David Goyer, one of the masterminds behind the live-action "Batman" revival, is no longer acting as the showrunner on "FlashForward," ABC's latest science fiction television series.
"As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions," Goyer said in a statement. "I'm proud of the show and excited about the relaunch. It's in great hands."
Goyer's feature film work has deep ties to the comic book world, so it's hard to determine exactly which project is getting the majority of his attention. According to a quick note on Deadline Hollywood, however, he might have his sights set on the third "Batman" movie.

From comedian Dane Cook to the fans themselves, it seems that everybody is crossing their fingers that The Riddler will show up in the eventual sequel to "The Dark Knight."
While the villain's involvement in a third "Batman" film is far from confirmed — heck, the actual existence of "Batman 3" is speculative at this point — it's worth wondering who could play Edward Nigma should he wind up in Christopher Nolan's return to Gotham City.
Given Nolan's proclivity towards a darker, more realistic tone than his live-action "Batman" predecessors, it's important to steer clear of actors that would take a hammy, parody-riddled approach to The Riddler. This is a character that should have wit and humor, sure, but also pose a threat. With those qualities in mind, I think that these five actors would do an excellent job at confounding the citizens of Gotham in an eventual "Batman 3."

Aside from the occasional rumor (Megan Fox as Catwoman?!), updates on the "Batman 3" front have been quiet as of late. That makes sense, as writer/director Christopher Nolan is still shooting his post-"Dark Knight" thriller "Inception," which isn't due in theaters until summer 2010.
Yet, as Nolan keeps himself more than a bit busy on that mammoth production, one of his "Dark Knight" stars is certain the "Batman" series is not far from his creative thoughts.
"I know—I just know—that Chris is working on number three," Morgan Freeman told MTV News. "He couldn't possibly not be." Read more...
Mining the multitude of fan-made trailers on the 'Net occasionally yields a real gem (for example: "Thundercats: The Movie"), and that's definitely the case for this "Batman 3" mash-up trailer that offers up a hypothetical brawl between Christian Bale as Batman, Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.
Created by YouTube user HawkeyeProtagonist, "Batman: Caped Crusader Teaser 1 (Penguin & Riddler)" splices clips from Christopher Nolan's previous Batman movies, as well as clips from Depp's "Secret Window" and Hoffman's villainous turn in "Mission: Impossible III" (among other films I could be missing). The final product is a compelling argument for both actors and their respective villains to make a bow in the next Batman movie.
Heck, with that monologue, Hoffman might even be able to strike terror into the Dark Knight's heart. Read more...
Okay, so after posting the results of last week's "Batman 3" poll, it's pretty clear that Catwoman is on a lot of fans' minds when it comes to characters who could make their debut in the next installment of the blockbuster bat-franchise. As both the runner-up in the poll and the focus of our latest Secret Identity casting call, Catwoman appears to have some significant support among Batman fans.
So, now the question becomes: Who would you like to see become Batman's feline-fixated nemesis (and potential lover?) in the next film?
I've compiled many of the names that popped up in Catwoman discussion over the last year or so, and the rest is up to you. Is there a certain someone who'd be the purrrfect choice? Let us know by casting your vote! Read more...
Just yesterday we revealed the results of last week's "Batman 3" poll, in which readers named The Riddler the villain they'd most like to see in the next installment of the Batman movie franchise. Now comes word from actor/comedian Dane Cook that Batman's question-marked nemesis is exactly the comic book character he'd like to play, given the chance.
"I love the new Dark Knight series and 'Batman Begins,'" Cook told MTV News when asked if there were any comic book movie characters he has his eye on. "If they brought back The Riddler—a new Riddler the way they did with The Joker—that would be bad-ass. I would do that." Read more...
In last week's poll, we asked you which Batman villain you want to see in the next installment of Warner Brothers' record-breaking movie franchise.
We already know which "Batman 3" rumors you wish were true, and we've outlined our casting choices for a new Catwoman, but what about the foe (or foes) The Dark Knight will tangle with in the next film? According to readers, the question is the answer—and The Riddler is the villain everyone wants to see in the third "Batman" movie.
With 37 percent of the total votes, Edward Nigma ran away with the poll—and was followed far, far behind by Catwoman and skull-faced, modern-era villain Black Mask. Read more...
In all likelihood, we're still quite a ways off from any real news regarding a third "Batman" movie from director Christopher Nolan—if he's even returning to the franchise, that is—but that's not stopping us from wondering which Dark Knight villain we should see in the inevitable sequel.
There's no shortage of rogues to choose from, but the one I think is an absolute necessity is Catwoman. Given the state of Bruce Wayne's life after the events of "The Dark Knight," this feels like the perfect time to introduce Selina Kyle—the woman who could either help mend Bruce's fences, or bring all of the walls tumbling down.
If Nolan, David Goyer and the other folks at DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. decide to go the Catwoman route, I think that these five actresses would be great for the role. Read more...
Okay, so we haven't even received official word that there will be a third movie in Christopher Nolan's "Batman" franchise, but that doesn't mean we can't speculate about the characters we'd like to see in the film if it ever gets made.
When it comes to the Batman movies, there's a long—and some might say sordid—history of jam-packing greater numbers of villains into each installment. However, with the passing of Heath Ledger last year, the most prominent prospect for the next installment's villain suddenly (and tragically) became an impossibility. The question now becomes: will Nolan go for a returning character or someone entirely new if/when he tackles the Dark Knight next? Read more...
Cillian Murphy returned for "The Dark Knight" after helping relaunch the Batman movie franchise as The Scarecrow in "Batman Begins." Murphy re-teams with director Christopher Nolan for his new film "Inception," so there is little doubt that Nolan would want him back if there's a Jonathan Crane role to be filled in "Batman 3"—and Murphy remains hopeful that a third installment is in the works.
"I hope they make a third one," he told MTV News. "I think 'The Dark Knight' was one of the greatest films."
Just because he's hopeful, however, doesn't mean that Nolan has shared his intentions on the "Inception" set. Read more...
