It was less than two weeks between Guy Ritchie being tagged to direct a "Lobo" movie last month and actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan throwing his hat into the ring as one of the hopefuls for the lead role, so it was only natural that we bring up DC's "Main Man" when we had a chance to sit down with Morgan recently.
Asked whether he'd reached out to Ritchie yet, Morgan downplayed his previous conversation about the project.
"I said that in passing," Morgan told MTV News of his prior comments regarding the "Lobo" lead. "I don't t know that I'm a big blue guy." Read more...
With Guy Ritchie announced as the director for "Lobo," it's only a matter of time before the main man himself gets cast. I've already listed some of my suggestions for who should play Lobo, but there's another actor that's vying for the role—and despite his former status as a Comedian, his designs on the last Czarnian are hardly a joke.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan of "Watchmen" and "The Losers" wants to add "Lobo" to his ever-growing list of comic book characters. The actor spoke with Superhero Hype about his desire to play the DC Comics antihero in Guy Ritchie's upcoming adaptation.
"[They're] making 'Lobo' right now," said Morgan. "That would be cool. 'Lobo' would be very cool. I don't think that I'm as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke's body on my head, that would be just great." Read more...
Yesterday, we saw some explosive footage from the set of "The Losers," director Sylvain White's live-action adaptation of Andy Diggle and Jock's action-packed series. Now we have a few more photos from the set of the film to check out, including a few new shots of stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba and Columbus Short, as well as some of the heavy-duty hardware they're bringing out for the film.
Posted over on fan site JDMorgan.info, the gallery includes a few images of the aforementioned cast members getting prepped for a scene, as well as some shots of an overturned jeep and a military helicopter taking off. Actress Zoe Saldana is conspicuously absent from the shots (from what I can tell), so could this be a scene that takes place early in the story's timeline, before her character, Aisha, connects with the left-for-dead team of operatives? We've already gotten our first glimpse of Zoe Saldana on the set of "The Losers," proving that the film is on track for its April 2010 release date. Now, a series of new photos is further cementing the progress of the Vertigo comic book adaptation.
Superhero Hype has posted several photos from the set of "The Losers," providing the first clear looks at Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Idris Elba as Clay and Roque, respectively.
The two actors are featured in a street scene beside a junked up yellow car, with Morgan's character aiming a gun at an unseen target. Additionally, Elba -- who seems suspiciously busy with his cell phone—is sporting a funky mohawk, a hairstyle that his stylish alter-ego Stringer Bell on "The Wire" would most likely disapprove of. Here we are, "Watchmen" watchers -- after months of anticipation (not to mention the threat of an indefinite delay), we're mere days away from the world premiere of Zack Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' groundbreaking graphic novel. And if you think the full-court marketing push for "Watchmen" will be letting up now that we can see March 6 on our calendars, think again, as Warner Bros. has released a plethora of TV spots and a series of all-new featurettes featuring the cast, director and co-creator.
Here's Malin Ackerman (Silk Spectre II) and Billy Crudup (Dr. Manhattan):

There are certain accessories that define superheroes -- Superman's cape or Wonder Woman's tiara, just to name a few. And in the world of "Watchmen," there is no piece of flair more ubiquitous to the story than The Comedian's smiley face pin. For those of us who have read the comic, it's right there in the first panel of page one, and from what we've seen of director Zack Snyder's adaptation so far via "Watchmen" trailers and "Watchmen" posters, it looks to play a major symbolic role in the film as well.
So, naturally, you'd assume that Jeffrey Dean Morgan -- the actor who portrays The Comedian -- got to walk away with the pin that's become the iconic image of highly-anticipated flick... but you'd be wrong. Read more...
Word broke last week that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be joining the cast of "The Losers," the Sylvain White-directed adaptation of Andy Diggle's Vertigo series. Now, MTV News has heard from another potential cast member for the film, Jeremy Renner, who revealed that the brawny "Watchmen" actor will be playing the role of Clay, the leader of the team for which the series is titled.
"I think they’re doing the casting now," Renner told MTV News when asked about the rumors connecting him to the film. "I know Jeffrey Dean Morgan got Clay, which he should be great in." Read more...
Back in November, we brought you the news that Sylvain White was bringing the DC/Vertigo series "The Losers" to the big screen. White's deal didn't cause a lot of buzz at the time, and the trades were confused as to whether it was the 1970s DC series, or the 2004 DC/Vertigo series that was being adapted. Late last year, producer Joel Silver seemed unsure as to when or if the film would really take off, noting that "The Losers" faced competition from a remake of "The Dirty Dozen."
Look for the buzz to change now, as Variety reports that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to star as the head "Loser" for Warner Bros. And the film is indeed based on the 2004 "reimagining" series by DC/Vertigo, according to the report. Read more...
When “Watchmen” adapts Alan Moore’s uniquely dark vision of the superhero genre to film this year, audiences would do well to prepare themselves to see some of the ugliest sides of human behavior that come with it. In the “Watchmen” comics, one of the heaviest flinch-inducing moments comes from a flashback scene involving the rape of Minutemen member Silk Spectre by her teammate, The Comedian. The actor portraying The Comedian, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, confirmed to MTV that director Zack Snyder did not overlook the event’s significance.
“It was a three-day process shooting that particular scene, and it was hard,” Morgan told MTV News. “It was three of the hardest days of filming I have ever had to do. It was really very violent.” Read more...
As we stand on the eve of what's sure to be an historic election here in the United States tomorrow, what better time than the present for Warner Bros. to debut the all-new, updated official "Watchmen" website?
While there's currently not too much to hype up on the super-sleek looking website (unless of course you're a big fan of The Comedian, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), there are clearly plenty of teases to get fans coming back form more each week (hence a whole lotta "Coming Soon" banners throughout). But for now, crank up the volume on the trailer (how that never gets old is beyond us), and get to downloading more Comedian goodies -- like wallpapers and buddy icons -- than you can shake a smelly cigar at! And for the uninitiated who are wondering who the heck this "Comedian" guy everyone keeps talking about is, there's also a quick bio on the character who -- SPOILER ALERT -- is a total jerkwad!
