Three new photos hit the 'Net today from "Kick-Ass," the live-action adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s edgy real-life superhero series.
The trio of photos are available on HitFix, but one of our favorites from the bunch is this shot of Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz (our first "official" look at Cage and Moretz, in fact) looking like your average father and daughter having a cup of hot chocolate together -- against a backdrop of machine guns!

After the jump, check out a close-up photo of Aaron Johnson in his Kick-Ass costume, and some thoughts about the new photos. Read more...
Last month we got our first look at the main character's do-it-yourself superhero costume in "Kick-Ass," the upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar's ultraviolent comic book series, directed by Matthew Vaughn. While most of our on-set peeks at the film have been blurry at best, Newsarama has posted a pair of photos from the set that provide a clear look at actor Aaron Johnson in the role of wannabe-superhero Dave Lizewski -- and in full "Kick-Ass" costume.
We've posted one of the photos after the jump, and from the look of things, the scene seems to be pulled from one of the early issues of the comic -- possibly when Johnson's character protects a stranger from a pack of thugs. (Johnson's pose in the photo is pretty much spot-on with the character's pose in the comics.) Read more...
There was a double shot of "Kick-Ass" popping up on the 'Webs today, with two new photos from the set appearing online and some updates posted to the online journal of Chloe Moretz, the 11-year-old actress playing the pre-teen vigilante Hit Girl.
The /film crew has two new photos from the set, which feature a good look at Aaron Johnson in costume as the title character, Kick-Ass, and our first look at Christopher Mintz-Plasse in costume as Red Mist. Previously, we'd seen the Kick-Ass costume on one of Johnson's doubles for the film, and seen numerous photos of the Red Mist's suped-up car, but nothing of Mintz-Plasse in character. We've posted one of the new photos after the jump. Read more...
The news surrounding Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass" keeps a'comin', as Access Hollywood is now reporting that Clark Duke (who can currently be seen on the ABC sitcom "Greek") has joined his fellow former "Superbad" star Chris "McLovin" Mintz-Plasse on the production.
“I’m leaving in a week or two to shoot ‘Kick-Ass,’” Clark told Access Hollywood in an exclusive interview. “I just saw Chris. It’s the first time I saw him since I closed the deal, so I’m pretty excited.”
Duke will take on the role of Marty, a nerdy friend of the story's main character, Dave Lizewski (who will be played by Aaron Johnson) -- a high school loser who attempts to take down a gang of mobsters by donning a superhero costume, only to find out the hard way that things are much different in the real world than in the four-color one.
Duke joins Nicolas Cage and a cast of young Hollywood up-and-comers on "Kick-Ass," which recently began filming in London, and is set to hit theaters sometime next year.
"Kick-Ass" continues to do just that in terms of breaking news -- with all of these announcements, are you getting excited for the film, or is 2009 all about "Watchmen" for you? Talk about it in the comments section!
Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s "Kick-Ass" is certainly living up to its namesake this week in terms of news, as The Hollywood Reporter has now announced that Nicolas Cage will be joining the cast, playing the role of a retired cop who, with the help of his daughter (played by the recently announced Chloe Moretz), sets out to take down a lethal druglord.
Adding to this news, THR also reports that the two main characters of "Kick-Ass" have also been cast. As reported yesterday, the films lead character, Dave Lizewski, will be played by Hollywood newcomer Aaron Johnson, and Lyndsy Fonseca ("Big Love") has been cast as Katie Deauxma, his love-interest.
