Green LanternAre you getting a little impatient waiting to find out what's up with J.J. Abrams' second "Star Trek" film? Well, Simon Pegg says you need to be patient. He won't say what's up, but he's sure that the gears are busy behind the scenes.

Something you aren't likely to see in theaters, meanwhile (unfortunately, because I'd go see this), is a "Green Lantern" movie starring Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. I'm not sure this would have to be a Hal Jordan or Guy Gardner story, but if a ring happened to fall into the plot of "Kick-Ass 2," it could be fun. Mintz-Plasse pondered such developments last night. See the retweet for yourself and check out some Harry Potter marketing confusion down below.

Late last week, "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn weighed in on the likelihood that we'll see a sequel to his last film featuring a cast of costumed vigilantes: 2010's "Kick-Ass." He's not the only one to talk "Kick-Ass 2" lately, though, as "Fright Night" actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse recently discussed the likelihood of returning as the Red Mist for another film based on the gritty comic.

Mintz-Plasse discussed "Kick-Ass 2" during the first night of the MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week, immediately following an early screening of the film and the online debut of an exclusive "Fright Night" clip.

"I want to [do a sequel]," Mintz-Plasse told MTV News. "We all want to, we just have to find the time. We're busy people." Read More...

WolverineThe latest pirate-laden "Doctor Who" installment, "The Curse of the Black Spot," got Twitter talking over the weekend. Both Gabriel Hardman and Chris Weston thought it needed a little something more, but Weston's hopeful for Neil Gaiman's upcoming episode.

In image tweeting last night, Jim Lee decided to make all other Wolverine artists feel irrelevant by sharing his takes on Logan throughout the ages. All you need to do is look at the one he made when he was 13 to realize this guy was destined for great things. That masterpiece, as well as Lakers loss reactions and the Steve Niles confession you never expected to read await after the jump.

Al WilliamsonReports began tricking out into the Twitter Report feed last night that legendary artist Al Williamson passed away. There's been some debate about the original source of the news, but as of right now I haven't seen official confirmation. Nonetheless, memories and appreciations have been trending all morning.

News of country singer turned breakfast sausage brand man Jimmy Dean also prompted some reactions, as did the continuing discussion about Donald Glover wanting a shot at playing Spider-Man. In regards to the latter, Erik Larsen sounded off on the subject and criticized baseline expectations for black heroes in comics, including Luke Cage specifically.

On one final note, let it be known that in addition to reading Neil Kleid's opinions on World Cup soccer, I also enjoy his considerable creative talents on occasion and highly recommend "The Big Khan" and "Ursa Minors."

Judge DreddThe sincerity of certain tweets in the Twitter Report feed can often be questionable at best, but I'll let you evaluate Jock's details on the new "Judge Dredd" film on your own. I'll tell you who's always sincere, though, and that's Stan Lee. In fact, I personally guarantee you that no one else has tweeted more exuberantly about their upcoming cameo on "Entourage."

In other goings on, Rob Liefeld still calls NBA games like he sees them, and if there's ever a channel that offers live feeds from his Twitter account during the future, you can bet I'll be subscribing. Check out who likes the Celtics, who's unimpressed with LeBron James and who bought an original piece of Scott Pilgrim artwork.

Twitter-Kick-Ass"Kick-Ass" and C2E2 tweets dominated Saturday and Sunday for the Twitter Report feed. Some familiar faces like Jimmy Palimotti were disappointed with the film's performances, while others, like Tim Seeley, were snapping pictures of the sketches with were making in Artists Alley in Chicago. Christopher Mintz-Plasse, meanwhile, caught a screening of his new movie at the Playboy mansion and posted a picture for posterity.

Animation and giant robot appreciators alike got some bad news, meanwhile, as "Robotech" producer Carl Macek passed away over the weekend. Rob Liefeld and Lea Hernandez both pointed out his importance. Check those retweets out after the jump along with commentary on the volcanic ash problem in Europe and Jonathan Hickman's World Cup prediction.

Even though "Kick-Ass" fell a little short of box-office expectations this weekend, anyone who's seen it knows that there's certainly sequel potential in Matthew Vaughn's ultraviolent adaptation. And if there is a sequel, stars Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse seem to already know where it could take their characters.

During an interview with MTV News, Mintz-Plasse revealed that "Kick-Ass" co-creator Mark Millar had shared information with him about the sequel during the actor's trip to the Edinburgh Film Festival.

"[Millar] wants [the sequel] to go very, very dark," related Minzt-Plasse. "My character becomes very dark and very evil in the sequel." Read More...

Iceland VolcanoThe Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland that halted air traffic across Northern Europe today was just one of a few major events affecting folks in the comics world on Twitter. Both Neil Gaiman and Simon Pegg were among them. On the other side of the Atlantic, pros have been packing and putting up booths in Chicago for C2E2. Archaia Studios Press may some surprises, though, as they appear to have an Iron Man ready to unveil.

On a more somber note, metal fans in comics got some shocking news this morning as word got out that Type O Negative lead singer and bassist Peter Steele passed away yesterday. I actually caught the news first from Brian Keene's Twitter feed. You'll find his condolences below, alongside Dan Slott's pictures of some "Doctor Who" faces and Christopher Mintz-Plasse's last-minute plea to get everyone to see "Kick-Ass."

Chloe Moretz may know how to jump between rooftops, slice criminals with swords, and kick some serious mafia butt as Hit-Girl in Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass," but the 13-year-old actress said she's still just a teenage age girl when it comes to real-life combat.

In an interview with MTV News, Moretz said that if anyone confronts her she won't challenge them to a brutal fight like her "Kick-Ass" alter ego.

"I'm still a scaredy-cat," Moretz said. "Literally, anyone stands up to me I will freakout and call 911." Read More...

Put yourself in "Kick-Ass" stars Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse's shoes for a minute — wouldn't you feel a little bit awkward wearing a green wetsuit or a massive, red-streaked wig?

Speaking with MTV News, the actors revealed their own mixed feelings on wearing superhero costumes in director Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass." Mintz-Plasse said that he felt like a "badass" the first time he saw himself in Red Mist's black-and-red duds — until he realized that other people would be looking at him as well. Read More...
