Let me just say that I've been having a hard time writing about "Cowboys & Aliens," and not for the reasons you might think. First, I am totally anti-spoiler, so I've been trying to avoid all the teasers, trailers and previews. Impossible, as it turns out, because the audience I serve doesn't care about my spoiler sensitivities! Second, as a woman who is very much a fan of Westerns and the men who act in them, every time I see Daniel Craig in all his rugged, dusty, excellence, I lose my train of thought...

What was I talking about? Right. There's a new "Cowboys & Aliens" clip out today, entitled "You Owe Me," that features a nice little scene between our heroes Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford) and Lonergan (Craig).

In the one-minute clip, we see a few of the anxious townsfolk witness a violent scuffle between an alien and a human(?) shown in silhouette through a hotel or shop window. The alien might have been injured, but runs off in the distance before he/she can be caught. Dolarhyde basically calls for a posse to be assembled to go look for the creature. What follows is a delightfully Western, testosterone-fueled exchange between Ford and Craig.

Cowboys & aliensThere's just over a month until "Cowboys & Aliens" hits theaters, and that means the marketing campaign will be switching into high gear in the near future. We got our first taste of what's to come today, thanks to a new one-sheet promo poster for the film.

The new poster features stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, and has the pair staring off into the distance, as if they're wondering, "Hey, what's that in the distance? Is that... an alien?"

Okay, maybe that's not what they're thinking in the photo — but you can see it for yourself below and form your own opinions. Read More...

Currently available on iTunes, the new trailer offers a bit more info on the plot of the film and Daniel Craig's character, as well as a quick tease of the aliens. There's also an interesting shot that hints at the fate of the locals once they're whipped into the air and captured by the aliens.

Pretty much the minute that "Cowboys & Aliens" was announced, people have been intrigued — and that was before fan-favorites Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Jon Favreau were announced as the film's stars and director.

When MTV News caught up with Favreau recently during a lengthy chat at WonderCon, we asked him if, given the film's genre-blending, he'd considered involving another icon of the Western genre: one Clint Eastwood.

"He's definitely somebody we would have been very appreciative to work with. He's iconic," Favreau said. "For this genre, Harrison felt like the right guy because he's still vital and exciting enough that he can jump on a horse, ride into battle, but he's also a different generation than Daniel." "Star Trek" news is usually the stuff of MTV Movies Blog, but we're making an exception today since this news in particular ties to "Cowboys & Aliens." The comic book adaptation's co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are also the writers on J.J. Abrams' reboot of "Trek" and its coming sequel, which is planned for a June 2012 release — and the duo recently revealed that there's a bigger tie between their work on the two projects than fans might realize.

"['Cowboys and Aliens'] inspires it a little bit," Orci said in an interview with Airlock Alpha. "'Star Trek' was 'Wagon Train [to] the Stars.' Isn't that how Gene Roddenberry pitched it? So right now we're just doing 'Stars Come to the Wagon Train' and now we start turning."

"Once we start relaxing about what were doing here, I'm hoping that being out in the woods a little bit will kind of inspire the right decisions hopefully," he added. Read More...
