'Walking Dead' Season Three Begins Shooting Next Week

You'll have to wait several months before "The Walking Dead" infects your television set again, but at the very least, you can take comfort knowing the AMC survival horror series is gearing up for production very shortly.

Robert Kirkman spoke with MTV News today and confirmed that "Walking Dead" begins filming its third season next week. No, that doesn't get Rick Grimes and friends in front of your eyes any faster, but it's a start.

Kirkman also talked at length about the once and future Michonne, Danai Gurira, and what she brings to the role of the show's new sword-wielding badass.

'The Avengers' Director Joss Whedon Is Robert Downey Jr's Hero

Even if you haven't heard of Joss Whedon, you've likely heard of his work. The same man behind "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" also wrote the screenplays for "Toy Story," "Titan A.E.," "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" and "Alien: Resurrection," wrote, directed and funded "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" out of his own pocket, co-wrote the darkly hilarious movie "The Cabin in the Woods" and did a run on the comic book series "Astonishing X-Men."

Because of his previous work, Whedon was uniquely qualified to write and direct "Marvel's The Avengers." Even though Marvel really wanted him at the helm of their ambitious project, it took some convincing to get him to accept. Apparently Whedon wasn’t too impressed with the initial script that "X-Men: The Last Stand" writer, Zak Penn, showed him.

Iron Man Can Change Actors Like Bond, Says Marvel Chief Kevin Feige

Would you believe it that "The Avengers" marks Robert Downey, Jr.'s fourth movie making an appearance as Tony Stark? (That's including the "Incredible Hulk" cameo.) But with several Iron Man movies under his belt and another one on the way, and at the age of 47, it's clear that Downey can't suit up forever.

That's why Badass Digest went straight to the man who can answer the tough questions, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

Feige said that once Downey does pass off the suit to another actor, it likely won't be a reboot situation, opting instead to just keep the story moving forward, like James Bond.

No Capes Allowed: Garth Ennis' 'Crossed'

Zombies. What could possibly be scarier than a walking corpse hungry for human flesh? Well, if "The Walking Dead" has taught us anything it's that zombies aren't the only thing to worry about during a zombie apocalypse. People tend to do some crazy things when pushed into a corner. Crazy, unspeakable things that they might not normally be capable of.

Imagine, if you will, a person that is perpetually stuck in that mindset. Fully functioning human beings without any inhibitions, morals, or emotional attachments to the world around them. Now take that and amplify it tenfold. Garth Ennis, the mad genius behind "Preacher" and "The Boys," has done just that in his horrifying comic "Crossed."

'Kick-Ass 2' Filming This Summer With New Director?

"Kick-Ass 2" might be coming sooner than we expected, if Mark Millar is to be believed.

The comic book writer took to his Millarworld Productions website to offer some updates on the upcoming "Kick-Ass" sequel. According to him, the next installment of Kick-Ass' superhero saga starts shooting very soon.

"Kick-Ass 2 films this Summer. I expect there will be an announcement of some sort in the next week. Certainly before Kapow next month for sure," Millar wrote on his Millar Hour thread. "Matthew [Vaughn] is co-writing and producing, Kick-Ass being a labour of love for him. He selected the perfect director last year and we’re very, very happy. Trust him… he knows what he’s doing."

'Guardians Of The Galaxy' And Animated Marvel Movie Could Come Soon

If Kevin Feige was the reason all the standalone Marvel movies are culminating in "The Avengers" next Friday, it also seems fair to suggest that he'll be the reason we one day see a "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.

We've been hearing a lot about "Guardians" from Feige recently, and he continued the trend in an interview with /Film. While he didn't outright confirm that "Guardians of the Galaxy" would be the next new Marvel property brought to the big screen, he did say that we should be headed to space soon.

"The Cosmic Universe is a big part of [the Marvel universe] and I love space movies," he said. "I certainly like the notion of exploring some of that. That will probably not be in another 'Iron Man' movie, because it doesn’t make much sense. That will not be in another 'Captain' movie. 'Thor' does inhabit a certain part of that world and there are other characters and other properties that we’ve talked a little bit about, but have announced anything yet that will really bare fruit in that arena."

When /Film flat out asked him if that movie will be "Guardians of the Galaxy," Feige confirmed that that is the plan.

Five Reasons To See 'With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story'

At this day and age, you'd be pretty hard pressed to find someone who isn't aware of Stan Lee. After all, Marvel movies are all the rage right now. With the release of "The Avengers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" just on the horizon, and sequels to "Iron Man," "Captain America," and "Thor" in the works, it's safe to say that there is not a single person in this country that has yet to be affected by the likes of these superheroes.

Lee's place in the history of comic books and popular culture alone should be reason enough to watch "With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story," the EPIX original documentary following the life and times of Stan the man himself. However, for those a bit more skeptical about the life of Stan, we've compiled a list of reasons why we think "With Great Power" is worth a watch.

Fox Chief Talks 'X-Men' Sequel Release Date, 'Chronicle' Director On 'Fantastic Four'

An "X-Men: First Class" sequel is scheduled to begin shooting next January, with director Matthew Vaughn back in place to tell the next chapter in Professor Charles Xavier and Erik "Magneto" Lensherr's lives. The original "First Class" surprised many fans with high-caliber performances from leads James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, a compelling villain played by Kevin Bacon, wonderfully imaginative uses of mutant powers and the film's 1960s setting. It's no wonder that Fox is eager to return to that well — though fans won't get to see the fruits of their labor for quite some time.

"We're going to start shooting January 2013 for [a release date of] either Christmas 2013, or Summer 2014," Fox chief Tom Rothman told MTV News at CinemaCon this week. "The script is in development now. Matt, Simon Kinberg and Jane Goldman are working on it now."

'The Wolverine' Will Shoot In Japan, Fox Chief Confirms

"The Wolverine" is headed to Japan. No, not just in terms of the story — we've long known that the second Hugh Jackman-starring solo Wolvie flick would take place in the Land of the Rising Sun — but now, at long last, we've received confirmation from Fox studio chief Tom Rothman himself that "Wolverine" will indeed shoot in Japan as well.

"We're doing stage work in Australia. Stage work is always inside a warehouse, so location doesn't really matter. But location work will be in Japan," he confirmed to MTV News during CinemaCon. "It's filmed in both places, set in Japan, with great numbers of Japanese actors in it."
