A sequel to “300” is ludicrous, unwarranted, impossible—and perhaps somewhat brilliant. Which is why everyone from Frank Miller to Zack Snyder toMark Canton avoid killing the proposed sequel, but nonetheless insist that if Miller can make it work, they’re in. Now, count in another co-collaborator: King Leonidas.

“I had an incredible time doing the first one, and I think that if the first one was a stand-alone, as a one-off, there’s no bad thing in that,” explained Gerard Butler when we caught up with him recently, saying he’d be willing to bring his character back to life—even if it meant re-animating arguably the most dead person in movie history (remember all those spears?). “But, you know, let’s see what it might bring forward with a second one.” Read more...

Last week's poll asked readers to vote on the comic book movie sequel they're most eager to see, and when all the votes were tallied, Hollywood heavy-hitters Spider-Man and Batman both emerged victorious with the most-wanted follow-ups to their respective films.

In the end, "Spider-Man 4" and "Batman 3" tied for the top vote-getters in the poll, each nabbing 29 percent of the total votes. However, Jon Favreau's just-wrapped "Iron Man 2" followed closely on their tails, tallying 26 percent of the votes.

Now that “300” is coming out with a super-duper, bells-and-whistles “Complete Experience” Blu-Ray disc on the 21st, it’s had me thinking about the first few times I saw the movie. Like many, I went in not knowing what to expect and came out in awe of Zack Snyder’s flick. And, like many, I’m a bit nervous about the news that Snyder, Frank Miller and their team are willing to revisit the Spartans -- but hoping I’ll once again be awestruck.

“Frank’s working on something,” revealed producer Mark Canton when I caught up with him recently, telling me that he’s onboard to return for Snyder’s “300” sequel. “That, Zack has said.” Read more...

In addition to writing a few new "Sin City" stories for "Sin City 2," Frank Miller is also hard at work on a new tale for the sequel to "300."

Director Zack Snyder teased in an April MTV interview that there was a way to continue the franchise, and Miller previously claimed that he would set his new script after "300" during the Greco-Persian Wars and featuring "some of the same characters." Now, Snyder indicates that Miller may be moving along and re-visiting Greece to do research as he completes the graphic novel that will become the "300" sequel. Read more...

Three years ago, “300” Spartans dined in hell -- and judging by the more than $200 million the film grossed domestically, a lot of fans found their meal to be quite delicious. But -- spoiler alert! -- since almost everyone died at the end, can there ever be a sequel? And if so, would director Zack Snyder be interested in getting behind the camera?

With one simple word, Snyder addressed all of the above: “Sure,” he grinned.

Zack Snyder may cringe at the idea of doing a "Watchmen" sequel, but the outspokenly pro-comics director knows exactly what it will take to snag his talents for a sequel to "300." After hinting back in October that another installment of "300" wasn't entirely inconceivable, Snyder's position on follow-ups to both films are now crystal clear.

“The way I would do it is if Frank [Miller] drew a graphic novel, it came out in the marketplace and people said, ‘That’s pretty cool,’” Snyder told the New York Times. “The studio wants it to be, sit with Frank, come up with an idea, write a screenplay, maybe he’ll do a graphic novel based on the screenplay.
