Bizarre rumor of the week: Katee Sackhoff, who played the hot-headed fighter pilot Starbuck on the recently concluded "Battlestar Galactica" television series, was at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles last week to procure a significant chunk of comic books starring Daredevil character Typhoid Mary. According to the store, Sackhoff herself proclaimed that she's hoping to land a role in a Marvel movie.
While the Sackhoff seen at Golden Apple could well be a Cylon impostor trying to confuse the comic book community, there's also a good chance that this means a film is in the works featuring Typhoid Mary. The question, of course, is which Marvel film would she be in? Read more...
Though rumors have been buzzing of a potential relaunch of the “Daredevil” franchise at Fox, former “Elektra” star Jennifer Garner hasn’t been involved in any talks that may have occurred so far.
MTV News caught up with Garner during a press event for her upcoming romantic comedy, “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." When informed that a relaunch is in the works, Garner asked, “Is there really?” She then jokingly added, “Actually, we’re shooting it right now.” Read more...
Once upon a time, Ben Affleck was thrilled to play Daredevil, one of Marvel’s most complex superheroes. These days, the newly-rebirthed star of the political drama “State of Play” isn’t so eager to discuss his days spent in red latex.
“Uh, no,” he replied recently, shifting his energetic tempo to a methodical, disapproving downbeat when I mentioned the “D” word.
The exact question was a simple one: After the resounding success of such recent hits as “Iron Man” and “The Dark Knight,” does Ben watch those movies and think, "I want one more crack at the superhero thing, so I can do it that way?" Read more...

Despite starring in a bevy of action films from "The Chronicles of Riddick" to the "Fast and Furious" franchise, Vin Diesel has yet to strap on the cape and tights for a superhero movie. When MTV News asked the actor why he's stayed away from comic book fare, Diesel replied matter-of-factly, "I do my own superhero movies."
"It's very fascinating," Diesel told MTV News. "I think what happens is [the audience] doesn't need to put me in tights to get that superhero feel." Read more...

With the announcement of Marvel Studios’ newly adjusted movie schedule, including a release date for Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man 4,” some have wondered what the delays will mean for “Thor,” “The First Avenger: Captain America,” and “The Avengers.”
While there’s some speculation that the big-screen debut of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was pushed back to compete with a sequel to “The Dark Knight,” an anonymous source tells Ain’tItCoolNews that the reasons are more a creative decision than a business one -- and that the move could be an attempt to get "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau behind the camera for the superhero team-up. If 20th Century Fox wants a do-over for "Daredevil," that would mean finding a new lead, since Ben Affleck has no interest in returning to Hell's Kitchen.
"Wearing a costume was a source of humiliation for me, and something I wouldn't want to do again soon," Affleck told reporters years ago.
So who would consider it an honor, not a humiliation? Jason Statham has already thrown his hat in the ring , telling the L.A. Times, "Just give me a chance, I would love to be Daredevil." (Frank Miller, who was sitting at the same table, agreed Statham would be a good choice).
But Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio's co-star in the upcoming "Body of Lies," Oscar Isaac, wants it even more -- so much so he's willing to make a huge sacrifice for the part. Read more...
It worked with Hulk, so why not Daredevil? According to an interview with 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman, the studio is "thinking very seriously about" a reboot of Marvel's blind hero, Daredevil.
"I think that the thing the Hulk showed although, it did what it did, is that it is possible, that if you really do it right the audience will give you a second chance," Rothman told IESB. "And I think that you see that when they did 'Batman Begins,' the first Nolan movie, that you can have made some mistakes along the way or movies that the audience wasn't that crazy about and then given the proper amount of time and the right creative vision behind it, you can, to use your word, reboot." Variety recently posted an in-depth analysis of 20th Century Fox's lackluster summer in terms of box office returns, citing the fact that the studio didn't manage to produce a film that grossed over $100 million (while most of the other major studios each had three films that grossed that amount). That being the case, the article states that Fox execs plan on meeting very soon to discuss a strategy moving forward, which will most likely involve a return to comic-based films in the coming summers.
Among those rumored to be discussed are an "X-Men" prequel, a possible revisit to Hell Kitchen with a "Daredevil" sequel, and even a "Deadpool" spin-off if "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" does as well as they hope (and if fans don't boycott the film). Read more...
