In an interview with MTV News, "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn said promotional images of the film's pre-teen vigilante sporting a schoolgirl outfit and gun don't actually depict her costume for the film, and like her "Kick-Ass" co-stars Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, she'll have a costume modeled after her comic book counterpart.
"That's not her costume. No one's seen her costume yet," Vaughn told MTV News of the various images that have appeared online. "That's just part of a plan to take some people out. That's her alter ego." Read more...
It's been a long time since we heard any news regarding Matthew Vaughn's live-action adaptation of "Kick-Ass," a violent comic book series by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. For a while, one of its young stars, Chloe Moretz, was keeping fans posted about production (and her experiences with co-star Nicolas Cage) on her personal website, but fresh information has been hard to come by over the last few months. However, we finally have our first, honest-to-goodness piece of news out of the "Kick-Ass" camp.
As promotion for their new issue, Empire has posted the first look at Moretz as pre-teen assassin Hit Girl, and provided the first peek at one half of the father-daughter vigilante team from the film. Read more...
As one of the biggest stars of the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s "Kick-Ass," Nicolas Cage is as good a barometer as any for the health of the project. As the film continues post-production work, Cage's marked enthusiasm could be good news for fans of the "real-world" superhero title.
Cage, who plays Damon “Big Daddy” Macready, cop and vigilante father of the sword-wielding pre-teen "Hit Girl" (played by Chloe Moretz), told MTV News he was in good company on the set of the film.
"I liked working with Chloe. I thought she was really cool and excellent," said Cage who noted their characters' unique form of bonding via brutal dispatching of criminals. "That's a really twisted relationship." Read more...
Three new photos hit the 'Net today from "Kick-Ass," the live-action adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s edgy real-life superhero series.
The trio of photos are available on HitFix, but one of our favorites from the bunch is this shot of Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz (our first "official" look at Cage and Moretz, in fact) looking like your average father and daughter having a cup of hot chocolate together -- against a backdrop of machine guns!
After the jump, check out a close-up photo of Aaron Johnson in his Kick-Ass costume, and some thoughts about the new photos. Read more...
There was a double shot of "Kick-Ass" popping up on the 'Webs today, with two new photos from the set appearing online and some updates posted to the online journal of Chloe Moretz, the 11-year-old actress playing the pre-teen vigilante Hit Girl.
Chloe Moretz, who plays the pre-teen vigilante called Hit Girl in Matthew Vaughn's upcoming adaptation of the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr. series "Kick-Ass," has updated her online journal with some thoughts from the London set of the film.
Moretz writes that "Kick-Ass" is being filmed in one of the same studios used for "Star Wars," and calls co-star Nicolas Cage (who plays Hit Girl's guardian, Big Daddy, in the film) "the coolest man ever."
"[Cage] just takes everything that is written in the script and just gives it something really cool and really special," wrote Moretz. "I just get to act off of what he does and I can’t even believe it. ... Just wait, when you see how he is playing Big Daddy you are going to be so amazed. Everyday that I come to set I learn something new. Sometimes we just joke around in between takes then we kind of use it when we shoot." Read more...

News from the "Kick-Ass" production front continues to hit the 'net hard and fast -- this time, we get an update from Chloe Moretz (who plays a young assassin named Hit Girl in the film) via her blog.
In her latest posting, Moretz says that the cast and crew are on their way to Toronto after wrapping up the first round of shoots in London. The young actress -- who's previous credits include "Dirty Sexy Money" and "The Amityville Horror" -- then talks about her extensive training, which will include work at the Toronto Circus School, and also mentions that she'll soon begin her stunt fighting lessons. Also noteworthy is Moretz's mention that she's in the process of being fitted for her Hit Girl costume, although the look of the final costume has yet to be revealed to her.
Moretz's words come hot on the heels of yet another "Kick-Ass" casting announcement -- namely that Clark Duke has joined the production, playing the role of a nerd named Marty.
"Kick-Ass" is set to hit theaters next year.
