At this point, we've seen a lot of Chris Evans as Captain America in the World War II-era "The First Avenger," but will he sport a similar look once he's thawed out in the modern day? Apparently not, according to Evans.

When MTV News spoke to Evans as part of our Summer Movie Preview Week, the actor revealed that the star-spangled superhero's suit will get an overhaul when he joins Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in "The Avengers."

"[It's a] new costume," Evans told MTV News of Captain America's visual change-up in the 2012 blockbuster. "Yeah, it's awesome. It's really cool." Read More...

With the opening of “Captain America: The First Avenger” a few months away and our Summer Movie Preview Week in full swing, MTV News sat down with star Chris Evans to get the scoop on why he was initially skeptical about playing soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers and what eventually convinced him to take the role.

“A lot of people are always like, ‘Well, what do you like about comic book movies?’" said Evans. "To me, it’s just a story about a guy. That’s what I like about him. He starts out at such a relatable place . . . He has every shortcoming in the world and every reason to be jaded at the world. He’s just not. He’s choosing to be a good guy.” Read More...

Captain America: The First Avenger” arrives in theaters this July and even the star, Chris Evans, has yet to see the whole film. Still, he said he’s seen parts of it — and what he’s witnessed has made him proud.

MTV News recently spoke with the actor as part of our Summer Movie Preview Week, and he gushed about what he’s seen of "Captain America" so far, but didn't want to jinx anything, since he hasn’t been privy to the final, entire cut of the film.

“I’ve seen quite a bit. I’ve not seen the full cut,” he said. “Everything I see, I really like. I don’t like jinxing things. Individual scenes in a vacuum can be misleading. But I will say this: every single individual scene that I’ve seen, I’ve loved.” Read More...

Earlier today, we kicked off Summer Movie Preview Week here on MTV Splash Page with an exclusive new image from "Captain America: The First Avenger" — but that's not all we have for you from Chris Evans' upcoming debut as the star-spangled superhero.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Evans looked beyond "Captain America" to Marvel's upcoming blockbuster team-up movie "The Avengers," which began filming this week.

"Even in the first 'Captain America' movie, they bring him into the modern world — that does happen," Evans told MTV News when asked how the character's dual presence in both World War II and the modern era will factor into Marvel's movie universe. "In 'The Avengers,' they start to explore this. He's a fish out of water, a man not in his time, and he's just coming to terms with the way the world is now and how it's changed since the '40s." Captain AmericaSome of the most interesting parts of "Captain America" that we've seen so far show Chris Evans as a puny dude who is at first rejected from the Army for being too skinny. Unlike some actors who go on dangerous crash diets to achieve that freaky look, Evans was digitally manipulated -- which is especially helpful since he has to get all muscle-bound and ready to kick butt later in the movie.

However, before he became the superstar of comic book flicks, he admits he looked more like Steve Rogers than the all-American Captain.

"[I]t it wasn’t that foreign to me because that’s what I looked like for a big chunk of my life," he told USA Today. "This is what I looked like for all of all middle school. Up until maybe sophomore year, I was a pretty skinny kid for a long time." Read More...

Thor toy Chris HemsworthAs always, Toy Fair 2011 drew quite a crowd of industry movers and shakers, collectors, and fans this year — but it also attracted a few big movie stars, too. Case in point: "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth and "Captain America: The First Avenger" star Chris Evans made a surprise appearance at the Hasbro showroom this week to check out the upcoming line of toys based on their Marvel blockbusters.

We posted our video (and photo) preview of the "Captain America" movie toys yesterday, but it's always fun to see what the actors themselves think of the toys based on their likeness. The good folks at Hasbro were nice enough to send over a few photos of Evans and Hemsworth checking out the goods — including a nice shot of both actors goofing around with a kid-friendly version of Thor's hammer and a plastic, disc-shooting replica of Captain America's shield.

Too old for toys? I SAY THEE NAY!!! Read More...

The debut trailer for "Captain America: The First Avenger" premiered tonight during Super Bowl XLV. The :32 second first look at Joe Johnston's July 22 release might have been short, but it managed to pack in quite a bit of fan-pleasing glimpses of what's to come.

The trailer opens with a quick rundown of Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) transformation from puny military reject into beefcake super-soldier. We get looks at Colonel Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones), who enlists Rogers into the top-secret program, and Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), who developed the super-soldier serum. There's also a lighter moment between Evans and Hayley Atwell, playing Cap love interest Peggy Carter, as Rogers emerges from the machine that changes him into his super-powered self. Read More...

Now that the magazine is on shelves, some of the images contained within its pages have found their way online, offering a few more looks at "Captain America: The First Avenger."

Five images scanned from the magazine are posted over at SuperHeroHype, including a pair of shots of Evans in costume (with and without helmet), as well as another shot of Steve Rogers (and his biceps), and a pair of pics featuring female lead Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. There's also a small image of Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips.

Chris Evans - Captain AmericaAt this point, we've seen quite a bit of Chris Evans as Captain America in the upcoming film from Marvel Studios, but it's still exciting to see more from the much-anticipated "Captain America: The First Avenger."

Empire has posted the cover from this week's issue of the British movie magazine, and it offers a nice, new look at Evans in costume as the red, white, and blue superhero. The issue, which hits shelves February 3, also includes interviews with Evans, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, and "Captain America" director Joe Johnston.

“Scripts had been developed that took place half in World War Two, half in the modern day and none of those scripts were particularly successful because the costume ended up overshadowing the man,” said Marvel chief Kevin Feige in an excerpt from the feature. Read More...

Captain AmericaParamount has released a new image of Chris Evans as Captain America from their upcoming film that will introduce the iconic soldier-turned-superhero into the new Marvel Studios movie-verse.

In the new image, we get a nice action shot of Cap that also offers another look at the red, white, and blue uniform he'll don in the film. Purists will note the white wings and "A" on Cap's helmet, which also appeared in the image that arrived online last week. The studio provided a nice, high-res version of that image, too.

"Captain America: The First Avenger" hits theaters July 22, 2011. Read More...
