Mae Whitman in 'Scott Pilgrim'"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" director Edgar Wright continues to fill his photo blog with cast and set images from the much-anticipated film. This time, we get yet another half-face peek at one of the stars of the film, Mae Whitman, who will play Roxy Richter.

A "half-ninja" artist, Richter was the roommate and one of the seven former paramours of Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) that Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must fight to win her love. (We've posted a full-size version of the photo after the jump.) Read More...

New photos popping up from the set of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” showing unidentified people in motion-capture suits have once again brought the discussion back to the subject of how much animation will be present in director Edgar Wright's adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's popular series.

'Scott Pilgrim' Mo-Cap

The new photo, posted in Wright's photo blog yesterday, depicts a pair of people clad in the mo-cap suits often used for digital animation of actors. While "Scott Pilgrim" actor Brandon Routh previously announced that the film would blend live-action with animation, O'Malley subsequently told MTV that Routh's comments were "blown out of proportion" with regard to the amount of animation in the film. Brandon Routh in 'Scott Pilgrim'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” director Edgar Wright is a photo-holic. Along with posting bunches of new images from the set of the film lately, the latest images include the very first shot of Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") as evil ex-boyfriend Todd Ingram.

Routh's character in the film, a rock star with vegan psychic powers (yes, you read that right), is the third evil ex-boyfriend that Scott Pilgrim must fight to win the heart of Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character, Ramona Flowers. Read on for a full version of Routh's photo and a roundup of the latest "Pilgrim" images. Read More...

'Scott Pilgrim'"Shaun of the Dead" director Edgar Wright grabbed a major power-up when he stepped on to direct "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." The original books were the talk of New York Comic Con this year, with the fifth "Scott Pilgrim" volume quickly entering stores and vacating shelves across the country shortly thereafter.

The big-screen adaptation's casting, which boasts Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Brandon Routh, Chris Evans, and Kieron Culkin, is stacked with names, but better yet, it has original creator Bryan Lee O'Malley's gold-coin punch of approval.

"I think the whole cast is amazing," O'Malley told MTV News. "Edgar Wright is a genius for casting. Everyone that they've got is pretty spot-on." Read More...

Chris Evans in 'Scott Pilgrim'More images from the Toronto set of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” have appeared on director Edgar Wright's photoblog and MySpace page. This time, Chris Evans (“Fantastic Four”) poses with a sketch of his character, Lucas Lee, while a mystery actor peers out from behind a curtain with a "?" sketch.

Online speculation seems to peg rumored "Scott Pilgrim" cast member Jason Schwartzman as the mystery actor, since the rest of the film's cast members -- and the characters they're playing -- have already gone public. Read on for the mystery photo and a full-size shot of Evans as Lucas Lee. Read More...

Michael Cera as 'Scott Pilgrim'Images from the set of “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” have been trickling out over the 'Net lately courtesy of director Edgar Wright and his production blog, and now we finally have the first photo of Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim (as well as Anna Kendrick as Scott's sister, Stacey Pilgrim).

In the new photos, Kendrick and Cera are holding sketches by “Scott Pilgrim” creator Bryan Lee O'Malley, which we can only assume is an effort to show how close they resemble their characters. There are more photos over at Wright's flickr photostream, including a shot of Wright's notes, as well as Satya Bhaba (who plays evil ex-boyfriend Matthew Patel) doing some prep for the big showdown with Cera's Scott Pilgrim. SchwartzmanWe've been pretty much bombarded with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" news over the past month -- between behind-the-scenes photos to cast updates to commentary straight from "Scott Pilgrim" creator, Brian Lee O'Malley. Not that this is a bad thing -- after all, to say we're impressed with both the direction and the all-star roster of Hollywood up-and-comers attached to the Oni Press adaptation would be putting it lightly.

However, if a post over at The Playlist is to be trusted, that aforementioned ridiculously-cool cast could get that much better, as they point to an article in Variety in which Jason Schwartzman was named as a castmember -- and quite possibly the seventh "evil ex" (namely Gideon Gordon Graves) which Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must defeat in order to win his heart's desire, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). 'Whiteout'Kate Beckinsale can compete with the best female action stars today, but the brunette bombshell still had something to prove to writer Greg Rucka when it came to her role in the adaptation of his celebrated graphic novel "Whiteout."

Rucka's original graphic novel, co-created with artist Steve Lieber, follows U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko, who tracks a killer into Antarctica and must solve the murder mystery before the region is plunged into darkness for six months. The film, currently slated for a September 2009 release, features Beckinsale prominently as the gritty, tough-as-nails Stetko -- a character Rucka didn't initially think she could play.

"It’s weird. A lot of people on the message boards and people emailing me were going, 'Kate Beckinsale? She’s too pretty to be Carrie,'" the writer recalled. "I got to visit the set twice ... and the first time was pretty much devoted to seeing Kate Beckinsale and going 'Wow. How do they make them that pretty?'" Read More...

Earlier this week, "Scott Pilgrim" fans were treated to their first look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, the object of the slacker hero's affections in the upcoming adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's wildly successful series. Now "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" director Edgar Wright has posted three more photos of the much-anticipated film's cast in character -- including a better look at Winstead as Ramona Flowers.

The new photos include a shot of Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, the first of Ramona's evil ex-boyfriends that Scott Pilgrim fights.

'Scott Pilgrim'Let the first looks begin at Edgar Wright’s cast for ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’! Mary Elizabeth Winstead peeked over a copy of ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ Volume 2 yesterday on the director’s MySpace blog, giving the world a taste (or at least two eyes and a hairstyle) of what she will look like as delivery girl bombshell Ramona Flowers, the love interest of Michael Cera's title character, Scott Pilgrim.

It’s a fair presumption that this shot isn’t from the film, since she is in fact holding a copy of the original book. But that is definitely the world famous CN Tower in the background, which means they are in Toronto, Scott’s home in the story. (Read on for the full image.) Read More...
