Cowboys & AliensThe new trailer for "Cowboys & Aliens" debuted last night, and while there's not a lot of new footage to be found in it, we did get a few choice tidbits to whet our appetites for the upcoming sci-fi western mash-up.

Currently available on iTunes, the new trailer offers a bit more info on the plot of the film and Daniel Craig's character, as well as a quick tease of the aliens. There's also an interesting shot that hints at the fate of the locals once they're whipped into the air and captured by the aliens.

Oh, and there's more footage of Olivia Wilde — which is always appreciated around Splash Page HQ. Read More...

Pretty much the minute that "Cowboys & Aliens" was announced, people have been intrigued — and that was before fan-favorites Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Jon Favreau were announced as the film's stars and director.

When MTV News caught up with Favreau recently during a lengthy chat at WonderCon, we asked him if, given the film's genre-blending, he'd considered involving another icon of the Western genre: one Clint Eastwood.

"He's definitely somebody we would have been very appreciative to work with. He's iconic," Favreau said. "For this genre, Harrison felt like the right guy because he's still vital and exciting enough that he can jump on a horse, ride into battle, but he's also a different generation than Daniel." As enigmatic as the laser-packing Daniel Craig comes off in what fans have seen from Jon Favreau's upcoming "Cowboys & Aliens," the film's biggest mystery has to do with its extraterrestrials' as-yet unrevealed appearance.

MTV News caught a brief glimpse of the menace from space during the C&A panel at this past weekend's WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco and noted its at least passing resemblance to the rancor Luke faced beneath Jabba's palace in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." When presented with the good-natured comparison, Favreau agreed on a basic level, noting his team's intention to create an intimidating alien antagonist.

The Walking DeadFrom "Kick-Ass" and "Iron Man 2" to "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" and "The Walking Dead," there were a lot of great projects that hit theater and television screens in 2010. We spent the last few weeks breaking down some of the highlights (and low points) of the year in our Best Of 2010 features, but now it's time to look ahead to the year in front of us.

By any count, 2011 looks to be another big year for comic book movies and television series based on comic book properties. Not only will Marvel Studios offer up a double feature of "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" this year, but Warner Bros. will bring "Green Lantern" to the big screen and we'll get the much-anticipated second season of "The Walking Dead."

In the interest of helping you make sure your calendar is clear for this year's cornucopia of comics-friendly projects, I've put together a list of some of the big-ticket items to look out for in 2011. Read More...

These days, having the director of a film provide a commentary track on the DVD or Blu-Ray is nothing new, but what about a trailer?

Jon Favreau's "Cowboys & Aliens" trailer had the Internet buzzing last week, earning near-unanimous approval for the "Iron Man" filmmaker's adaptation of the Platinum Studios comic book. Given how well our first look at "Cowboys & Aliens" was received — and let's face it, how much we love everything with Favreau's name on it — MTV News sat down with the director in his L.A. editing studio to get a first-hand account of what went into the trailer for the 2011 film.

"This is new for me," laughed Favreau. "I'm already doing a commentary track on a movie that I'm in the middle of the director's cut." Read More...
