Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

We've done our part here at Splash Page covering Disney's upcoming adaptation of Top Shelf's "The Surrogates" graphic novel -- from exclusive chats with the film's producer, Elizabeth Banks (yes, that Elizabeth Banks), to interviews with one of the creators behind the comic, Rob Venditti -- so needless to say, we're pretty excited about this upcoming film which follows two FBI agents (played by Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigating a murder in a world where people own robot likenesses of themselves and live vicariously through them.

And now, Disney has finally debuted the first production still from "The Surrogates," which you can check out below!

'Terminator Salvation' Prequel ComicMust be tough, being John Connor -- what with all those Terminators always trying to kill you, your mother, your friends. But it's even tougher to be someone outside of John Connor's immediate circle come Judgment Day.

Thanks to the upcoming prequel comic to "Terminator Salvation" from IDW Publishing, we'll get a glimpse of what life is like for the rest of the world once the machines take over -- and before John Connor is the leader of the resistance -- starting with the first issue, due in January.

"One of the toughest things with stories involving time travel," said writer Dara Naraghi, "is that no matter what you do, there's always some sort of paradox."

Naraghi hopes to avoid those paradoxes when he fleshes out a different part of the post-Judgment Day world. "I get to play in my own sandbox, with a lot of new characters who won't be in the movie," Naraghi said. "There's a lot of breathing room." Read More...

'Watchmen'With Comic-Con beginning to wrap up, insiders here in San Diego are meeting up at parties and over breakfast, bestowing honors on certain film and TV titles as they look back at them. There seem to be some general consensuses on the biggest splash (“Twilight”), the biggest comeback (“Heroes”), and the film with the biggest uphill battle ahead of it (“The Spirit”). Similarly, there seems to be an undebatable winner for having unveiled the best footage: “Watchmen.”

Such names as Kevin Smith made reference in other panels that Zack Snyder’s anti-hero superhero film had already won him over with its presentation on Friday. And the geeks themselves were left drooling as they congregated around the 9000-pound Owl Ship, posed beneath an enormous “Who Watches the Watchmen?” banner in the lobby of the Convention Center, and stepped in front of each other to grab a glimpse of eye-popping Comic-Con exclusive posters. 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans' Prequel'To hear Kevin Grevioux tell it, the war between vampires and werewolves has been going on for centuries. Now if only it would continue for the next couple years, we might actually have something, namely, of course, a story about the war between the vampires and werewolves which has been going on for centuries.

Grevioux will introduce the first of those stories with his new comic “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” the cover art for which you can only see exclusively on MTV News. Its release and story coincide with the in-development “Underworld” prequel, which “is basically Lucian’s origin story, how he came to be the first Lycan leader and also what the slave system was like for the werewolves under the rule of the vampires,” Grevioux explained. “You know, ‘Spartacus’ with werewolves or ‘Gladiator’ with werewolves.” Read More...
