Twitter - Beatles Rock BandBrett Ratner set his Caps Lock to SHOUT yesterday and tweeted a post addressed to comic book fans everywhere. Apparently, someone accused him of being a liar at some point. I'm not sure of the exact context, but Ratner wants everyone to know that "NO ONE IS LYING."

Brian Michael Bendis and Gail Simone, meanwhile, have been discussing their fondness for "The Beatles: Rock Band." Artist Mike Norton isn't quite as psyched about the release, but he'll probably let you play bass with him.

Our extended coverage of "9" continues as Shane Acker's animated, post-apocalyptic adventure already seems to be looking at a healthy debut week in theaters. The steampunk-fueled tale premiered yesterday, September 9, and since there are now quite a few of you out there who finally had a chance to see it, we can finally bring you this particular segment of our interview with film's cast and creators.

Without giving too much away, there's a certain scene in the film that uses the song "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"—and it's one of the coolest moments in an already super-cool film. We asked Acker, "9" voice actor Elijah Wood (who plays the title character) and producer Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted") about the scene's origins. And don't worry—they kept their response spoiler-free!

"I thought it was a little dangerous. That's sacred territory," said Acker of his first reaction to Bekmambetov's suggestion of the famous "Wizard of Oz" song.

"Not for me," laughed Bekmambetov. Read more...

Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic animated adventure "9" hits theaters today (September 9), and we've been offering you a primer on all things "9" and its world of "stitchpunk" ragdolls all week. From interviews with the voice cast and exclusive footage from the film to yesterday's breakdown of the connections between comics and "9," Splash Page has been the spot to find out everything you need to know about the much-anticipated film.

Today we have another short video featuring "Lord of the Rings" and "Sin City" actor Elijah Wood, who provides the voice of the title character in the film—a ragdoll who awakens to a world ravaged by a war between humans and machines. Here, Wood describes what attracted him to writer/director Acker's animated alternate history.

"There's a mythology to it, and it's this time that is the past, but is [also] the future," said Wood. "You don't quite know when it's taking place." Read more...

9It's "9" week here on Splash Page, and while the post-apocalyptic animated adventure doesn't have too much in common with the comic book world on the surface, there are always links between the film reel and the paneled page. The Shane Acker-directed film is no exception, as several of the movie's voice actors and production crew have direct ties to comics.

Behold the following "9" actors and producers, all of whom are connected to the comic book community in some way, shape or form:

TIMUR BEKMAMBETOV: His name might be unfamiliar, but "9" producer Timur Bekmambetov's work became surprisingly popular barely a year ago. Bekmambetov is the director of "Wanted," the Angelina Jolie-starring comic book adaptation of Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' graphic novel. Read more...

Our week-long look at "9," Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic, steampunk-fueled adventure featuring an animated cast of ragdolls, continues today with yet another excerpt from our interview with one of the film's voice actors, Elijah Wood.

In the film, Wood voices the title character, a recently animated ragdoll who discovers he's not alone in the world and sets off on a quest to rescue another ragdoll from a mysterious threat. In the following video, the actor explains what attracted him to the film, which hits theaters September 9.

"The short was what did it for me ... I was so struck by the animation style. The story that Shane did it himself over four years—I was so intrigued by that, to have created something with such a unique vision." Read more...

It's "9" week here on Splash Page, and we're celebrating this week's release of Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic animated adventure (hitting theaters September 9, appropriately enough) with a host of exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage from the upcoming film.

Featuring an all-star cast of voice actors including Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly and Crispin Glover, as well as producers Tim Burton ("Batman") and Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted"), "9" is a steampunk adventure that, as Wood points out in the following video, isn't easily summed up.

"It's not an easy thing to do bullet points on, but the essence of it is this world where man has been destroyed by machines of his own making," explained Wood, "and what is left are some of these machines and relics of these machines and these mechanized ragdolls that are the only living things still around."

"You discover 9, this character, who discovers there are more like him, and that leads to a variety of questions and a journey they all take together," he added.

Keep an eye on Splash Page all week for more never-before-seen interviews and footage from "9," which hits theaters September 9!
