While much of the comic book movie world is concentrating on a differentcat-themed character lately, there was certainly no shortage of readers willing to weigh in on who they'd like to see play Selina Kyle next in the Batman film franchise.
With over 20 percent of the final votes, "Underworld" actress Kate Beckinsale ended up the top choice among fans, with a pair of notable actresses following along in her wake, and a host of write-in candidates with a lot of support. Read more...
Okay, so after posting the results of last week's "Batman 3" poll, it's pretty clear that Catwoman is on a lot of fans' minds when it comes to characters who could make their debut in the next installment of the blockbuster bat-franchise. As both the runner-up in the poll and the focus of our latest Secret Identity casting call, Catwoman appears to have some significant support among Batman fans.
So, now the question becomes: Who would you like to see become Batman's feline-fixated nemesis (and potential lover?) in the next film?
I've compiled many of the names that popped up in Catwoman discussion over the last year or so, and the rest is up to you. Is there a certain someone who'd be the purrrfect choice? Let us know by casting your vote! Read more...
There's no shortage of rogues to choose from, but the one I think is an absolute necessity is Catwoman. Given the state of Bruce Wayne's life after the events of "The Dark Knight," this feels like the perfect time to introduce Selina Kyle—the woman who could either help mend Bruce's fences, or bring all of the walls tumbling down.
If Nolan, David Goyer and the other folks at DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. decide to go the Catwoman route, I think that these five actresses would be great for the role. Read more...
What is it about the "Batman" film franchise that breeds ridiculous rumors? The latest in a long line of unlikely casting gossip has "Jennifer's Body" star Megan Fox suiting up as Catwoman for the third installment of Christopher Nolan's "Batman" films. But is it any more ridiculous than some of the previous rumors that have made the rounds?
The report surfaced earlier today in notoriously unreliable British tabloid The Sun, which simply stated—without any attributed sources, anonymous or otherwise—that "Megan Fox has signed up to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie." And while there doesn't appear to be even the slightest glimmer of truth to the report, it still isn't the most ridiculous casting rumor we've heard thus far.
"High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens has become one of the most sought-after young women in Hollywood with upcoming turns in both the reimagined "Beauty and the Beast" film "Beastly" and Zack Snyder's alternate-reality thriller "Sucker Punch."
A self-professed fan of all things Snyder, Hudgens confessed to having watched "300" several times already when MTV News spoke with her on the set of "Beastly" -- including a viewing of the action-heavy Frank Miller adaptation the previous night. Given that segue, we had to ask her: Are there any comic book characters or stories she'd like to bring to the screen?
"Wonder Woman?" she ventured, only to quickly launch into a story of the important role comics played in bringing her to the screen. Read more...
For many Bat-fans, 1992's "Batman Returns" is regarded as the best Batman film of the pre-Christopher Nolan era. While it sacrificed Jack Nicholson's impressive Joker for Danny DeVito's oily Penguin, it evolved beyond a feature-length Prince video and presented audiences with the darkest take on Gotham's Dark Knight up to that point.
That's why, during a recent press event for Pfeiffer's upcoming film "Cheri," we had to ask her what she thought about the current crop of "Batman 3" rumors involving the return of a certain feline-fixated felon.
"You would think so," Pfeiffer told MTV News when asked whether she thought Catwoman would return to Batman movies with Nolan behind the camera. "They better... They should!" Read more...
In a move that won't be shocking to any "Batman Returns" fans, Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman costume fetched a pretty penny early this month at an auction put on by Profiles in History. Now all the winner needs to do is shake out the wax.
The costume, which had recently adorned a "resident" of the Hollywood Wax Museum, was won for $8,260 and edged out duds worn by both the Beatles and Michael Jackson as the most profitable outfit of the auction, according to SciFi Wire. Read more...
Alright, readers, let's all take out our grains of salt because it looks like we've got ourselves yet another "The Dark Knight" sequel casting rumor making its way around the blogs.
Yesterday, E! Online not only reported that "Batman 3” is "alive and kicking -- definitely," but their unnamed Warner Bros. sources are also claiming that Rachel Weisz is being considered for the role of Catwoman (a much welcome departure from some of the more...unusual Catwoman casting rumors we've heard so far). The E! piece also reports that Christopher Nolan will be back to direct the follow-up to this past summer's box office champ, despite the fact that Nolan and other high level execs attached to the film have said that the fan-acclaimed writer/director is still weighing his options. With all of the hubbub surrounding the next "Batman" feature film -- and more importantly, speculation as to which villains will face off against the Caped Crusader in the next installment -- it's clear that Bat-fever continues to run rampant in Hollywood. And one of the top baddies that keeps being bandied about the blogs (that's called "alliteration," kids!) has been Selina Kyle -- a.k.a., Catwoman.
So what say you, Bat-fans? Think Christina Aguilera could pull off the role of Catwoman, or is that part better left to the pros? Sound off in the comments.
