Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Buffy the Vampire SlayerAttention, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fans: I'm going to kick things off with a SPOILER WARNING right at the start of this interview — because we're right in the thick of the Buffy-verse right now and things are about to get very intense.

With a big reveal behind us and an even more intriguing turn of events at the end of last month's issue of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," I managed to track down writer Brad Meltzer for a brief chat about what's next for the Sunnydale slayer, what last issue's big reveal means for her, and why Buffy's upcoming showdown with the unmasked "big bad" might not be your typical boss fight.

Oh, and just in case you missed it the first time: SPOILER ALERT! Read More...

Okay, so it's not an official poster for "The Avengers," Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero team-up extravaganza, but what's a little Photoshop fun among friends?

Now that Chris Evans has been cast as Captain America, the final member of the team's core cast (or what we know of it, at least) has a face to go with the role. And while there are probably still a few more "Avengers" characters that need to be cast, we decided to try our hand at envisioning what a poster for the 2012 film might look like.

Many thanks to MTV's Andrew Ross-Rowe for the Photoshop skillz.

Iron ManMarvel Comics has revealed the latest set of variant covers for their "Iron Man By Design" project, which has a multitude of artists interpreting the character through different genres and styles.

The covers will appear on a long list of Marvel Comics issues hitting shelves in April — even those that don't feature an appearance by Tony Stark's alter ego. This time around, we get a peek at a medieval Iron Man, a steampunk Iron Man, and what looks to be a Western-themed vampire-killing Iron Man, among others.

My favorite? The creepy, stitched-up Iron Man. It's the scariest version of the character since that shot of a red-eyed Tony Stark sweating alcohol in "Demon in a Bottle." Read More...

Kristen Stewart comic bookFirst it was Lady Gaga on the cover of Bluewater Productions' new line of "Fame" biography comics, then it was "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. Now Pattinson's "Twilight" co-star, Kristen Stewart, will make her debut as a comic book cover girl — and we have your exclusive first look.

Written by Kim Sherman (who also penned the Robert Pattinson "Fame" comic) with interior art by Warren Martineck and covers by Juanmar Studios and Randy Green, "Fame: Kristen Stewart" promises to "show readers the depth residing in this young woman and the roles she’s beautifully tackled through a series of spot shots, pinups and word art." The 32-page comic hits shelves in June.

Read on for more details about the comic, as well as an exclusive preview of "Fame: Kristen Stewart," courtesy of Bluewater Productions. (Note: This is an early peek at the book, so some pages have not been colored or lettered yet.) Read More...

If that headline doesn't pique your interest, there's a good chance you're dead.

A buddy of mine sent this image my way, and I had to share it with the rest of you. The artist is Andrew Zubko, who will be working on a project called "The Inner Station" for ComicMix. They've posted a page from the series over on their site.

Joan Jett and the RunawaysKristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning are getting primed for their big-screen debut as "The Runaways" rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, but comic shops will receive their own dose of '70s rock-and-roll later this month with "Rock 'N' Roll Comics: Joan Jett and the Runaways."

Bluewater Productions' "Rock 'N' Roll Comics" series features republished material from the original magazine that launched in 1989. The comics offered unauthorized comics-style biographies of their subjects, which included Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Dylan and various other musicians and their bands.

With "Twilight" star Stewart portraying Jett in "The Runaways" movie, the upcoming comic promises to offer yet another take on the popular singer's life and career.

"Rock 'N' Roll Comics: Joan Jett and the Runaways" will hit shelves in June 2010 and is written by Spike Steffenhagen and Jay Allen Sanford, with interior art by Joe Paradise and Larry Nadolsky, and a cover by Michal Szyksznian that you can get your first look at here. Read More...

charlaine Harris - True BloodIt's a big week for "True Blood" author Charlaine Harris in the comics world, with an announcement earlier this week that her popular Harper Connelly series was receiving a comic book adaptation. Now, we bring you the exclusive news that Harris will be the next subject of Bluewater Productions' "Female Force" comic book biographies.

Hitting shelves in May, "Female Force: Charlaine Harris" promises to explore the author's career "from the publication of the lighthearted Aurora Teargarden mysteries to the phenomenon of her vampire-infused Sookie Stackhouse stories." And unlike previous "Female Force" books, Bluewater reports that Harris took an active role in the development of the comic, discussing her career with the comic's writer, Kim Sherman (who also authored the publisher's "Fame: Robert Pattinson" bio).

MTV News has an exclusive preview of the cover to "Female Force: Charlaine Harris," featuring art by Patricio Carbajal. Nathanlie Ooten will provide the interior art. Read More...

DefendorIt's not your regular superhero flick, but "Defendor" impressed more than a few people at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, and will be hitting theaters in limited release tomorrow (February 26).

Starring Woody Harrelson ("Zombieland"), Kat Dennings ("Thor"), Sandra Oh ("Sideways") and Elias Koteas ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"), the film chronicles the secret life of Arthur Poppington, who directs traffic by day and fights crime at night as Defendor — a modern-day superhero with a questionable grip on reality. The film hits DVD in April, but kicks off a limited release in theaters this Friday, February 26, at the Landmark in Los Angeles.

MTV News has your first, exclusive look at several stills from the film featuring Harrelson, Dennings and Koteas. Read More...

KotobukiyaDuring last weekend's Toy Fair, I posted an image on Twitter of Kotobukiya's amazingly detailed Red Hulk statue, and it prompted a lot of reader requests for information about the company's other superhero-inspired collectibles.

Well, I'm finally getting through the last few batches of photos from the event, and lo and behold, they feature some great images of Kotobukiya's Iron Man statues (Mark IV and Mark VI armor), as well as "Avengers" teammates Captain America and Thor, and even Dr. Doom (accurately depicted with both condescending gaze and seething hatred). There are also some pics of the concept sketches for upcoming Wolverine and Psylocke statues, as well as some shots of their Marvel Bishouju (they told me it means "sexy girl") line.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell which pictures are of that last group. Read More...
