Wanted - Angelina Jolie"Wanted" director Timur Bekmambetov has made no secret of his desire to bring Angelina Jolie back for the sequel to last year's hit film based loosely on the comic book series by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones. However, her character's final scene in the film made such a return unlikely—if not impossible.

While Jolie previously told MTV News she didn't think her character, Fox, would be making a comeback for "Wanted 2," it's worth noting that this is still the world of comic books—and as all fans know, no character stays away very long in comics. In fact, when we spoke to Bekmambetov recently, he not only reiterated his plans to bring Jolie's character back, but he said they already have a plan for how it's going to happen.

Yesterday, “Wanted” director Timur Bekmabetov told a Russian news outlet that he planned to bring Angelina Jolie back for the upcoming sequel to last year's hit film loosely based on the Mark Millar and J.G. Jones series. While the news had everyone who's seen the film buzzing for fairly obvious reasons (given her character's final scene), there were a few other reasons we were a bit skeptical of the news around Splash Page HQ.

Take, for instance, this interview conducted with Jolie during the run-up to the "Wanted" premiere last year:

While Jolie seems to indicate in no uncertain terms that her character isn't likely to return for a sequel, there's always the chance that she was being coy and didn't want to reveal anything about the plot, right? Well, that's not all that has us scratching our heads. Read more...

Wanted 2How do you make a sequel to a movie in which almost every main character winds up dead? According to one report from a Russian news outlet, "Wanted" director Timur Bekmabetov plans to answer that very question by bringing back Angelina Jolie and possibly others in the next installment.

Bekmabetov told RIA Novosti, a Russian news site, that he's already begun preparations for "Wanted 2," a sequel to the 2008 actioneer based on Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' comic book. According to the site, the director promised the return of Jolie, despite her character's send-off in the first movie. Read more...

MythBustersAs much as Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and their "Build Team" of Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara seem to appreciate superheroes, toppling fans' suspended disbelief doesn't seem to bother them one bit. Following their foray into super-powered phenomena, such as Spider-Man's arachnid origins, the Hulk's gamma-powered transformations and Namor's undersea breathing capacity, the "MythBusters" team continues to tackle the paneled powers of comic book characters this week on Discovery Channel.

Tonight's episode, "Curving Bullets," looks at the physics behind 2008's "Wanted," which may or may not debunk the powers of weavers. Read more...

FROM MTV MOVIES: Once again, the MTV Movie Awards will be honoring Hollywood's most pursued puckerers with the Best Kiss trophy on Sunday. And when you realize that half of these folks not only got to kiss Angelina Jolie, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and others but now they get an award for it, well, sometimes life just isn't fair.

From forbidden romances with vampires and slumdogs, to man-on-man displays of affection, to a "Wanted" woman and one last twirl on the dance floor from Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, this year had many memorable smooches. Now, it's time to handicap the winner and tell the rest to kiss off.

Check out our full breakdown of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards "Best Kiss" nominees over at Movies.MTV.com.

FROM MTV MOVIES: What happens when you take five women who gave five very different performances in five very different movies? Well, you get the five ladies nominated for Best Female Performance at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

Angelina Jolie brought the action with her role in "Wanted," Anne Hathaway used her comedy chops to get nominated in "Bride Wars," and the drama queens — Kristin Stewart in "Twilight," Kate Winslet in "The Reader" and Taraji P. Henson in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" — are all going head to head to try and secure themselves a trophy.

With an overwhelmingly strong Twilighter fanbase, it seems likely that Stewart will take home the prize come Sunday. But don't count out the fanboys who thought Jolie was the hottest femme fatale to grace the big screen since Uma Thurman in "Pulp Fiction."

Angelina JolieJust when you thought it was dead -- or at least a long ways away -- the long-awaited "Sin City 2” has reared its ugly head. But if you believe this latest rumor, the rough-and-gruff tough-guy ensemble is about to get a whole lot prettier.

Clint Morris at Moviehole reports that "Wanted" star Angelina Jolie is in "serious talks" to star in "Sin City 2." Morris says, according to a "high-profile producer friend," that the filmmakers are actively trying to get the actress to commit to the "Sin City" sequel. Read more...

WantedUniversal Pictures and The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) are butting heads over Angelina Jolie's gunplay in an advertisement for the big-screen adaptation of "Wanted" that was recently launched in the UK. The film, based on the Top Cow comic by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, doused itself in bullets and over-the-top violence when it hit theaters in 2008, but the regulation agency now says Jolie makes guns look way too attractive for television.

"We concluded the ad could be seen to condone violence by glorifying or glamorising the use of guns," stated the ASA in a comment to Telegraph.co.uk. (You can check out the offending advertisement and more on the legal scuffle surrounding it after the jump.) Read more...

Rosario DawsonNot even a month after “Sin City” star Michael Clarke Duncan told us he hadn’t heard a peep about "Sin City 2", the plot thickens. Now, Rosario Dawson, the straight-talking star who once strapped herself into black leather to play the role of gang gal Gail says that she’s leaving room open on her 2009 calendar for the long-awaited sequel.

“Yeah, I talked to Robert [Rodriguez] and Frank [Miller],” she said of a recent conversation with the director and writer who joined forces with Quentin Tarantino for the hit 2005 film. “They actually just finished the script for ‘Sin City 2’ a few months ago.” Read more...
