective noggins has been rumors of Ryan Gosling being considered for the potential lead role of Hal Jordan (the man who would eventually take on the mantle of Green Lantern). Splash Page looked back to an interview with Gosling from September of last year that could shed some light on his thoughts toward playing a superhero. Read More...

'Harbinger'Neil Gaiman doesn't just adapt his own work -- he's just as ready and willing to take on someone else's comic or graphic novel and adapt it for the big screen.

For the past two years, Gaiman and Roger Avary (also known as the "Beowulf" writing team ) had been working to adapt Charles Burns' acclaimed graphic novel "Black Hole" -- you know, the twelve-issue series where high school kids in the '70s get a sexually transmitted disease called "teen plague," which at first, has no known cause. Some only got a rash. Others became monsters and grew new body parts, like a tail or an extra mouth or webbing. It's like a mini-AIDS, with all the sexual-social outsider issues that entails but way more mutations.

Splat Packer Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes," "Mirrors") was originally going to direct, but then David Fincher came aboard. Good for name recognition at the box office, not always so good for the writers working under him. "Once they got David Fincher on," Gaiman said, "David explained his process consisted of having over ten drafts, done over and over, and Roger and I were sort of asked if we wanted to, if we were interested in doing that. And we definitely weren't." Read More...

Lionsgate has released an all-new featurette for this December's "The Spirit." In the hopes to further clear up the earlier confusion surrounding the film's plot and feel, the featurette (titled "The Origin of The Spirit") shines the spotlight on director Frank Miller, who explains the character as well as the original source material and creator -- comic legend Will Eisner's -- place within the history and hierarchy of American comic books.

But it ain't all just one big, four-color history lesson. There's also some great clips of The Spirit and his arch-nemesis, The Octopus (played by Samuel L. Jackson) beating the crap outta each other -- some of that "Wile E. Coyote" violence Jackson mentioned in earlier interviews. And naturally, the ladies of "The Spirit" make a few cameos as well.

Okay, enough of our jibber-jabber -- check out the clip below (via AceShowbiz.com)!

Starting to get "Spirit" fever? Or are you still an undecided viewer? Talk about it in the comments.
