The Crow

by Brett White

Everyone hoping to see Tom Hiddleston add another comic book universe to his resume just had their hopes dashed. It turns out that the rumblings about Hiddleston, known for portraying Loki in "Thor" and "Marvel's the Avengers," taking on the title role in Relativity Media's long-gestating reboot of "The Crow" were exaggerated.

Deadline reports that the initial conversation was "overhyped" before then turning the hype on Alexander Skarsgard, the latest in a long line of leading men rumored for the role.

The Secret Service

With "Kick-Ass 2" aiming for a August 16 release date, yet another Mark Millar property is headed to the big screen. "The Secret Service" is in the works with a script written by Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman, and the film has reportedly already found its leading man.

According to Latino Review, Colin Firth is in talks for the lead role of Uncle Jack in the new movie. Keep in mind that this news isn't officially confirmed, but it seems pretty likely that it will pan out. The Hollywood Reporter is also backing up the report.

Mandarin

by Ryan Rigley

Sure, Robert Downey Jr. makes for a fantastic Tony Stark. But he's not the only reason we're excited for "Iron Man 3." Since the original "Iron Man" movie was released back in 2008, comic book fans have been clamoring for Stark's arch nemesis, the Mandarin, to make an appearance on the big screen.

Brought to life by the magnificent Sir Ben Kingsley, the Mandarin is without a doubt the deadliest threat that Iron Man has yet to come across. With more fire power than Obadiah Stane and Whiplash combined, Tony Stark is in for a rude awakening once the Mandarin plays his hand. That said, we here at MTV Splash Page thought it best to take a look back on all of the awful things that the Mandarin has done (or tried to do) to our world throughout the years.

Thanos

By Eddie Wright

In the April 23rd issue of GQ Robert Down Jr. expressed some doubt about his continuing on as Iron Man following "Iron Man 3" and the sequel to "Marvel's The Avengers" (and like 500 more cameos). He said, "How many genre movies can I do? How many follow-ups to a successful follow-up are actually fun?"

Gwyneth Paltrow then claimed that she doesn't think there will be an "Iron Man 4" at all, saying "I think we’re done with Iron Man." I'm sure what she meant was there won't be an "Iron Man 4" starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, but there will certainly be an "Iron Man 4."

Iron Man 2

by Brett White

Somewhere along the way, "Iron Man 2" got a bad rap. We're venturing heavily into personal opinion territory, here, so buckle your seat belts. To me it seems like the movie has inexplicably become shorthand for garbage, and I just don't see it. Yeah, I'm the target audience for a movie like "Iron Man 2," and I was hungry for more Marvel when the film came out in 2010. But I thoroughly enjoyed it, which apparently doesn't jive with the majority of comic book movie fans out there, who seemingly forget that actual superhero film garbage exists. "Iron Man 2" is not "Batman and Robin," people. It's not "Catwoman."

As a true believer in "Iron Man 2," I've assembled a diverse group of commentators to argue the film's case. There's too much hate for this movie online, so it's time to consider showing it some love. And with "Iron Man 3" just around the corner, what better time is there than now? Read on ahead for more Sam Rockwell praise than has possibly ever been compiled in one place on the internet.

Iron Man 3

Here at MTV Splash Page, we like "Iron Man 3" a lot. Like, a lot a lot. We've been hyped for the project since long before the movie was even announced and have continued to be big supporters in the years since. With the Marvel film finally making its way to the big screen next Friday, we decided to take a look back at our coverage of the film since we first reported on it way back in 2008.

Yes, 2008, two years before the release of "Iron Man 2" in 2010. Even in the early days people were talking about the Mandarin being this movie's villain, and about how the story will act as a sequel to "The Avengers." It's interesting how many of the initial rumors and reports ended up coming true, and it might surprise you how much was known about the movie ahead of time.

Check out our timeline of coverage after the jump!

Extremis

by Brett White

"Iron Man 3" finally lands in theaters next Friday and to get everyone prepared, we've compiled a list of five Iron Man stories that fill in a little bit of the film's primary characters' backgrounds. Sure, this may seem like a hefty reading list to tackle over the next week, but it's Iron Man. Isn't it worth it? This is the film that kicks off Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! There's going to be a post-credits scene and Easter eggs galore! Most importantly, Robert Downey Jr. will be on-screen as Tony Stark again. If none of that makes you excited, then you really should crack open the collections listed below. They are 100% guaranteed to get you pumped up.

Iron Man is coming, and he craves your enthusiasm.

"Armor Wars," "Iron Man" #225-232 (1987)
While this story line isn't directly tied into "Iron Man 3," it does feature a lot of elements that we have a hunch will play a major role in the film. For one thing, it features Tony Stark and James Rhodes (played by Don Cheadle in the film) teaming up against a bunch of armored foes. Even if bad guys like the Beetle, Shockwave, the Crimson Dynamo, and Titanium Man don't show up in the film, Tony still has to fight approximately one bajillion suits of armor. This is a classic Iron Man story from classic Iron Man creators Bob Layton and David Michelinie, so you know you can't go wrong with it.

Red 2

After a week of character posters, the new trailer for "Red 2" has arrived. This new look at the upcoming movie shows the series' retired CIA agents stuck in even more extreme circumstances than they were in 2010's "Red."

This time that means they need to team up with Anthony Hopkins' character Edward Bailey, a man who has been locked in an insane asylum for 32 years. Hopkins plays the slightly unhinged man hilariously, especially when he refuses to accept how old he actually is.

Anthony Hopkins

by Brett White

These "Red 2" character posters are rolling out two-by-two; we've already shown off the Bruce Willis and John Malkovitch posters, followed by the Helen Mirren and Catherine Zeta-Jones posters. Now two more members of "Red 2's" star-studded cast get posterized: Anthony Hopkins and Byung Hun Lee.

The full posters can be seen below, and as you will obviously note, they mix the mundane with hints of each character's more... lethal activities just like the previous posters. Well, at least Anthony Hopkins' poster does. Lee's poster just screams "hitman," or at least "hitman in a hotel."

Check out both posters below.
