Powers

If production on Marvel's "Powers" has seemed to slowed down in the last few years, it's because creator Brian Michael Bendis has been working on bringing the show to life. In 2011, FX officially optioned a pilot starring Lucy Punch as Deena Pilgrim, with Jason Patric as Christian Walker. It's been a slow process, but according to Bendis, it's all beginning to come together.

"The good news was that the pilot was put together. I've seen it and it's not embarrassing on any level," Bendis told Comic Book Resources. "It's very interesting, dense, and complicated like every FX show is. We were tested and the things that you need to continue forward we tested very well with. People liked our lead Jason Patric and the idea of the show. They said they would watch the show. So all of these things did very well."

Powers

"Powers," the superhero crime noir comic book series created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, has long been developing for television over at FX. After casting Jason Patric as Christian Walker and Lucy Punch as his partner Deena Pilgrim, things were looking up for the "Powers" series… but fans are going to have to wait a little big longer for good news.

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association this past weekend, FX Networks President and General Manager John Landgraf revealed that the network has passed on the current version of the "Powers" pilot.

Powers

FX and AMC networks are slugging it out for supremacy in the hip, new drama department. While AMC landed the increasingly popular "Walking Dead" adaptation, FX has set its sights on Brian Michael Bendis' "Powers," hoping the show might make a nice addition to popular programming like "Sons of Anarchy." News of a pilot in production broke a few months ago, but things have fallen silent since.

Now, it seems as though FX is sending the potential show's producers back to the drawing board, ordering the pilot to undergo a re-shoot.

The AvengersLabor Day weekend has arrived, and most of the creators in our feed seem to have been ramping up their output in anticipation. Kevin Colden, meanwhile, is hoping to catch a glimpse of "The Avengers" filming in New York over the three-day holiday.

Elsewhere, Gail Simone opened up to the idea of seeing "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," and Jimmy Palmiotti offered some thoughts up for anyone going to see "Conan." All of that, along with some more George Lucas reactions and Rick Remender's brilliant response to his haters made our favorite tweets list of the morning.

DC RelaunchThe big news in comics today is the massive reboot going on over at DC. Jim Lee and Geoff Johns' "Justice League" #1 went on sale all over the country to kick it off, and the two of them have been touring New York City on the signing circuit to promote it. Lee even tweeted some photographic evidence.

Opinions on what DC's relaunched titles will accomplish varied. A couple of takes, along with Edgar Wright's "Game of Thrones" discovery and info about a "Powers" pilot cut you can't see unless you're at Brian Michael Bendis' house made the rundown today.

Batman in BeerI actually went light on the Steve Jobs retweets today. By now everyone knows the news about him resigning as Apple's CEO. However, you may have missed a few of the zingers that got tossed around the feed this morning and last night.

In other subjects, the art was strong with the last day's worth of tweeting. Ben Templesmith claims a Batman sketch he posted was painted in beer, which in addition to the fact that it's a Ben Templesmith Batman sketch makes the piece mighty rad. Check out a link to the big picture and Robert Kirkman's love for the CGI Yoda replacement that's coming to the new "Star Wars: Episode I" Blu-ray discs. It's all in the highlight reel below.

Fright NightReports that the West Memphis Three might be released from prison raised interest in their situation on Twitter this morning. Their murder case has long been a topic of speculation, and many, including Joe Hill and Gerry Duggan, look forward to seeing them freed.

Some fine picto-tweets showed up today, too, with Terry Moore making a Nancy Callahan sketch post and Stan Lee sharing hangout pic with some "Glee" folks. Links to those can be found after the jump along with the number of times Christopher Mintz-Plasse plans on seeing "Fright Night" today and news that ROM: Spaceknight fans may find to be of interest.

Sgt RockShould hitting 600 home runs qualify you for a role in the new Sgt. Rock movie? It's a good enough reason as far as Phil Hester is concerned. He proposed giving Jim Thome a shot at the part of Bulldozer if everything finally comes together on the project.

Elsewhere, Brian Michael Bendis has obviously been keeping an eye on "The Dark Knight Rises." He compared it to what he saw on the the "Powers" TV show set, which he said also got a little crazy. More on why, Jim Lee's late hours leading up to the DC Comics reboot and a story of Juggalo harassment made the days list of retweets.

Rise of the Planet of the ApesThe rebooted "Planet of the Apes" franchise proved to be a juggernaut in theaters over the weekend, and the tweet reactions it received show why. Jhonen Vasquez claimed to have accidentally stumbled into a different ape film, but I've got my doubts about that.

Rafael Kayanan seemed to dig it, though. Find out why, see how Brian Michael Bendis feels about recent events in "Entourage," and understand why Cheez-Its creep out Jim Lee down below.

Anne Hathaway CatwomanAn epic week of character reveals concludes this week with "The Dark Knight Rises" rolling out its first pic Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Her long hair may have rubbed a few people the wrong way, but Jamie McKelvie is optimistic. Chuck BB? Not so much.

In other tweets, Jim Lee sounded pleased with Henry Cavill's first public Superman still. His perspective, a defense of Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man switch-up, and a Wonder Woman TV pilot review made today's recap.
