Captain America

Do you want more Captain America in your "Avengers"? If so, you're in luck -- according to Joss Whedon, much of "The Avengers" will be told from the perspective of Steve Rogers, as he's the only one able to make sense of what a silly world he's found himself in.

In a story for Entertainment Weekly (via ComicBookMovie), Whedon talked about deploying Rogers in this everyman role.

"I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie," he said. "So that's what my movie has to be about. So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers' perspective, since he's the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it."

Captain AmericaCaptain America next throws his mighty shield at audiences in "Marvel's The Avengers," but after that, Steve Rogers might be on ice again for a little while.

Speaking with The Playlist, actor Chris Evans revealed that he likely won't star in another "Captain America" movie until 2014 — news that potentially puts an end to the mystery surrounding the identity of one of two films Marvel Studios has on their calendar for that year.

"They may wait until 2014 until they release the next Cap," said Evans. "Marvel has a lot of balls in the air, they aren’t going to cannibalize their films.”

FROM MTV MOVIES: For a while, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee was claiming his upcoming cameo in "The Amazing Spider-Man" would be his funniest big-screen turn yet in a series of appearances stretching back to his blink-and-you'll-miss-it role as a hot-dog vendor on the beach in 2000's "X-Men." But Spidey now has some serious competition, as Lee maintains his "Avengers" cameo gave him the opportunity to pop off "probably the funniest line that I've had to say yet."

The superhero he gets to deliver it to is Chris Evans' Captain America, a nerdy triumph that had the actor pumping his fist in mock victory over his fellow Avengers and saying, "It's great!"

Like Lee, Evans wouldn't reveal the details of the cameo — and, honestly, what would be the fun of knowing beforehand when and how the comic creator will appear? — but he did gush about working with Lee.

Captain AmericaTwenty-first century, say hello to the new and improved Captain America.

The first photos of Chris Evans in full costume on the Cleveland set of "The Avengers" hit the web today, and the new suit is definitely a major improvement from the one Evans wore in this summer's "Captain America: The First Avenger." Gone are his helmet's chinstrap and the array of gadgets strapped to his chest. "The Avengers" suit is sleeker in every way and, based on Cap's alliance with Tony Stark, probably a lot more technologically advanced as well.

But there are a couple more nuggets to be gleaned from this photo as well.

We all know that you can't make a superhero movie these days without a few fancy special effects, given all the flying, web-slinging, good vs. evil fighting that goes on. Not so for "Captain America: The First Avenger," however, in that the standard VFX challenges on this film were the opposite of what we're used to: they had to make something big look a lot smaller.

I'm speaking of course to the slight, slim size and shape of Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) body pre-super serum, which Evans recently revealed is almost all him.

"I'd say it's about 80 percent me," Evans said when asked how much of his body we see before Rogers becomes Cap. "We started out working on a bunch of different technologies. Something they threw out initially was, they said, 'We're going to put your head on a smaller actor's body.' I was kind of against that. I didn't feel like sharing the performance."

Chris Evans is no stranger to playing the superheroic types – maybe you’ve seen "Fantastic Four," "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," or "The Losers?" Now, with "Captain America: The First Avenger" on the horizon, I’m sure he’s spent more hours in a spandex suit at this point than you or I have spent in any article of clothing, ever.

So what is driving him to take on these power-packed roles? Is it the fulfillment of some childhood fantasy? Is it the spoils and fame he receives off-screen for vanquishing his enemies on-screen? Determined to discover the motive of the man behind the shield, MTV News posed these questions to him. The selfless answer we received was one Steve Rogers himself would have given.

“First and foremost, we need the fans, we owe the fans, the fans are what makes these movies work," Evans said. "These movies get made because they built an audience. If you didn’t have this kind of following and awareness of the property, I don’t think the producers would be as eager to dump all this money into the movies.”

All the talk about "Captain America" these past few weeks really just gets us even more psyched for "The Avengers" next summer. We know they're filming, we've heard little tidbits from the cast about how great everything and everyone is on set, how smart and awesome Joss Whedon is, etc. These are all things we hope for and expect, right?

And even though the cast has signed their lives away with NDA's regarding their work in the film, we always hope for a few more tidbits to come out of our interactions with the actors. Captain America himself, Chris Evans, has let loose a few key ingredients, as it were, confirming that Whedon's superhero smorgasbord picks up directly after the end of his solo film, but my favorite fact gleaned is that all those "Avengers" are total BFF's now.

When you have 30 minutes of Captain America's time all to yourself, it leaves the door open for a series of very important, hard-hitting questions. MTV's Josh Horowitz sat down with Chris Evans, the man behind the first Avenger, during the latest installation of "MTV First," and couldn't resist reeling him in for a game of "The Yes/No Show."

So does Evans dance in the shower? Has anyone ever called him "Captain America" in the sack? Did he drop plenty of "Bill and Ted" and "Point Break" references while filming "Street Kings" alongside Keanu Reeves? These questions and more are answered in the above interview, which will end up making your day about a million times better.

FROM MTV NEWS: Although most of our Marvel Comics-related movie excitement these days is pegged to the impending release of "Captain America: The First Avenger," we can't help but already get excited for next year's highly anticipated, superhero-filled "The Avengers."

When MTV News caught up with Cap himself, Chris Evans, during our "MTV First: Captain America" interview Thursday, we asked for his thoughts on working with fan-favorite "Avengers" director Joss Whedon.

"He's unbelievable," Evans said. "He's so clever. He lives in the world of comic books, so he has in his head an amazing story already mapped out."

Something tells me you know this already, but in case you don't, let's make it perfectly clear: being Captain America is not easy. Even harder is becoming Captain America.

Just ask Chris Evans, the subject of our recent MTV First: Captain America interview, who told us that his transformation from normal-sized actor into overly-muscled superhero was a grueling process that required at least one British fitness instructor and two hours a day for four full months worth of exercise.
