Tune in to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

The rating for "The Dark Knight Rises" has been released, which means director Christopher Nolan is likely in the final stretch editing the film together.

The MPAA has given the third and final Nolan Batman film a PG-13 rating for "intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language," according to a screenshot of the Warner Bros exhibitor website posted by a forum member on nolanfans. As both "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" were rated PG-13, this should come as no surprise. And while this Batman flick seems to be the darkest of the trilogy, we're sort of happy Nolan didn't delve into rated R territory.

A world without Batman is nearly impossible to consider, especially considering just how much money "The Dark Knight" brought in back in 2008, and how much "Dark Knight Rises" is looking to do this coming summer. But there's one reality in which the Caped Crusader is long gone — the alternate reality on "Fringe," to be precise.

For those of you who don't watch the criminally underviewed Fox sci-fi series, there are two worlds at war with one another: our universe, and "over there," a noticeably different reality where different versions of ourselves exist, albeit guided by different choices and circumstances. There have always been some fun, quirky differences between the pop cultures of these two places, and another one emerged on Friday night's most recent episode.

Avengers

The Back Issue Bin is, err, back! We'll be here every Friday running down the ten greatest bits of comic book movie and television news to hit the space over the past week.

This week was a Marvel-heavy affair, with "Avengers" and "Spider-Man" scoring the big wins. People are psyched about the announcement of a "Captain America" sequel as well, now set in the modern day. In DC Comics news, rumors abound about new "Arkham City" DLC content. And in flesh-eating territory, there's a new "Walking Dead" petition worth sinking your teeth into.

Get all that and more as we count down the top ten stories on Splash Page this week.

Don Draper would probably do quite well in a zombie apocalypse. Roger Sterling? Not so much. We're wondering about our favorite fictional ad executives' prospects in a world brimming with the undead thanks to an awesome "Walking Dead"-"Mad Men" mash-up that hit the web earlier this week.

Beyond the fine gentlemen of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, we're also keeping our eye on the big screen, where Marvel's planned movie marathon leading up to "Avengers" is already a proven success.

Close your week out right with a nice pair of Tights after the jump!

The made-for-TV "Powers" adaptation has been in production for quite some time, as our intermittent progress reports have indicated here and there, with an unreleased pilot all there is to show for the long development cycle.

According to Comic Book Resources, it may yet be a while longer yet: in a video interview shot at WonderCon, actor Khary Payton, who played Cutter in the pilot, indicated that FX is going back to square one.

"The higher ups want to do this so badly because they know it's going to be the coolest thing on television," he said. "But it's hard. It's a hard concept, I think, to get. And they had to step back and start over again. From what I hear, the plan is still moving forward."

Earlier this week, we got our first official clip from the highly anticipated "Avengers" movie, featuring Natasha Romanoff herself. Black Widow, along with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and the Hulk, will be facing off against Loki, the god of mischief, and an army of as-of-yet unknown alien beings in a little less than a month. Which has fanboys all across the country drooling with excitement.

Although Black Widow may not be the hero that most people are looking forward to seeing up on the big screen, this clip proves that in the hands of Joss Whedon everyone is a wise-cracking, three-dimensional, and awesome action star. Running a little over 40 seconds and cutting off just as it's getting to the good part, the "Avengers" clip of Black Widow has us begging for more!

Captain America

"The Avengers" is now less than a month away, and Marvel is ramping up the promotion for the movie with two new TV spots.

The first minute-long teaser gives the most honest portrayal of the film that we've seen to date. We've known for a while now that "The Avengers" is going to be told from Captain America's perspective, and this TV spot shows us how that will work on the big screen.

The new tagline, "Every team needs a captain," really underlines what the flick seems like it's going to be about. Each of the four main Avengers has now had his own movie, but in "The Avengers" there can be only one leader. And let's just say that Steve Rogers isn't called Captain America for nothing.

Saga

These days, when a film or television series creates a world, people to populate it and a resulting mythology, it's often dismissed as derivative or old. "I've seen that before." "That looks just like 'Avatar.'" "EVERYTHING RIPPED OFF 'JOHN CARTER'! WHY WON'T ANYONE SEE 'JOHN CARTER'?"

For genres that worship the creations of visionaries like J.R.R. Tolkien and (shudder) George Lucas, modern fantasy and sci-fi films have seemed content with simply riffing on whatever's come before them, without the risk of failure that comes with progress. Few seem willing to put something out there that doesn't at the very least resemble something familiar or something that could be called "strange."

Brian K. Vaughan's "Saga," however, is strange. It's very strange.

Oh man. I don't think my Hulk man-crush is going away any time soon. Every single shot I see of Mark Ruffalo's Jade Giant gets me more and more pumped for "The Avengers," and today's latest look is no exception, gray hair and all.

In fact, I think it's the gray hair that's part of the charm for me. Ruffalo and director Joss Whedon have both talked about a sense of world-weariness to their take on Bruce Banner, and that weathered look is reflected in the Hulk's appearance as well. I can believe that this big green monster has been to hell and back, that this titan has been in the game for more than a few years. I'm into it.

Hey, May 4, hurry up and get here already, will ya?

X-Men

Jennifer Lawrence is a certified all-star now. Not only is she the leading lady in the top-grossing movie of the year, but she also has movie studios filming their upcoming blockbusters around her schedule.

At least that's the case according to The Hollywood Reporter. Their Heat Vision blog is reporting that 20th Century Fox is planning the shooting schedule for the "X-Men: First Class" sequel around Lawrence's commitment to "The Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire." Take that, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender!
